Warren Carl Hill Sr., 92, of Greensboro died peacefully at Woodridge Nursing Home with his family at his side on November 23, 2000.
Mr. Hill was born in Greensboro on May 20, 1908, the son of Alvah and Grace (Towle) Hill of Greensboro. He farmed for many years in the Greensboro area. In the mid-1960s he began doing carpentry work. He was involved in building hospitals and churches in Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts. He was an avid sugar maker, an occupation he enjoyed from childhood until several years ago. He will be remembered for always keeping snow in the freezer all year long so that he could sugar-off for company in the summer. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He was a devoted brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. On October 25, 1932, he married Vena Fuller, who predeceased him on April 21, 1945. On January 1, 1951, he married Barbara Tyler, who predeceased him on July 21, 1976. In recent years he made his home with Warren and Irene Hill in Greensboro Bend.
Survivors include his daughter Thurley Denio of Sterling, Massachusetts, and her children: Debbie and her husband, Herb, Leon and his wife, Lisa, Alison and her husband, Ignasio, and Jason and his wife, Carolyn; his daughter Marjorie Mathewson of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and her children: Tammy and her husband, Paul, Bonnie and her husband, Ken, Crystal, Denise and her husband, Jim, and Sondra; his son Warren and his wife, Irene, and their children Jennifer and Warren III and his wife, Laura; his daughter Kathleen Thompson, her husband, Dan, and their children: Michael, Daniel, Eric, James, and Danielle; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his brother Lewis and his wife, Nancy, of Greensboro.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 27, at United Church of Christ in Greensboro with interment following in Stannard Cemetery.

Beatrice J. LaBounty
Beatrice J. LaBounty, 83, died Wednesday evening, November 22, 2000, at her home in West Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Mrs. LaBounty was born August 25, 1917, in Adamsville, Quebec, a daughter of Henry and Evelyn (LeDuc) Tremblay. She attended schools in both Canada and Vermont and married Nelson E. LaBounty in 1933 in Barton. They moved to White River Junction and lived there until 1955 when they moved to Albany. In Albany they operated a farm for ten years before returning to White River Junction in 1965. Mr. LaBounty died September 6, 1983. Mrs. LaBounty later moved to Maple Manor in West Lebanon. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church in West Lebanon.
She is survived by two sons, Philip LaBounty of Culpepper, Virginia, and Peter LaBounty of Piermont, New Hampshire; by two daughters, Janet Guillette of West Lebanon and Pauline Chase of Utica, New York; by ten grandchildren; by nine great-grandchildren; by a brother, Theodore Tremblay; by a sister, Adrienne Gauthier, of Wilder; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Maurice, in 1945.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, November 27, at Holy Redeemer Church in West Lebanon. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Junction.

Myrna J. Menzel
Myrna J. Menzel, 72, of Island Pond, beloved wife of Marvin Menzel, died peacefully in Newport on November 26, 2000, following a long illness.
Mrs. Menzel was born on July 26, 1928, in Otisfield, Maine, a daughter of Carl and Phyllis (Reed) Fickett. On May 19, 1990, she married Marvin Menzel who survives her. She was a florist in Connecticut for many years. She enjoyed her flower garden, gambling at Foxwoods Casino, and snowmobiling with friends and family. She held memberships with American Legion Auxiliary Post #80, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the Ramdon Ladies Club, all of Island Pond.
Besides her husband, Marvin, she is survived by her sons Dean Purinton of Durham, Maine, and George Purinton of New Gloucester, Maine; by her grandchildren: Matthew and Angela Purinton, Krista Purinton Brown, and Trevor Purinton; by a great-granddaughter, Ella Rose Brown; by her sisters: Winona Polland of Otisfield, and Naida Skillin and Theva Stevens, both of New York; by a brother, Carl Fickett, of Auburn, Maine; and by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Should friends desire contributions in Mrs. Menzel's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Loomis Street, Montpelier, Vermont 05602.

Phyllis Moreau
A memorial service for Phyllis Moreau of Derby will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line on December 2. A luncheon reception will be held at noon, to be followed by a Memorial Mass at 2 p.m. Mrs. Moreau died on October 5, 2000, in Springfield, Massachusetts. A book on rug hooking has been donated in her memory by Rug Hookers of Newport to Derby Town Library. She was an active member of Derby Homemakers, who have planted a tree in her memory at the library. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Edward's, and this group will be planting a memorial tree at the church.
