James O. Holland

A civil engineer and businessman who enjoyed golf and walks in his neighborhood, James Orin Holland born Sept. 6, 1920, in Port Angeles. He earned a degree in engineering at Washington State University, where he played football and served as president of the student senate, and as commanding officer of the ROTC.
After college, he served as a major in the Army Corps of Engineers in New Guinea, Leyte Gulf, Mindanao and the Philippines. He was awarded the Silver Star for his service in action on Mindoro, Philippines, during World War II.
He was a longtime member and usher at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley, at home; two sons, Jim of Vancouver and Bob of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Pioneer died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in Vancouver.
Mr. Tabares was died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at a Battle Ground care center. He was 77.
Mr. Dick was died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Vancouver.
Mrs. Flores, whose maiden name was Benjamin, was married her husband, Frank, in 1955, and they moved to Vancouver where her husband worked for Tidewater Barge Lines. She liked to feed her family and spend time one-on-one with her children.
Her son Steve died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at a Portland care center.
Mrs. Hegstad, whose maiden name was Olson, was died in 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Janene Day of Vancouver; one son, Clifton of Troutdale, Ore.; three sisters, Mavis Stone of Flaxton, N.D., Laura Skalicky of Minot, N.D., and Elna Mollgaard of Billings, Mont.; one brother, Ralph Olson of Etna, Calif.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.
Mr. Hines was Cemetery in Covington, Wash.
Ruth S. Kiggins

Longtime Vancouver resident Ruth S. Kiggins born Dec. 30, 1912, in Morfield, Neb. She moved to Vancouver 75 years ago and belonged to First Presbyterian Church for 50 years.
She worked as a secretary at Evergreen Theaters for 25 years and as a receptionist at Biggs Insurance Agency for 12 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and the theater.
Her husband, Anthony C., Cemetery.

Betty M. Noakes

A funeral will begin at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for Betty M. Noakes, who born April 18, 1926, in Primrose, Neb., and moved to Clark County in 1961. She worked as a bus driver for the La Center School District for 23 years and was a member of the Fargher Lake Grange and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo.
A daughter, Beverly Hopkin, preceded her in Cemetery.
Rorey D. Virgin

A U.S. Navy veteran who had lived in Vancouver for 28 years, Rorey Dean Virgin born June 16, 1955, in Kirkland, Wash. He worked as a heating and cooling systems specialist for Clark College, and enjoyed archery, radio-controlled cars, potato guns, NASCAR, cars, and video games.
Survivors include his wife, Kathi, at home; four sons, Ryan and Nicholas Virgin, both of Vancouver, Justin Virgin of Marysville, Wash., and Danny Paxson of Longview; two brothers, Charles W. of Sammamish, Wash., and Stephen W. of Sultan, Wash.; his grandmother, Maxine Modlin of Port Angeles, Wash.; two grandchildren; and his special companion, Jennifer Wallace of Vancouver.
A memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Fred, at home; her mother, Delores Dyck of Milwaukie, Ore.; one son, Greg of Milwaukie; one sister, Patty Mick of Milwaukie; one brother, Bob West of Washington; and one grandson.

Survivors include his parents Ed and Carolyn Miller of Hillsboro, Ore.; two daughters, Aimee and Alycia, both at home; two sons, Travis Hyams of Aberdeen and Kenny, at home; two sisters, Susan, and Jamie Bridgeman of Tigard; five brothers, Roy, of Castle Rock, Wash., Thomas of Beaverton, Ore., Tim of Battle Ground, Nathan Huggahl of Ellensburg, Wash., and Sean of Hillsboro; one grandmother, Margaret Noster of Escondido, Calif; and one grandchild.
