SALTVILLE - Mr. Charles William "Crossie" Thompson, 74, born March 16, 1928, in Smyth County, Va.,. died Tuesday, Nov. 19 , 2002, at his home in Saltville. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Hattie Harmon, Virginia Henderson, Bess Stumbo, Beulah Sweat, Helen Collins and Liz Sweet.
Survivors: his wife, Zella Tolbert Thompson, Saltville; one sister, Billie Robbins, Glade Spring; one brother, Johnny Thompson of the home; three stepsons, Laney Kestner, Rev. Wade Kestner and R.J. Kestner, all of Saltville; two stepdaughters, Eula Caudill, Saltville and Louise Robbins, Chilhowie; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Henderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Collins officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pineridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Robbins, Dennis Sykes, Daryl Jackson, Ronnie Powers, Jerry Frye, Garland Hogston, Tom Sweet, Kenny Collins, William Stumbo and Rocky Stumbo. Honorary pallbearers and special friends are Allen Cardwell, Big E Eastridge, Lincoln Hunt and Henry Cardwell. ST. PAUL - Graveside services for Angelina Sproles Turner will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, with Father Paul Maier officiating. The funeral procession will leave from Castlewood Funeral Home for the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Brit Bentley, Mark Sproles, Jessee Turner, Jim Fields, Greg Sproles, Jamie Sproles, Roger Turner and Tim Austin.

SALTVILLE - Mrs. Alice C. Allison, 84, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at her home. She was born April 16, 1918, in Saltville where she spent her entire life. She was a member of the Cardwell Town Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; her son, James; her grandson, Jeffrey Blevins; her parents, Susie and Andrew Chapman; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors: two daughters, Christine Bradley, Marietta, Ga., and Mary Pierce, Weston, Fla.; two sons-in-law, George Bradley and Jeff Pierce; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Allison, Karn City, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Kim Pierce and Robert Hoover, James & Kim Allison, Lare Allison and Don Selfridge, James Bradley, Susan Bradley and Tom Timmons; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Allison, Dessa Selfridge and Miles Hoover; one sister, Lula Broady, Lenoir, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Henderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Surber and Rev. Jimmy Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening prior to the funeral service. Services for Joe Allen Arnold will be held 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Niles Kitzmiller officiating. Private burial will be held in Sunrise Cemetery. KINGSPORT - Margaret Atkinson, 70, of 1403 Miller St., was called home at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at her home.
Born in Russell County, Va., Margaret resided in Charlotte, N.C., before moving to Kingsport where she lived for the past 13 years.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Her parents, Burchard and Margie Musick; a sister, Myrtle Musick; and a grandson, Michael Swafford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Baker, Kingsport; a son, Michael Craig Swafford and wife Amy, Kingsport; four grandchildren, Samantha Baker, Joseph Baker, Michelle Swafford and Cynthia Swafford; four sisters, Mary Smith, Bristol Tennessee, Annette Musick, Cleveland, Va., Edith Isenberg and Linda Sue Hite, both of Kingsport; eight brothers, Bill Musick, Augusta Springs, Va., Elmer (Dick) Musick, Cleveland, Gordon Musick, Richmond, Doug Musick, Kingsport, Jack Musick, Wytheville, Kenneth Ed Musick, Lebanon, Emmit Musick, Cleveland and Allen Musick, Honaker; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hamlet-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating.

Lynda Y. Boggs
LEBANON - Lynda Sue Yates Boggs, 59, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at the Russell County Medical Center.
Born April 20, 1943, in Russell County, she was a daughter of Charles Bruce Yates and the late Eula Faye Hess Yates. She was a graduate of Southwest Virginia Community College and the University of North Carolina, Asheville. A nurse practitioner, she practiced with Dr. Darlene Litton at Med Express in Bristol Virginia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Honaker for many years.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Rick Honaker, Lexington, Ky., and Sonya and Johnny Martin, Castlewood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Susan Boggs, Locust Grove, Va., and Bruce and Amanda Boggs, Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Shanna, Brent and Eric Honaker, Emily and Sam Martin and Seth and Shae Boggs; one sister, Billie Jo Yates, Lebanon; and one brother, C.B. Yates Jr., Honaker.
A private funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, in the Lebanon Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Musick and the Rev. Tom Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations are being made to Lighthouse Ministries, Route 1, Box 377 J5, Castlewood, VA 24224. Contributions will go toward a mission medical clinic in her name.

Mamie H. Bralley
IVANHOE, Va. - Mamie Ester Holliday Bralley, 97, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2002, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in Wythe County, daughter of the late Charles Robert and Annie Strickler Holliday. She was a member of Forest United Methodist Church and Ivanhoe Sunshine Rebekah Lodge 20. Mrs. Bralley was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac H. "Ike" Bralley; a son, Edward Michael "Mickey" Bralley; four sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles "Cork" and Doris Bralley of Rural Retreat, Va., and James Robert "Jim Bob" and Dixie Bralley of Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Betty Holliday of Ivanhoe; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. A.C. Ashford and the Rev. Mike Waller officiating. Interment will follow in The Odd Fellows Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Sunshine Rebekah Lodge 20 will conduct a memorial service Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Anna M. Hancock
CERES, VA. - Anna Lois McFarland Hancock, 86, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, after a long illness in Takoma Adventist Hospital, Greeneville, Tenn. She made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Aileen and Donald Solomon, Greeneville, since 1998. She was born in Bland County, daughter of the late Loranza D. "L.D." McFarland and Rosa Mae King McFarland. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Hancock; a grandson, Robert Thompson; and a great-granddaughter, Erica Burton.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mae and Donald Hanshew of Ceres, Doris and Lenden Thompson of Burkes Garden, Va., and Aileen and Donald Solomon of Greeneville; one son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Tammy Hancock of Ceres; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ruthanne Henley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Bland Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday or at the home of her son, Alvin, at any time.

