Yvette L. Retallick, 65, of Newport, VT passed away peacefully on December 16, 2013 in Newport, VT. She was born July 31, 1948 in Waterloo, Quebec to Gaston Marc-Aurele and Marie-Jeanne (Racicot) Marc-Aurele. On October 25, 1969 she married John Retallick who survives her.
She helped her husband on their farm in Richford, VT.
She loved to walk her dogs Willie and Feather and getting to know all her neighbors. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, fishing, and she was always willing to lend a hand and being there for everyone.
She is survived by her husband John Retallick of Newport, VT, by her children: Mary Jane Fournier of Manchester, NH, and Gaston Retallick of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by her sisters: Helene Racicot and her husband Alfred of Weare, NH, Gertrude Tetreault and her husband Andre of Lowell, VT, by her brother-in-law Real Gauvin of Lowell, VT, and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Beatrice Gauvin. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Lyle James Cargill
September 3, 1920 - December 16, 2013
Lyle James Cargill, 93, of Derby, VT passed away on December 16, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born on September 3, 1920 in Morgan, VT to Bernie and Ola (Elliott) Cargill. He graduated from Derby Academy in the class of 1938. On June 22, 1944 he married Cleora Ewens who predeceased him on May 8, 1961. On October 19, 1963 he married Edith Nichols who survives him.
Lyle was a foreman for State Highway Department. He was also a dairy farmer and logger during his lifetime.
He was an avid fisherman and Boston Red Sox Fan. He enjoyed playing cards, cutting firewood, making wooden toys and crafts and he loved his dogs.
He is survived by his wife Edith Cargill of Derby, VT, by his children: Dwight Cargill of Fairfax, VT, Duane Cargill and his wife Linda of Montana, Colleen Gray and her husband Reginald of Charlotte, VT, and Brian Cargill and his wife Marilyn of Bristol, VT, by his step-children: Reginald Gray of Charlotte, VT, Stuart Gray of Concord, VT, and Gary Griffin of Brandon, VT. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Everett and Clifton Cargill, by his sister Florence Rivard, and by his brother-in-law Floyd Page. He was also predeceased by two nieces: Katherine Rivard and Sarah Cargill and by his nephew Clifton Cargill, Jr. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the Morgan Center Cemetery with Rev. William A. Leonard, Jr
December 20, 1943 - April 14, 2015
William A. Leonard, Jr "Bill" of Jay, VT passed away peacefully on April 14, 2015 in Newport. He was born on December 20, 1943 in Manchester, CT to William and Helen Leonard. He was a machinist and carpenter. He worked many years in CT, and at Butterfields and at Ethan Allen as a machinist. For ten years he was a carpenter building many homes in the area including homes for both daughters. In retirement he drove for Fisher Auto and Green Mountain Electric.
He loved being with his family, he enjoyed coin collecting, motorcycling, camping, NASCAR and being outside.
He was a founding member and firefighter on the Jay Fire Department. He was a Captain and Lieutenant for 25 years. He was also proud of his wife being the first woman firefighter in the area. He was a member of Mutual Aid, a Jay Forest Warden for 25 years and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Leonard of Jay, VT, by his daughters: Kathy Murphy and her husband Dave of Jay, VT, Cindy Vincent Goodyear and her husband Matt of Jay, VT, and by his son William B. Leonard and his wife Betty of Newport Center, VT, by his grandchildren Dawn Waters and her husband Lenny of Glen Falls, NY, Steven Murphy and his friend Kassy of Jay, VT, Seth Vincent and fiancé Mel Ryea of North, Troy, VT,Jenna Vincent of Jay, VT, Brittany and Paige Leonard of Newport Center, VT. He was awaiting the arrival of his first great granddaughter in July. He is also survived by his siblings: Edward Leonard and his wife Vern of NY, Clifford Leoanrd and his wife Jackie of CT, Sandy and her husband Roger of CT, Patty of MA, by his brother-in-law John and his wife Rhonda of CT, and by several nieces and nephews. He will be really missed by his best friend, his dog, Ginger.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law Christopher Vincent in 2007, by his parents William and Helen Leoanrd, and his special grandparents William and Rose Leonard all of CT.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday April 18, 2015 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport, with the Rev. Rick Shover officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday April 18, 2015 from 12 Noon until the hour of the funeral. Interment will take place at a later date. Richard (Rick) C. Caples
June 5, 1947 - May 24, 2013
Richard (Rick) C. Caples, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 24, 2013 surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT. He was born in North Troy, VT on June 5, 1947 the son of Edward Caples and Beverly (Bolio) Caples. When Rick was a young he joined the military then worked at Jay Peak, Hayes Ford, Ethan Allen, Butterfields, and IBM.
