There will be a private graveside service this afternoon for John Louis Smith Sr., who born June 24, 1918, in Dorena, Ore.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, at home; three daughters, Karen Montoya of Portland, Laurel Boyonovski of Chicago and Cindra Conlee of Tigard, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Nancy Brown of New Hampshire and Eileen Gill of Vancouver; three sons, Scott of Seattle, John L. of Salem, Ore., and Curtiss N. of Vancouver; two sisters, May and Esther; three brothers, Hubert, Arthur and Willie; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be private.
Vernon L. Walker Sr.
Vancouver
A Vancouver High School graduate, Vernon L. Walker Sr. Born Nov. 21, 1927, in Portland, Mr. Walker lived in Clark County 60 years.
He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, at home; two daughters, Deborah Tymer and Kathleen Ellett, both of Vancouver; two sons, Wayne of Bellingham and Vernon Jr. of Vancouver; one sister, Norma Cook of Vancouver; and 10 grandchildren.
Mr. Walker, a Navy veteran of World War II, played on the all-state basketball team in Vancouver.
He enjoyed singing and was a member of the Columbianaires, Portland Chorus and barbershop quartets. He liked to play softball and pool.
A service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, with burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens died in Camas on Saturday, May 20, 2000. He was 31.
An artist and student at Clark College, Mr. DeVroeg was died in Vancouver on Saturday, May 20, 2000. He was 87.

Bertha C. Fifield

A lifetime Camas resident, Bertha "Bertie" Charlotte Fifield, born Aug. 27, 1918, in Camas.
She was Cemetery.
Straub's Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred M. Finley
Junction City, Ore.
Former Vancouver resident, Mildred M. Finley, 86, born Sept. 14, 1913, in Liberty, Neb., and lived in Vancouver from 1941 until 1999, when she moved to Junction City.
Her husband, John, died in Vancouver on Saturday, May 20, 2000.
Mrs. Halvorson was a finalist for the 2000 Outstanding Senior Volunteer Citizen Recognition Award sponsored by the Clark County Council on Aging.
She spent many hours in service as a reading tutor in elementary schools, the Emblem Club and other civic groups and individuals.
Unfortunately she was too ill to attend the recognition program May 17.
Mrs. Halvorson was an office worker at the old Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Camas for 23 years.
Her husband, Henry J. Halvorson Jr., died in 1982.
She was died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Snohomish. He was 96.
Mr. Hopkins was death.
Survivors include his nephew, Clyde Hook of Cockrane, Alberta, Canada; and nieces, Sherry Westergaard of Monroe, Wash., and Susan Torres of Okatokos, Alberta.
A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Garden of Faith at Evergreen Memorial Gardens died at home Sunday, May 21, 2000. She was 74.
Mrs. Johnson was a bookkeeper for the family-owned grocery store, T-P Food Market, for 38 years.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, at home; two daughters, Cheryl Rash of Houston and S. Kay Clow of Vancouver; two sons, Greg and James, both of Vancouver; two sisters, Marian Beach of Eugene, Ore., and Vera Power of Burlington, Wash.; one brother, James Fuhrman of Goldendale, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson was Cemetery.
The casket will be open at the funeral home after the service.