Mr. Horne, 81, of Bristol Tennessee, passed away Sept. 15, 2002, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn.

Christopher C. Laney
EDINBURGH, Ind. - Christopher Charles Laney, 17, of 9337 S. 825 W., died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Ind. Born in Columbus, Ind., he was a son of Christopher Lynn Laney and Charlene Sue McPeek. He was a high school student at Southwestern High School and was active in the basketball program. He had previously attended elementary school in Kingsport, Tenn.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two half sisters, Melissa Weber, Edinburgh and Jerra Burton, Columbus; grandmother, Rita Hedges, Indianapolis; and great-grandmother, Katherine Joy McPeek, Columbus.
Funeral service will be Friday in Edinburgh.

Vada W. Livingston
Vada Dolly Willis Livingston, 87, of 316 Magnolia Drive, Bristol, Va., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born the daughter of the late Samuel and Alpha Hopkins Willis in Blackwater, Va. She was a housewife and had lived in the Bristol area since 1942. Mrs. Livingston was a member of North Bristol Baptist Church where she was a member of Rebecca's Circle and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lester Livingston.
Survivors include daughters, Helen L. Harrington and Callie L. Bowery, both of Bristol Virginia; grandchildren, Timothy Daniel Harrington, Beth Anne Leonard, Callie Renee Emmert and Dolly Mae Terlizzi; sister. Euna Wallen of Whitmire, S.C.; brother, Lester Willis of Whitmire; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Eli Leonard, Caleb Emmert and David Eric Terlizzi; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ellen Tucker, Karen Parks and Patsy Hushour.

Mrs. Love, 77, of 1520 Kentucky Ave., Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Wellmont Hospice House.

Robert S. Morrison
ASHTABULA, Ohio - Robert S. Morrison, 92, founder of Molded Fiber Glass companies, died Monday, Sept. 16, at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Morrison was born in Ashtabula on Nov. 19, 1909, the son of Frederick and Edith (Root) Morrison. He graduated from Ashtabula High School and from Oberlin College with honors in economics. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Henry.
Survivors include his wife Helen (Scott) whom he married July 22, 1939; four children, Louise Raffa of Ashtabula, Robert D. Morrison of Ft. Wayne, Nancy Warner of Ashtabula and Richard Morrison of Concord Township; nine grandchildren, James and Douglas Morrison, Ann Qualls, Thomas, Robert and Alec Raffa, Garth Warner, Bethany Miller and Hilary Morrison; and three great-grandchildren, Tyra Miller, Jalen Miller and Adil Morrison.
He attended Harvard Business School, did economic and marketing research in Milwaukee before moving to Ashtabula and establishing Morrison Motors, a Ford dealership. He became president of the Ashtabula Industrial Corporation which was founded by several Ashtabula businessmen to attract new industry to the area.
A lifelong entrepreneur he founded MFG in 1948, which eventually grew to include 12 divisions in several states. He established a profit sharing bonus system for all MFG employees which remains in effect today. He was also a chairman and chief executive officer of Morrison Molded Fiber Glass Company of Bristol Virginia; MFG Justin Tank Company of Georgetown, Delaware, and Creative Millwork of Ohio in Ashtabula. He assisted many companies in getting started in Ashtabula.
Robert Morrison developed many new processes and products utilizing fiber glass reinforced plastics and was responsible for the Chevrolet Corvette having a fiber glass body. For his contributions to the industry he was elected a charter member of the plastics Hall of Fame in 1973.
He was a prolific and published writer, authoring a daily syndicated newspaper column as well as a series of articles for the Ashtabula Star Beacon on the importance of economics in daily living.
He wrote four books, The Con-Tax Plan; Inflation Can be Stopped; Handbook for Manufacturing Entrepreneurs and (with Angus Ray) The Real War on Inflation Has Not Begun. He was interviewed on national television many times and invited to discuss his ideas at the White House with President Ford's Board of Economic Advisors. He was a frequent speaker before numerous groups around the USA.
Always regarded as a man who expressed what he believe, he offered advice and encouragement to anyone who sought his help. He was strongly instructive to elected officials about their responsibilities to the general public for he knew what really mattered most to the average citizen. His love for animals led him to be instrumental in the construction of a new shelter for the Animal Protective League. He and his wife, Helen, continued to be major benefactors to the league. His main hobby was golf and he supported local area golf teams.
He has received numerous awards over the years including the Chamber of Commerce Award of Excellence, the President's Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the County Growth Partnership and Special Recognition by the State of Ohio Department of Development. He was a director of the Ohio Manufacturer's Association, a Trustee of Grand River Academy and a member of the Second Congregational Church serving as a chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Stewardship Committee. He often said his social responsibility was to provide good employment for as many people as possible.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Second Congregational Church, 319 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with Rev. Glen Warner officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery in Ashtabula.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Second Congregational Church or the Animal Protective League. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
