Actor, Franklin Cover, best known for his role as Tom Willis, George and Louise Jefferson's white neighbor in The Jeffersons, has died. He was 77. Cover died of pneumonia at the Lillian Booth Actor's Fund of America home in Englewood, where had been living since December 2005 while recuperating from a heart condition.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Cover began his six-decade long acting career as a stage actor, appearing in Shakespeare's Hamlet and Henry IV, and later, in a variety of Broadway productions, including Any Wednesday, Wild Honey and Born Yesterday. Cover made his mark on the silver screen as well with roles in The Great Gatsby, The Stepford Wives and Wall Street. He also made numerous appearances on television shows, including The Jackie Gleason Show, All in the Family, Who's the Boss? Will & Grace, Living Single, Mad About You and ER, but he will always be remembered for his role on the long-running sitcom The Jeffersons, which ran from 1975 to 1985.
Cover is survived by his wife, Mary, and their two children, Bradford and Susan.
