Born March 25, 1892, in Blairgowris, Scotland, Andy Clyde was a popular and prolific motion picture, and television actor of the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. He specialized in memorable comedic roles and was the brother of actor David Clyde and actress Jean Clyde.
Andy Clyde worked for the Paramount and United Artists studios. He was well known for his portrayal of Hopalong Cassidy's sidekick, California Carlson in the 40's, taking over for George "Gabby" Hayes, who played the character Windy Halliday in Hoppy's early movies in the late 30's and early 40's.
On May 18, 1967, Andy Clyde died in Los Angeles, California at the age of 75. He is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale Los Angeles County, California.
