Lillian R. Avery, 100, of Island Pond died peacefully on August 9, 2007, in Newport.
Mrs. Avery was born May 3, 1907, in Island Pond, a daughter of Arsene and Elsie (Thibodeau) Riggie.
On May 5, 1928, she married dentist Leland L. Avery, who predeceased her in 1976. She was a dental assistant to her husband for many years.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Berlin, New Hampshire.
In May she celebrated her one-hundredth birthday at Derby Green.
She is survived by two children, Patricia Wilcox and her husband, George, of Island Pond and Lloyd Avery and his wife, Barbara, of Newark; by nine grandchildren; by 17 great-grandchildren; and by three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Lucille Yevette Marie LaMothe
Lucille Yevette Marie LaMothe, 79, of Newport, died February 4, 2001, in Newport.
Miss LaMothe was born June 13, 1921, in Bromont, Québec, to Omer and Edna (Lagimoniere) LaMothe. When she was ten years old she came to live in Newport with her parents where her father was employed at the Canadian Pacific Railroad Company. She attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Schools. She was an honor student and joined many local activities. She played violin in the orchestra, and she was a good tennis player. After graduation she did secretarial work for an insurance company. At that time her mother became very ill, and her father asked her to stay at home and look after her mother so it would not disrupt the family. After several months her mother had a remission, and during those days she did a few months more of secretarial work. After that she took care of her mother for the next 20 years. After her mother's death she did volunteer work among the elderly until the time of her death.
She is survived by several cousins and by good friends, Daniel DeLaBruere and his wife, Carol Lynn, of Newport and by many other good friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 10, with the Reverend George Paulin and the Reverend Leopold Bilodeau co-celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Spring interment will be in the ancestral plot of St. Vincent Cemetery in Bromont, Québec, in the town where she was born.

Floyd Harold Bowen
Floyd Harold Bowen, 81, of West Charleston, beloved husband of Joanne Bowen, died peacefully February 1, 2001, in Newport.
Mr. Bowen was born on December 12, 1919, in Morgan, a son of Edmond and Rena (Barry) Bowen. He was a World War II veteran. Sergeant Bowen served in the United States Army as a machinist. On June 1, 1963, he married Joanne Broome, who survives him. He was a thermal technician for Whitney Chain Company in Hartford, Connecticut, for 25 years. He was a 40-year member of American Legion Post No. 80 of Island Pond. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sorts of sports.
Besides his wife, Joanne, of West Charleston; he is survived by his son Floyd Harold Bowen Jr., and his wife, Patricia, of Peninsula, Ohio, and by his grandchildren: Floyd Harold Bowen III of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Bryant Kevin Bowen of Huffield, Ohio, and Curtis William Bowen of Canton, Ohio; by his seven great-grandchildren; and by two sisters and a brother: Avis Mayall of Derby, Maynard Bowen of Athens, Tennessee, and Pearl Gray and husband, Pete, of Coventry, Connecticut.
Spring graveside services will be held at Hillside Cemetery in East Charleston with military honors.
