Actress Dorothy Patrick, who appeared in a number of family oriented movies in the 1940's and 1950's, died May 30, 1987.
Patrick was born in Canada on June 3, 1921. She became a Powers Model in New York, and began a show business career after being noticed by a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer talent scout while appearing on stage. During this time, she was also a Chesterfield Girl, in Chesterfield's cigarette advertising campaign.
Her film debut was Boys Ranch. Patrick, who married star hockey player Lynn Patrick, made more than 25 movies during her career.
Some of her notable film credits include Come to the Stable, Men of the Fighting Lady, Mighty McGurk, Torch Song, and New Orleans, the latter film starring Billy Holiday.
She co-starred with Robert Walker as Mrs. Jerome Kern in the musical Till The Clouds Roll By.
She retired from filmmaking in 1956 to raise her sons.
Patrick died from complications of cancer at the UCLA Medical Center on May 30, 1987.
Survivors included her two sons, Terry and Les Patrick, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Mortuary.
