Chloe Ella Addison
BLUFF CITY - Chloe Ella Addison, 48, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Kingsport, a daughter of Robert and Margurete Free Goad. She was a 1972 graduate of Sullivan Central High School and a 1977 graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in business. She retired last year after 13 years as a special education assistant with Holston Elementary School. She was a life long member of Blountville Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Addison; a daughter, Brooke Addison of the home; a son, Chase Addison of the home; her parents, Robert and Margurete Goad of Blountville; a sister, Teresa Carter of Kingsport; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ballard and Shirley Addison of Bristol Virginia.
The funeral service was conducted at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening in the chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. Dwight Shaffer, minister, officiated. Eulogies were delivered by Leland Houser and Cheryl Cooley. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. The pallbearers will be David Smith, Allen Blaylock, Darrell Patrick, Tim Carter, David Jones and Paul Gebhardt. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Feathers, Danny Godsey and Bobby Goad. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Special Education Class of Mrs. Keup, Holston Elementary School, 2348 Highway 75, Blountville, TN 37617. The family received friends from 6 until 7:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Elmer D. Addison
WYTHEVILLE - Mr. Elmer Dale Addition, 61, formerly of Richlands, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in a Wytheville hospital following a long illness.
Born in Richlands, he was the son of the late Earl and Evelyn Williams Addison. He was a retired coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Addison; and three brothers, Thomas, Kenneth and Earl Addison Jr.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Roy (Rhonda) Wells of Swords Creek, Va., Sherry Patrick of Paintsville, Ky., Tonnya Lynn Mays and Jackie Carmella Stacy, both of Richlands; two sons, Rodney Dale Stacy of Richlands and William Dennis Keene of Fingerville, S.C.; one brother, Joe Edd Addison of Baptist Valley, Va.; one sister, Dorothy Horn of Rural Retreat, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Jeff Whited and Rev. Elcis Whited officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Addison.

Margie Smith Baker
Margie Smith Baker, 71, of Bristol Virginia, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at her home following a brief illness. She was a native and life long resident of Scott County, Va., and a daughter of the late Hugh and Geneva Barker Smith. She was a member of Gardner's Memorial Primitive Baptist Church where she served as clerk for many years.
She was the widow of Johnny J. Baker.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cathy Baker of Bristol Virginia; a grandson and wife, Pearson and Crystal Baker of Bristol Tennessee; a sister, Grace Dowell of Blountville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Gloria Smith of Blountville and Ralph and Wilma Smith of Richmond; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Paul Cook Memorial Chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Elder Pat Hammond, Elder Wayne Morgan, Elder John Bowlin and Elder Lewis Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Boohers Cemetery. ABINGDON - Jack "J.M." Michael Carr, 57, of 26651 Watauga Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a native of Piney Flats, Tenn.,. lived in the Johnson City area until moving to Abingdon in 1989. He was a son of the late George Solomon Carr and Margaret Lee Cole Carr.
Mr. Carr was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the Army airborne.
He was a former employee of American Limestone.
Mr. Carr was a member of Spoon Gap Free Will Baptist Church in Abingdon and Austin Springs United Methodist Church when he lived in Johnson City.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Marie Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Murray Carr; son, Timmy Carr, Abingdon; daughter, Melissa Carr, Jonesborough; stepson, Daniel Murray, Abingdon; stepdaughter, Valerie Murray, Abingdon; brother, James Carr, Gray; four sisters, Hester Rush, Fall Branch, Linda Bishop, Gray, Betty Hodges, Johnson City and Virginia Carter, Gray; two granddaughters, Carol Mae Carr and Sydney Ball; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Herbert Bailey will officiate. Committal services and burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Piney Flats. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. Mary Ann Greene
Mary Ann Greene of Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Huntersville, N.C. She was a native of Meadowview and lived most of her life in the Bristol area. She was the daughter of the late Isaiah and Lucy Frazier Wheeler. She was a former employee of L.C. King Co. She was a member of the Marthina Memorial Chapel and she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ewing Travis; and her second husband, Clay Greene; a daughter, Nancy Jean Travis; and a son, Jimmy Travis.
Survivors include daughter, Patsy Ann Rosenbalm Philemon, Huntersville; son, Ewing S. Travis Jr., Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Maude Cross, Bristol Tennessee, and Ruth Jones, Bristol Virginia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special step-grandson, Mike Hodge; and special friends, Tony and Carolyn Campbell and Larry and Glenna Reynolds.

