Loranza Lawhorn

A farmer and carpenter who lived in Vancouver for 31 years, Loranza Lawhorn, 85, born April 21, 1915, in Portageville, Mo. He moved to Vancouver in 1969 and enjoyed woodworking, puzzles and playing checkers.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mabel, at home; one son, William C. "Bill" of Fairview, Ore.; one daughter, Loretta A. Unrein of Battle Ground; one brother, Herschel Lawhorn of St. Charles, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens died Monday, March 26, 2001, in a Vancouver care center.
Mr. Trent was Cemetery in Portland. Davies Burial and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Alida H. Van der Bent

A homemaker and member of the East Vancouver United Methodist Church, Alida H. "Riek" Van der Bent born Dec. 17, 1916, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her maiden name was Jansen, and she had lived in Clark County for 44 years.
A member of the Women's Circle at her church, she enjoyed tulips and daffodils and had many pen pals around the world. She also enjoyed knitting, giving to charities and her dog.
She was preceded in Cemetery.

Joan D. Freeman

A homemaker who enjoyed her family, Joan D. Freeman born Jan. 3, 1931, in Stoughton, Wis., and lived in Portland for 10 years before moving to Vancouver 12 years ago.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, at home; two daughters, Elizabeth Cheney of Portland and Mary Croyle of Olympia; one brother, Arnold Mortenson of Altadena, Calif.; one sister, Shirley Jacques of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Pauline M. Boykin
Vancouver
A Vancouver-area resident for the past 54 years, Pauline M. Boykin died in 1990.
A funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens born April 27, 1918, in Tuttle, Okla. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Bernie Wolfe of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters, Rose Studeman of Spokane and Judy Kimball and Loretta Horn, both of Oklahoma City; and five granddaughters.
Mrs. Boykin enjoyed arts, crafts, drawing and sewing.

Clare J. Haight
Portland
Clare June Haight born Oct. 17, 1923, in Newberg, Ore. Her maiden name was Dimond.
She was raised in Newberg and attended Willamette University in Salem from 1941 to 1944. After college she lived in Vancouver and Portland.
Mrs. Haight earned a bachelor's degree from Portland State University in 1985. She worked for the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon headquarters and retired as a certified public accountant for the Moss Adams Co.
Her husband, Tinkham, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in Scappoose. He was 84.
His wife, Reta, born June 15, 1916, in Valley Junction, Iowa. He lived in Vancouver until moving to Scappoose in 1968.
Survivors include one daughter, Lois Frahm of Vancouver; two sons, Frank of Vancouver and Fred of Beaverton; one sister, Zita Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Lorraine Cushing of Scappoose.
Mr. Hilgers worked for Multnomah Plywood before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Moose and Masonic lodges, both in St. Helens, Ore., and the Scappoose Senior Center.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens died of cancer Saturday, March 31, 2001, at home. She was 46.
The casket will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. McVicker was died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in a Portland hospital. She was 67.
Mrs. Rodgers, a certified nursing assistant, retired from private nursing care in 1992. She was a volunteer at Southwest Washington Medical Center in 1992 and 1993.
She was died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Vancouver. He was 93.
Mr. Smith was a retired train car repairman for the Union Pacific Railway.
He was died of a heart attack March 27, 2001, in Yakima. He was 73.
His son, Terry, born June 1, 1927, in Keeline, Wyo. He lived in Vancouver for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Verla, at home; three daughters, Linda Raber and Debbie McLoud, both of Salem, Ore., and Vicki Tucker of Vancouver; two sisters, Verna Rokne and Myrtle Lambert, both of Springfield, Ore.; three brothers, Bert of Fairview, Ore., Wayne of Canby, Ore., and Larry of Grand Coulee, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tucker was a naturalist and liked gardening.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oaks Pioneer Church in Portland, followed by burial at 2:30 p.m. in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