He married Joyce (Jones) Caples on March 23, 1968. He loved fishing, bingo, and playing cards. Rick is survived by his wife Joyce, by his two sons: Richard Caples, Jr, and Roy Caples and his wife Naomi all of Derby, VT. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Savannah and husband Jason Williams, Ross, Heather, Patrick, Johnny, and Nicholas, by his great grandchildren: Emmett, Wrangler, Denim, and by his ex-daughter-in-law Althea Crocker.
Rick is also survived by his two sisters: Linda and husband Steve Star of Florida, Diane and husband Tim Bleau of Essex, VT, brothers: Spike and wife Mary Caples of Mississippi, and Chris Caples of N. Dakota, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both his parents and by a brother Kirby Caples.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the North Troy Village Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, locally family owned and operated.
Marguerite Chapdelaine

Marguerite Chapdelaine, 94, of St. Albans, VT passed away on May 27, 2013 in St. Albans. She was born August 13, 1918 in Beebe, Quebec the daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Langevin) Martel. On February 21, 1944 she married Rene Chapdelaine who predeceased her in 2004. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed working on cross word puzzles, jig saw puzzles, playing bingo and watching westerns on television.
She is survived by her children: Norman Chapdelaine of St. Albans, VT, and Raymond Chapdelaine of Stowe, VT. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Leo Martel, and by three sisters: Germaine Belleville, Alexandra and Antoinette.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday May 31, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newport, VT where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Kenneth W. Page, 91, of Derby, VT passed away on May 26, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born September 2, 1921 in Morgan, VT, the son of Guy and Freda (Nichols) Page. On April 7, 1950 he married Dorothy White who survives him.
Kenneth was a veteran of WW11. He was a machinist at Linton Industries in Derby Line, VT for many years. His love was his appliance shop at his home Derby, VT where he also enjoyed people coming to visit.
He was a member of the Church of God in Derby, VT.
He is survives by his wife Dorothy Page of Derby, VT by his son David Page of Island Pond, VT, by his brother Bruce Page of Southwick, MA, by his sisters-in-law Phyllis Page of Holland, VT and Anne Page of Florida and by his brother-in-law Charles Moulton of Charleston, VT and by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers: Stanley Page, Andrew Page, Floyd Page, Ronald Page Killed in Action in WW11, Ovis Page as an infant, by his sister Maxine Moulton, by his half brother Ernest Wheeler and by his half sister Ella Grady.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday May 31, 2013 at the Mead Hill Cemetery in Holland, VT with the Rev. Laurence Wall officiating. Full military honors will be held. Michael William Reidy
October 18, 1955 - May 17, 2013
Michael William Reidy, 57, born October 18, 1955 and raised in Holden, MA died at his home on May 17, 2013 in Jay, Vermont after a long illness.
He leaves his devoted wife Michelle, step mother Phyllis Handy, his children Nils, Hannah, and Shon Reidy, Jr; Jess and Zander Melo, Missy Ruggles, Kevin and Bethany Bonneau, his siblings Timothy Reidy of Colorado and Carolyn Reidy-Ruberti, Joseph Reidy, and Susan Huntington all of Massachusetts, many nieces, nephews, and cousins and countless lifelong friends.
Michael is predeceased by his father Edward Reidy who died in January 2012, and his mother Ruth (Lynch) Reidy who died in January 1991.
Michael was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend. Michael, sometimes known as Full Blast, lived his life to the fullest. He was captain of his fishing vessel “The Valkyrie”, a regatta winning sailor, and a maritime adventurer. The world was a better place with him in it.
We will be celebrating Michael’s life on June 1, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at his home in Jay, Vermont at 135 Elm Drive where he lived with his family. Immediately following his celebration Michael will be buried in the small town cemetery on Cemetery Road in Jay, VT.
