A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and longtime Eucharistic minister, Sara Elizabeth Osterhaus born April 24, 1942, in Seattle and moved to Vancouver in 1944. Her maiden name was Meade.
She graduated from Providence Academy, Clark College and Seattle University. She worked as a mail clerk for Columbia Health Services and was involved with church and school activities, including assisting special education students. She enjoyed gardening, canning and family dinners.

Helen M. Taylor

A retired grocery clerk who lived in Clark County for 51 years, Helen Marie Taylor born Dec. 4, 1915, in Humboldt, Neb. Her maiden name was Glather.
She was a member of the Retail Clerks International Local 1092, Gateway Elks Lodge 2411 Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1325, all in Portland. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and working in her yard.
Survivors include her daughter Judy McClelland of Vancouver; son Richard Epps of Portland; brother Lou Glather of Dawson, Neb.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no public service. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marjie J. Trainor

An active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its choir, Marjie J. Todd Trainor born Aug. 3, 1927, in Eagle Butte, S.D. Her maiden name was Heinz.
She worked as a payroll administrator for the General Brewing Co. for almost 30 years and was a founding member of the Sausage Festival Booster Club.
She was preceded in died in 1971, and husband Norman Trainor, who Cemetery. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edith L. Powers

A retired payroll specialist and former hostess at Red Lobster Restaurant, Edith Linn-Anni Powers born April 9, 1930, in Creglingen, Germany. Her maiden name was Nehf. A devoted Christian, she was a member of the German Club and a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital. She enjoyed birds, gardening and feeding stray neighborhood cats, and was known for her cooking.
Survivors include one son, Eric; and two brothers, Kurt Nehf and Hermann Baier. A service for friends and family will be held today in the back yard of her home.
Stephen Evans
Vancouver
A retired quality-control engineer who enjoyed reading and animals, Stephen "Steve" Evans born May 27, 1924, in New York and had lived in Vancouver for 11 years. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Evans served with the Marines on Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands. At one time he co-hosted a radio show with his twin brother Jeff in Corvallis, Ore.
Survivors include one sister, Gloria Claybin of Vancouver; one brother, Jeff, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one niece, Barbara Klabin-Smith; and one nephew, Ed Claybin.
The will be no service. Burial will be at Willamette National died of breast cancer Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at her home in Vancouver. She was 61.

Geraldine R. Craine

A full-time mother and homemaker who had lived in Vancouver for 50 years, Geraldine R. Craine born Oct. 9, 1910, in Enid, Oklahoma. Her maiden name was Davis.
She was a longtime member of the Order of Amaranth and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vancouver.

Donovan C. Jahnke

A life member of Vancouver Elks Lodge 823 who retired as a foreman from the Del Monte Corporation, Donovan C. "Don" Jahnke born April 4, 1922, in Red Lake Falls, Minn., and he had lived in Vancouver for 49 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, water skiing, bird watching and reading.
Survivors include his wife Elaine at home; two daughters, Barbara Murray and Nancy Howard both of Vancouver; one sister, Shirley Jahnke of Vancouver; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lee A. Craig Jr.
North Bonneville
A doctor who was active in the community, Dr. Lee Austin Craig Jr. born June 21, 1925, in Dixon, Ill. He was raised Springfield, Mo. He had been living in North Bonneville for the last several years.
During his life he had a private practice in Portland as a family practitioner, including obstetrics. He also served on the staffs of Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, St. Vincent Medical Center, Good Samaritan-Wilcox Memorial Hospital, Providence Hospital and Woodland Park Hospital in Portland.
He eventually sold his private practice and went to work with the U.S. Public Health Service, where he established the West Salem Clinic, a medical clinic for the low-income population in Salem, Ore.
Dr. Craig also went on to work with the Native American communities of Wisconsin, Idaho and Nebraska. Through his commissioned service over the years with the health service he obtained the rank of colonel.
He was active in Stevenson United Methodist Church and the senior center.
Dr. Craig was preceded in died of heart failure Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in Vancouver. He was 70.

Kasia A. Kuzmovich

Kasia Anika Kuzmovich born April 8, 2000, in Portland. She lived in Vancouver with her parents.
Survivors include her parents, Mark and Diane Kuzmovich of Vancouver; four sisters, Elizabeth, Mary, Brandi and Alexandra Kuzmovich of Vancouver; two brothers, Kenny and Joseph Kuzmovich of Vancouver; her grandparents, Victor and Audrey Kuzmovich of Naugatuck, Conn.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rosary was Tuesday. A private Divine Liturgy will begin at 10 a.m. today at St. Irene Byzantine Catholic Church in Portland. Burial will be at Saint Johns Cemetery in Vancouver. Mount Scott Funeral Home in Portland, is in charge of arrangements.
