Kenneth Max Chaplin, 68, of Newport Center died suddenly November 27, 2000, in Newport.
Mr. Chaplin was born on November 2, 1932, the son of Perley and Grace (Smith) Chaplin. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he did a short tour of duty. He was a chef for most of his life. He retired from the Junction 101 Restaurant in Troy. He enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.
He is survived by his son Brian Chaplin and his wife, Judy, of Troy; by a sister, Pauline Boncek, and her husband, Eddy, of West Charleston; by half-brothers Earl Stewart and his wife, Peggy, of Westfield and Robert Chaplin and his wife, Doris, of Hardwick; by several nieces and nephews; and by a special friend, Robert Santaw, of Newport Center. He was predeceased by his mother, Grace Stewart; by his stepfather Edwin Stewart; and by a half-brother, Ralph Chaplin.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 29, with the Reverend Roger Fletcher officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Troy Cemetery.

Nelson Elmer Corneau
Nelson Elmer Corneau, 81, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Thursday, November 16, 2000, at Redmon Regional Hospital in Rome, Georgia.
Mr. Corneau was born in Ridge Water, Massachusetts, on February 16, 1919, the son of Alec and Marye (Boyer) Corneau. He retired from the U.S. Army, then was employed as a civil servant.
He is survived by his sisters Alvina Loiselle and Rita Remillard, both of Sherbrooke, Quebec. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Madge Steadham Corneau; by his brothers: Louis, Charles, Raymond, and Ludger Corneau; and by his sisters Cecile Dostie and Alma Corneau.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, November 25, at Sacred Heart Church in Stanstead, Quebec. Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Stanstead.

Alice Rebecca Ryan Heinchon
Alice "Becky" Ryan Heinchon, 81, died Sunday, November 26, 2000, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, following a long illness.
Mrs. Heinchon was born in Craftsbury Common on January 3, 1919, the daughter of Craig and Myrtie (Pike) Cole. She was a 1938 graduate of Craftsbury Academy. On December 28, 1940, she married James Ryan, who died June 14, 1968. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in Craftsbury. She married William Heinchon on May 7, 1972. She and Bill lived in Walden a few years before moving back to Craftsbury and operating Hi-Hope Greenhouse.
She will be fondly remembered for her great love of children, flowers, and the simple joys of family life. Her expertise ranged from managing farms to gardening, bread and pie making, sewing, braiding rugs, and above all, keeping a family happy, healthy, and loved.
She leaves her husband, Bill, of Craftsbury; three sons: Marvin Ryan and his wife, Lois, William Ryan and his wife, Carolyn, and Paul Ryan, all of Craftsbury; six daughters: Ann Gilcris and her husband, Larry, of Natural Bridge, New York, Jeanne Locke and her husband, Paul, of Springfield, Nancy Martell of Richmond, Kathleen Ryan of Norwich, Laureen Ryan of North Kingston, Rhode Island, and Anita Caraballo and her husband, Pedro, of North Kingston. She also leaves three stepchildren: Richard Heinchon and his wife, Liz, of Tehachapi, California, Donald Heinchon of Dover Plains, New York, and Jamie Heinchon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a brother Levi Cole and his wife, Ona, of Craftsbury Common; 14 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Howard Cole; by a stepbrother, Wendell Gage; and by a son-in-law, Alfred Martell.
There will be a private family funeral with interment in Craftsbury Village Cemetery.
