Funeral arrangements by Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel
Earl Warren a legendary Canadian radio personality died Saturday at the age 69 years. Last week, doctors confirmed that he had lung cancer and that it had spread to his liver. Originally from Regina, he was told by a station manager at the age of 17 years to drop his last name ”Segal” to became Earl Warren. On October 6, 2002 he signed off on his final show which was very difficult for him, commented his son Murray Segal. His son said his father was like family to his listeners. "What my father had that was unique was ... an ability to connect with people," he said. "He understood people and made people feel like family, like friends.". He leaves Slater, his partner of 16 years, and daughters Shawn Powell, Dena Maule and Blair Scott. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday October 22, 2002 at the Benjamin Park Memorial Chapel, 2104 Steeles Ave. W. Today's radio show will be hosted by Warren's long-time friend, Jim Paulson.
