November 18, 1962 - March 19, 1993
Jeff Ward, former drummer and best known for playing with the Industrial band Nine Inch Nails committed suicide on March 19, 1993. The drummer had a serious addiction to heroin which he tried so hard to overcome. Unfortunately, Jeff took his own life, unable to deal with the demons and the darkness of his drug habit. Jeff Ward died of asphyxiation by carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 30. Jeff Ward played drums for a number of Chicago based Industrial groups like Ministry, Lard, and was currently touring with Low Pop prior to his suicide.
Jeff’s life and suicide affected former band mates like Trent Rezner of Nine Inch Nails. The lead vocalist released the song “Downward Spiral”, a song about an individual loosing control of his life, to the point of no return. Friend and former band mate Richard Patrick front man for Filter released the song entitled "It's over". The song is about a desperate individual who feels suicide is his only recourse. By taking his own life, the individual can escape to a new world where there is no more pain and suffering.