MEADOWVIEW - The committal service for Mr. Jack David Hale will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring. Those wishing to attend the committal service should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Thursday for the funeral procession.

Millard Calvin Horn
DORAN, Va. - Mr. Millard Calvin Horn, 77, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, in a Richlands hospital following a long illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Eli and Minnie Southard Horn. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired coal miner with Jewell Ridge Coal Co. and a member of the U.M.W.A.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Carlos and Paul Horn; two infant brothers; one sister, Catherine Clifton; and one daughter, Mable Horn.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georgia Mounts Horn; one son, Edward Horn and wife Brenda of Pounding Mill, Va.; one brother, Ezra Horn of Whitewood, Va.; two grandsons, Beau Horn and Seth Horn, both of Pounding Mill; and one special niece, Kay Horn of Jewell Ridge, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Grady McGlothlin and Rev. Wayne White officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Casey-Shortt V.F.W. Post 9640 and the Tazewell County Chapter 31 D.A.V.

Mary M. Hurt
WISE - Mary Edith Miller Hurt, 79, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Oakwood Heritage Hospital, Taylor, Mich.
She was a homemaker and will be remembered fondly for her cooking and baking skills.
Edith was born in Wise and later moved to Michigan where she spent most of her adult life. She and her husband, Leo, returned to Wise where they resided in retirement for several years. In 1995, they moved back to Michigan to be with their daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo G. Hurt; and her parents, Thomas and Sarah Belle Wilson Miller.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Hurt of Taylor; and two brothers, Cecil Miller and wife Gladys of Wise and William Thomas Miller and wife Bobbie of Georgia.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, with Rev. Eddie Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery, Wise. The family will receive friends 1:30 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. Friday at Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise.

Gaines S. King
BLOUNTVILLE - Gaines Stephenson (Steve) King, 53, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Born Feb. 13, 1949, in Russell County, he was a son of Cecil W. King and the late Billie Ann Chafin King. He retired in December, 2001, from Tennessee Eastman after 32 years of service.
Steve loved helping others and outdoor activities, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Kylene King; a stepson, Clint Peters and wife Robin Peters, and two grandsons, Jordan Peters and Peyton Peters, all of Fort Blackmore, Va.; his father, Cecil W. King and wife Dorothy King, Lebanon; one brother, William T. (Bill) King and wife Nancy King, Lebanon; two sisters, Anna Jean Osborne and husband Garland Osborne, Kingsport and Rosella Carrier and husband Steve Carrier, Dallas; nephews, Tom King and Jon Booher; nieces, Carolyn Keene, Ellen West, Aliceson Bales and Ashley Carrier; and great-nephews, Aaron Keene, Anthony King and William West.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel in Lebanon with the Rev. Chris Musick officiating. Entombment will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon. Bettie Geraline Miracle
NORTON - Bettie Geraline (Minnix) Miracle, 63, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. A former resident of Norton, she recently moved to Rutledge. Born to the late Paul and Virgia Ruth (Cooke) Minnix. She was of the Christian faith. An avid sportslady, she enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was a nurse since 1958 with 20 years of service with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Unit 18, having retired in 2000.
She was a fan of the Silver Screen and cowboy westerns.
She is survived by: husband, William Miracle, Rutledge; daughter and son-in-law, Deniese and Doug Brooks, Knoxville; granddaughter, Whitney Strouth, Knoxville; sister, Sandra Hayworth, Corsicana, Texas; niece, Jill Stone, Paris, Texas; and two great-nieces, Reagan and Meredith Stone, Paris, Texas.

Mrs. Rose, 83, formerly of Darwin, Va., died at the Brian Center in Claremont on Monday, Sept. 23, 2002.
