Nellie M. Agard
Battle Ground
Nellie M. "Billie" Agard, maiden name Johnson, born June 1, 1920, in Weiser, Idaho. She lived in the Battle Ground-Clark County area for 55 years and owned and operated a dairy farm for 25 years.
Mrs. Agard was also a manager of Ag-Co Hardware in Battle Ground and a welder at the former Kaiser Shipyard in Vancouver during World War II. She enjoyed viewing wildlife, painting, drawing, making afghans and canning food for family and friends. Gardening was her passion, and she volunteered as a master gardener.
She was preceded in died Friday, July 28, 2000, in Medford, Ore., from complications of a long-term illness. He was 78.
Mr. Campbell was death by his wife, Dorothy Campbell, in 1998.
He is survived by one son, Randy Campbell, four stepchildren, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will start at 10 a.m. today at Hawthorne Veterans Memorial in Grants Pass.

Francis C. Gillette

Francis Curtis Gillette was still-Cemetery in Brush Prairie. The casket will be open for viewing at the graveside at 10 a.m. Layne's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Walter D. Harding

A retired general contractor who enjoyed gambling, gold panning and golf, Walter D. Harding born Aug. 14, 1926 in Portland, Ore., and was raised and educated in Battle Ground. He worked in the construction industry for 40 years, retiring in 1988. Mr. Harding also served in the Navy during World War II. He loved spending winters in Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in died Saturday, July 29, 2000, from lung disease at home in Vancouver. He was 74.
Mr. Hayden was Cemetery. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mariette Suzanne LaJoie-Brown

A homemaker who enjoyed hiking, cycling and mountain climbing, Mariette Suzanne LaJoie-Brown born April 13, 1928 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. She moved to the Vancouver-Portland area in 1949, lived in Seattle, Wash., from 1962 to 1966, and was a Vancouver resident the past 15 years.
She was a member of the Mazamas mountain climbing club and an active parent in Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls and Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her husband, George Thomas; two daughters, Suzanne Marx and Louise Brown; four sons, George Lee, Julian, Lawrence and Henri Brown; one brother, Jacques LaJoie; one sister, Therese Dickson; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. today at St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, Ore. Graveside services will follow at St. Paul Catholic died Monday, July 31, 2000, at home in Washougal. He was 69.

A Vancouver resident since 1942, Marie M. Maxwell born July 25, 1916, in Bath, S.D. She was a beautician who enjoyed traveling, rock hounding, dancing and crafts. She was also a member of Vancouver First Christian Church.
She was preceded in Cemetery.

Robert W. Nesburg

A Vancouver resident since 1970, Robert W. Nesburg born Sept. 13, 1933 in Granite Falls, Minn. He was an owner and manager of NAPA stores since 1955 and retired in 1995.
He was a member of Royal Oaks Country Club, a charter member of the Elks in Fergus Falls, Minn., and Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golf, sailing, traveling, working, spending time in Maui, Hawaii, and camping. Mr. Nesburg was also in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Ann P. Nesburg, of Vancouver; one daughter, Kellie Carion of Silverdale, Wash; two sons, Michael Nesburg of Vancouver and Steven Nesburg of Dickinson, Texas; a brother, Curtis Nesburg of Windsor, Colo.; a sister, Joan Madsen of Granite Falls, Minn.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will start at 3 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Disposition will be by cremation.

Francis D. Perry

A 30-year resident of Clark County, Francis D. Perry born April 19, 1931, in Hewittville, N.Y. He was a retired nurse for the Veterans Administration who enjoyed fishing and collecting coins, stamps and baseball cards. His family remembers him as a great father.
He was preceded in died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Vancouver. She was 87.
She was death by her husband of 40 years, Albert C. Russell, in 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Leta Schattauer-Powell of Seattle, Wash., and one sister, Carolyn Mickelsen of Lake Oswego, Ore.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. at Mill Plain United Methodist Church. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
