Noel E. Hair

Noel E. Hair, who retired in 1976 from the Washington State Patrol, born July 6, 1917, in Brown Spring, Mo., and lived in Long Beach for the past 26 years. He lived in Vancouver in the 1940s.
Survivors include his wife, Clarene, at home; two daughters, Noelene Thompson of Portland and Susan A. Gensmann of Kalispell, Mont.; one son, Mike Hair of Vancouver; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hair enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and baseball. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Long Beach and the Masonic Lodge in Shelton.
A private graveside service will be at Northwood Park died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, in Vancouver. He was 88.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn, at home; two daughters, Barbara Moll of Vancouver and Sandra McDonald of Auburn; one sister, Lois Brooks of Vancouver; three brothers, L.C. of Richmond, Calif., W.B. of Panhuska, Okla., and Loyd of Vancouver; and three grandchildren.
He was died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at home. He was 71.
Mr. Ransom was died Aug. 23, 2001, in Scappoose, Ore. He was 49.
He was died of cancer Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Ridgefield. He was 66.
Mr. Henson was a member of Glenwood Community Church and the Longshoremen's Union, Local 4, of Vancouver. An Army veteran, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and skiing.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground. A graveside service will be later.
Mr. Meehan was died of Huntington's chorea Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, in Vancouver. He was 47.
He was a marketing representative for Conrail's trucking division.
Mr. Plate was died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at home. She was 98.
Mrs. Thobois was died in 1973, a daughter, Marky Jones, died in 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Polly Trusley of Yacolt and Sandra Emery of Vancouver; one son, Dan of Naches, Wash.; two sisters, Kathryn Ross of Yacolt and Elenore Baldwin of Vancouver; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel, with burial in Memory Memorial Park.

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel for Toby Ray DeKorte, 36, who born Jan. 29, 1965, in Santa Ana, Calif. He graduated from Hudson's Bay High School in 1983 and attended Clark College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in computer science.
He completed a four-year apprenticeship to become a journeyman machinist and was employed by Blount Industries in Milwaukie, Ore., to make chain-saw parts.
He was a private a pilot and loved flying out of Pearson Airpark and Evergreen Field.
Survivors include one son, Kody of Vancouver; his father and and stepmother, Richard "Dick" and Karen DeKorte of Vancouver; two stepsisters, Treva Karkanen and Tracy Selby, both of Vancouver; two brothers, Todd of Vancouver and Kelly of Renton; and one stepbrother, Eric Kirsher of Oahu, Hawaii.

A funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Gloria Ann Lerma, who born Feb. 18, 1942, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and lived in Vancouver for 20 years. She was employed by the Northwest Regional Education Laboratory in Portland, where she served as personnel manager for the past 18 years.
A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she enjoyed gambling, cooking, baking, garage sales, traveling and entertaining in her home.
Her husband, Joseph, Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Peggy L. Quibell

A retired restaurant manager who moved to Vancouver in 1991, Peggy L. Quibell born March 26, 1926, in Winston-Salem, N.C. She enjoyed doing the jumble puzzles in the newspaper and was an outgoing person with a genuine love for people.
She was preceded in died in 1984, and a stepdaughter, Bettie Mae Clark.
Survivors include one son, Ken of Hawaii; one stepson, Barton of Springhill, Fla.; two daughters, Debbie Slayman of Vancouver and Peggy Medieros of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Hubert Crater of Tryon, N.C.; one sister, Barbara Overby of Clemmons, N.C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
