September 12, 1903 - March 18, 1976
James McCartney is the father of the world famous Beatles musician Paul McCartney. James McCartney was married to Paul's mom, Mary, who was a mid-wife. James was originally from Britain and Mary an Irish Catholic. The McCartney's had two sons Michael and Paul. The young family travelled quite frequently, however finally settling in the middle class town of Liverpool U.K.
James was a cotton salesman who worked hard to provide for his family. Tragedy struck the McCartney household when Mary, wife of James and mother of Paul died of breast cancer when Paul McCartney was 14 years old. Although the McCartney household was never the same again, music was still apart of their lives. James loved to play the piano and often worked as a jazz musician by night. James inspired his sons to follow in his love for music. James introduced the Piano to both Paul and younger brother Michael. It wasn't long until Paul discovered his love for the guitar. Paul saw Lonnie DonnegaIt perform live and begged his father to buy him a guitar. Paul was the only child who took after his father's musical talent.
