December 25, 1945 - May 11, 2003
Noel Redding, bassist for legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, has died today at the age of 57. Details of his death are still undisclosed at this time. Redding was born on December 25th, 1945 in in Folkestone, in the English county of Kent.. He joined Jimmy Hendrix in 1967 for Hendrix’s debut album “Are you Experienced”. along with drummer Mitch Mitchell. They recorded a number of successful albums, up until Hendrix’s death in 1970. The remainder of the group disbanded. Noel Redding went on with his career as a bass guitarist and joined the group Fat Mattress and later formed the Noel Redding Band. This past February, Redding announced plans to sue Experience Hendrix for up to $5 million over difficulties receiving royalties for some of his recordings. With some of his earnings from his time with Hendrix, Redding bought a home in County Cork, in Ireland. In 1996, he published a book compiled from his diaries and legal files, titled ``Are You Experienced?''
