Rena Mary Daniels, 89, of Island Pond, died in Newport on Friday, June 15, 2001, with her family at her bedside.
Mrs. Daniels was born on June 12, 1912, in Newark, the daughter of Walter and Blanche (Hudson) Hosford. She was a past member of the Island Pond Home Dem group. She enjoyed crocheting and particularly her vegetable and flower gardens. From her gardens she got great pleasure in making Christmas gifts for her family such as canned foods, jams, jellies, etc. She derived much comfort and pleasure being with family members and also with her two dogs and two cats.
She married Clarence M. Daniels in 1931, who predeceased her in 1985. She is survived by her children: Cecil Daniels and his wife, Rita, of Island Pond, Walter Daniels and his wife, Diane, of Island Pond, Marguerite Morgan and her husband, Floyd, of Richmond, and Gloria Taylor of Morgan; by 13 grandchildren; by 35 great-grandchildren; and by one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her brother Frances and by her sister Elisa Jane.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 21, at Grace Brethren Church in Island Pond at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Roger Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at East Haven Cemetery.

Patricia Eveline (Boo) Durocher
Patricia Eveline (Boo) Durocher, nine, beloved daughter of Ann Durocher of West Charleston and the late Alain Durocher, died peacefully June 16, 2001, at her home with her mom at her side.
She was born on March 27, 1992, in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She is survived by her mother, Ann Lynch Durocher of West Charleston; by maternal grandparents, John and Doreen Lynch of Lincoln, New Hampshire; by paternal grandparents, Paul and Linda Durocher of Stanstead, Quebec; and by her aunts: Patricia and Jeff Sorrell of Newport; Joleen Lynch of Lincoln, New Hampshire; Jackie Durocher and Lisa Durocher both of Stanstead, Quebec; and by her uncle, Tom Lynch and his wife, Cheryl, of Bridgewater, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her father on June 5, 1997.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, New Hampshire, with the Reverend Roger Bilodeau officiating.

Ellen Dustan Grizzle
Ellen Dustan Grizzle, 85, of Craftsbury Common, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Greensboro Nursing Home after a long illness.
Mrs. Grizzle was born in Craftsbury Common, October 30, 1915, the daughter of William and Helen (Paterson) Dustan. She graduated from Craftsbury Academy in 1934.
For several years she was employed at Mary Fletcher Hospital pharmacy department before taking a course in x-ray technology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Following that she was employed at Syracuse Hospital in Syracuse, New York. She later accepted a position in x-ray technology in Wenatchee, Washington, where she met and married Walter Grizzle in 1958. They shared a deep interest in astronomy.
She returned to Craftsbury Common in 1982 from Spokane, Washington, where she had since made her home with her sister Laura Dustan. She was a member of United Church of Craftsbury, Searchlight Club, and Ladies Union, and she continued her interest in astronomy.
She is survived by three sisters: Augusta Dustan, Louisa Levine, and Laura Dustan, all of Craftsbury Common; by a nephew; and by a niece. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Grizzle, who died in 1979; and by her sister, Doctor Harriet Dustan, who died in 1999.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 19, at United Church of Craftsbury in Craftsbury Common with the Reverend Ben Thurber officiating.

Rick Gutzmann, born in 1945, died recently. There will be a gathering of friends at the Craftsbury Town Garage in Craftsbury Village on Sunday, June 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. Please bring refreshments to share.
Michael W. Maciag
Michael W. Maciag, 56, of Island Pond, died suddenly June 12, 2001, in Newport.
Mr. Maciag was born on December 12, 1944, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, a son of Michael W. Maciag Sr. and Ann Armvine. He was a sanitation worker in Island Pond community for many years. He enjoyed fixing lawnmowers, building bird houses, and most of all spending time with his cats Gremie, Tigger, and Trouble. He is survived by his sons, Donnie Kontoes and his wife, Julie, of Derby Line and Danny Kontoes and his wife, Angela, of Manchester, New Hampshire; a granddaughter, Danielle Kontoes, and by his mother, Ann Daley of New Jersey.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, with the Reverend Roger Fletcher officiating. Interment followed in Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond.
