MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Funeral services for Virginia Irene McAmis will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton.
Mrs. McAmis, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in a Murfreesboro hospital.
Dolly Dema McCloud
POUNDING MILL, Va. --Funeral services for Dolly Dema McCloud will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in the Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Phillip Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon. Pallbearers will be family.
Mrs. McCloud, 75, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at her residence.

Eva E. Ratliff
VANSANT - Eva Mae Effler Ratliff, 77 years of age, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, in Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy. Born in McDowell County, W.Va.,. Oct. 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Henry Effler and Cecil Presley Effler. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Vansant Church of Christ. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arville Ratliff; one brother, Garland Effler; and two sisters, Mary Lois Hess and Lethia Effler.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandy Keene of Vansant, Va., Mrs. Bobby (Carol Kay) Church and Mrs. Noah (Charlene) Vandyke, both of Abingdon, and Mrs. George (Debbie) Childress of Vansant; one son, Terry Ratliff and wife Cheryl of Vansant; two sisters, Margaret Shelton of Lakeland, Fla., and Irene Carter of Herndon, W.Va. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, with Evangelist Mike Rife and Evangelist Jerry Bliffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Woods, W.S. (Red) Cook, Paul Smith, Junior Sexton and Heritage Hall Nursing staff C-Wing.
The body will be left at the funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Song service will be at 8 p.m.

Ted Cecil Smith
GRUNDY - Ted Cecil Smith, 51 years of age, of the Slate Creek area, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at his home from an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Albert Cecil and Ida Mae Estep Smith. He was a life-long resident of Buchanan County, a graduate of Grundy High School, Southwest Virginia Community College and attended East Tennessee State University. He was a disabled truck driver. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Lucille Lester Smith.
He is survived by one son, Richard Lee Smith, Mooresville, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Patience Marie Helton and Richard Lee Smith Jr.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Marie Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roscoe Rife and James Chapman officiating with burial to follow in Estep Cemetery at the Mouth of Laurel Creek, Hurley, Va.
Friends may call at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m. with services at 7 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Gerald Ward, Arlie Bowman, Ronnie Brewster, Roger Daugherty, William Daugherty and Russell Daugherty.

Kyle Stacy
GRUNDY - Kyle Stacy, 57 years of age, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Berlen and Callie Stacy. He was a life-long resident of Buchanan County and a disabled coal miner.
He is survived by three daughters; three sons, Jerald L. Stacy, Robert Stacy and Kyle Stacy Jr.; three sisters, Martha Anderson, California, Ruby Caudle, Richlands and Wanda Stacy, Grundy; and one brother, Carroll Stacy, Whitewood, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. James Chapman and Roscoe Rife officiating with burial to follow in Smith Branch Cemetery on Slate Creek, Grundy.
Friends may call at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. with services at 7 p.m.

Arnold Lee Worley
Arnold Lee "Pete" Worley, 91, of 122 Wampler Road, Bristol, Tenn., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late George and Lauria Bowman Worley and was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Worley; and two brothers, Rufus Worley and G.W. Worley. Mr. Worley was a member of the Church of God and a retired employee of Outdoor West.
Survivors include daughter, Ruby Martin of Abingdon; sister, Clara Worley Jackson of Bristol Virginia; brothers, Bob Worley of Bristol Tennessee and Joe Worley of Bristol Virginia; grandchildren, Robin Kestner, Ricky Carmack and Rusty Carmack, all of Abingdon; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Epperson officiating. Pallbearers are Allen Worley, Roger Worley, Melton Worley, Montey Worley, Gary Worley and Herbert Cross. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Arnold, Mitchell Orfield and Dustin Carmack.

Alice Feathers Wright, 75, formerly of Bristol Virginia, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Cambridge House, where she and her husband have lived for the past three years. She was a life long resident of Bristol and member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Landon Wright; a daughter, Carolyn Smith of Banner Elk, N.C.; a son, William Wright Jr. of Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Edna Cameron of Baltimore and Shirley Maines of Monticello, Wis.; a brother, Joe Feathers of Bristol Virginia; a half brother, Charles Feather of Bristol Virginia; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in the Chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home . Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 Thursday morning prior to the service at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. . GRUNDY - Sharon Kay Sparks Elkins, 42 years of age, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Buchanan General Hospital. Born in Huntington, W.Va., Feb. 25, 1960, she was the daughter of Clyde Sparks and Nora Dingess Sparks of Big Creek, W.Va. She moved to Grundy in 1998 with her husband who pastors the Grundy Church of God, attended Southwest Virginia Community College and was employed as a bookkeeper for Miners & Merchants Bank. Sharon was a loving wife to her husband of 26 years.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Sparks; maternal grandfather, Norwood Dingess; and paternal grandparents, Less Sparks and Jessie Sparks.
She is survived by her parents, Clyde Sparks and Nora Dingess Sparks of Big Creek; her husband, Douglas F. Elkins of Grundy; maternal grandmother, Ottie Dingess of Big Creek; one sister, Carolyn Thompson of Madison, N.C.; and two brothers, Richard Sparks and Alan Sparks, both of Chapmanville, W.Va. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Stone Branch Church of God in Stone Branch, W.Va.,. with Reverend Larry Brooks and Reverend Harry Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Logan, W.Va.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mary Sue Jennings, 75, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Scott County, Va., a daughter of the late Charles E. and Virginia Osborne Jennings and lived most of her life in Bristol. She was retired from Bristol Nursing Home and was a member of West Hills Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Cross and her husband Jimmy of Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Helen Creech of Heiskell, Tenn., and Margie Davis of Tannersville, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Opal Jennings and Patty Jennings, both of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Jennings and Bill Jennings.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening in West Hills Christian Church with Rev. Gary Knapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 p.m. at the church. The committal service will be conducted at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon. MARION - William S. "Bill" Mason, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, in Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport after a brief illness. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Tank Battalion. Mr. Mason was motor route carrier for the Roanoke Times for 30 years and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Sr. and Ellanora Johnson Mason. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Catron Mason of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Todd Oakes of Marion; one grandson, James Michael Oakes of Marion; one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Oakes of Marion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jeff Thomas and Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating.
