Donald Roger Whitehill, 66, of Morgan died suddenly in Newport on April 3, 2001.
Mr. Whitehill was born September 3, 1934, in Morgan, a son of Roger and Arlene (Maxwell) Whitehill. On October 13, 1956, he married Katherine Inez Lowell, who survives him. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1952. He was a dairy farmer all his life in Morgan. Among his hobbies he enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, coin collecting, working with farm animals, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He entered the U.S. Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Whitehill, of Morgan; by the following children: Cynthia Colburn and her husband, Bryan, of Milton, Rebecca Deyo and her husband, Victor, of Derby, Laura Benoit and her husband, Gary, of New Boston, New Hampshire, James Whitehill and his wife, Diana, of Goffstown, New Hampshire, Jerry Whitehill and his wife, Vicki, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Wayne Whitehill and his wife, Ann, of St. Johnsbury, and Jane Elliott and her husband, Clayton, of South Kirby; by 14 grandchildren; by two great-grandchildren; by two brothers, Reginald Whitehill of East Charleston and the Reverend Richard Whitehill and his wife, Brenda, of Holland; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 6, with the Reverend Whitehill officiating.

Rudolph J. Woods Sr.
Rudolph J. Woods Sr. 64, of Bristol, Connecticut, husband of Irene (Zappula) Woods, died suddenly Monday, April 2, 2001, at his home.
Born in Derby on November 19, 1936, a son of the late Matthewson and Irene (Bushaw) Woods, Mr. Woods lived in Bristol most of his life. He was a retired truck driver having worked for White Oak Construction for many years and more recently for Tilcon. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 559 of Milford.
Besides his wife, he leaves the following children: Charlotte Wood Avery and her friend, Gregg, and Rodney Wood and his friend, Carol, all of Adams, Massachusetts, Rudolph J. Woods Jr. of Bristol, Andy Woods and his wife, Diane, of Waterbury, Connecticut, and Veronica Liva and her husband, Tom, of Boca Raton, Florida; by the following brothers and sisters: Matt Woods and his friend, Linda, of Norton, Sylvia Ward and her husband, John, of Newport, Cecile Lucas and her husband, Leonard, of Newport, Esther Metras and her husband, Moises, of Derby, Linda Schepp of Fargo, North Dakota, and Lorraine Webber and her husband, Dwight, of East Haven; by six grandchildren: Sylvia, Elizabeth, Lauren, and Christina Woods and Concetta and Lucia Livia; and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 5, at Dupont Funeral Home in Bristol. Burial will be in Peacedale Cemetery in Bristol.

Edna Elizabeth Liberty
Edna Elizabeth Liberty, 86, of Newport, died in Newport on Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, at Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Leo Bilodeau officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Spring interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport. A full obituary will appear in next week’s issue.

Herbert A. Tice
Herbert A. Tice, 72, of Newport died suddenly June 17, 2001, in Newport. He was born on May 1, 1929, in Holland, Vermont, a son of George Ira and Ethel (Champigny) Tice.
Mr. Tice was in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on May 1, 1952. On September 18, 1982, he married Arlene M. Sears who survives him. He was a heavy truck mechanic in the Taunton, Massachusetts, area for many years. In 1986 he retired from Burkewitz Transportation in Coventry after working there six years. He held memberships with the American Legion Post 21 of Newport and also the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798 in Newport.
Among the hobbies he enjoyed were fishing, driving, and riding safety vehicles for the state of Vermont during convoys, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Tice, of Newport; by his children: George Tice and his wife, Peggy, of Delaware, Elaine Pratt of Taunton, Debbie Bratti and her husband, Rick LePage, of Newport, Henry Fillion and his wife, Kelly, of Rockland, Massachusetts, Michael Fillion and his wife, Connie-Jo of Eddington, Maine, Albert Bratti and Richard Westgate Jr., both of Newport; by his 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; by the following brothers and sisters: Robert Tice and his wife, Joan, of Derby, Doris Swett of Holland, Ruby Fecteau of Derby, Gertrude Daggett of Holland, Earl Tice and his wife, Penny, of Holland, and Dave Tice of Massachusetts; and by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Derby Line Cemetery with Rob Surprenant officiating. Should friends desire, contributions in Herbert's memory may be made to the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, Citizens Road, Newport, Vermont 05855.
