Elmore J. Oistad

A retired high school math teacher who taught in the Seattle area for 30 years, Elmore John Oistad, 87, born April 28, 1917, in Winlock, Wash. He served with the Navy during World War II in the Pacific and graduated from the University of Washington.
An avid golfer, he served as golf coach while teaching at Ballard High School, and in retirement was a volunteer for AARP Taxaide. He also enjoyed travel, sports, and music.
His wife of 60 years, Dorothy, Cemetery in Shoreline, Wash.

David M. Rockwood
Vancouver
David M. Rockwood, 87, born April 3, 1917, in Portland. As a child, he spent summers in Clark County and moved to Vancouver permanently in 1977.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and after graduating from Oregon State University worked as a civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers. A hydrologist, he consulted worldwide on hydro power and did original research on snow hydrology .
A longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, he served as the project manager for the original church building. He also served as the concert master for the Vancouver Pops Orchestra.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marjorie, at home; two daughters, Rosalie Bean of Vashon, Wash., and Virginia Norton of Prosser, Wash.; three sons, Alan of Ketchikan, Alaska, James of Portland, and John of Hillsboro, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd. A buffet lunch will be served afterward at the church. Private burial will be at Willamette National died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Vancouver.
Mrs. Ruskin was died in 2003.
Survivors include three daughters, J. Jeannine Hooper of Beaverton, Ore., Susan Hebert of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Cissie Shackelford of Vancouver; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Aug. 15 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

Joan L. Strouhal

Joan L. Strouhal, 46, born Aug. 15, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, and had lived in Vancouver for 41 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and served as a local officer in the People First International Organization.
She participated in Special Olympics throughout her life and also attended many camps. She enjoyed riding horses, ramp bowling, and animals.
Survivors include her parents, Rudy and Mary Strouhal of Vancouver; and two brothers, Wayne of Forest Grove, Ore., and Steve of Vancouver.
A celebration of life service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Davies Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mark Ray Beadle, a lifetime Clark County resident, born April 4, 1960, in Vancouver. He enjoyed camping, barbecues, snowmobiles and working on the computer.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Schafte of Washougal; two sons, Michael Maxwell of Camas and John Maxwell of Coquille, Ore.; his parents, Kenneth and Virginia Beadle of Washougal; one sister, Karen Dolan of Washougal; three brothers, Tommy, Ronald and Billy Joe, all of Camas; and his special companion, Carrie Russell of Washougal.
Brown's Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Rae Grantham, a U.S. Postal Service worker, born Sept. 15, 1950, in Vancouver.
She enjoyed making jewelry and ceramic dolls, football and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky L. Grantham, at home; two sons, Jeffrey S. and Nicholas H., both of Vancouver; one daughter, Kimberly A. Randolph of Vancouver; parents, Jeanne and Richard Stillman of North Bonneville and Charles Lindblom of West Virginia; four brothers, Tim Stillman, Mark Stillman, Rick Stillman and Tom Stillman, all of Vancouver; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene in Ridgefield.
William E. Scott

William E. "Billy" Scott, a merchant marine during World War II, born Nov. 19, 1927, in Lebanon, Ore. He enjoyed travel.
He was preceded in died on July 28, 2004, at home. She was 80.
She was death by her husband, Ben, in 1972, and her daughter, Charlene, in 1996.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Beverly Boltz of Vancouver and Brenda Layton of Riverside, Calif.; three sisters, Lois Mackey of Leesburg, Fla., Ruby Harris of Redlands, Calif., and Grace Dunagan of Escondido, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Aug. 20 at the Olivewood died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Woodland. She was 97.
Ms. Stanley was funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodland Christian Church. Burial will follow at Hayes died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, in Vancouver. He was 50.
Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 30, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of Kappa Phi Epsilon and the rally squad at the University of Oregon.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Thomas of Portland; three sisters, Cynthia of Portland, Patricia of Portland and Shirley Mallory of Ohio; and four brothers, James, Michael and William, all of Portland, and David Byrd of New York.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 1425 N.E. Dekum, in Portland.
