Carol L. Robinson

Carol L. Robinson, who retired from the Multnomah County Human Resources Department in 1987, born Jan. 5, 1925, in Montevideo, Minn., and lived in Clark County for 32 years. Her maiden name was Knutson.
Her son, Jerry Hale, died at home Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001. He was 46.
Mr. Rogers was born June 21, 1955, in Vancouver and lived all his life in Clark County.
He worked in landscaping.
Mr. Toivonen enjoyed music and liked to play the guitar.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard of Vancouver and Gary of Long Beach, Wash.
There will be no service.
Memorial contributions may be mailed to his brother Richard Toivonen at 10804 N.E. Highway 99, No. 26, Vancouver, WA 98686, to help with burial expenses.
Lyle French
Vancouver
Lyle "Frenchy" French born July 22, 1927, in Tacoma and lived most of his life in Clark County.
Survivors include his wife, Maxcine, at home; one daughter, Marybeth Archer of Vancouver; three sons, Del of Battle Ground, Dane of Vancouver and Denis of Anchorage, Alaska; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He worked for 50 years with the Cement Mason Union, Local 555.
Mr. French was a veteran of World War II, serving with the merchant marine. He was also a 50-year member of Silver Star Masonic Lodge 286 in Battle Ground and a member of the American Legion.
A celebration of his life will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Clark County Saddle Club, 10505 N.E. 117th Ave.

Phillip J. Rogers Sr.

Phillip James Rogers Sr., a veteran of the Marine Corps, born April 19, 1955, in Vancouver.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Rogers of Washougal; four sons, Chris Schaeffer of Vancouver, Phillip Rogers Jr. and John P. Rogers, both of Washougal, and Joseph Martinez of Arizona; three sisters, Cheryl Lenz of Washougal, Patti McDonald of Missoula, Mont., and Julie Schrom of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one brother, James W. Rogers II of Toutle; nine grandchildren; and his special companion, Lupita M. Kitchen, at home.
A memorial service will begin at noon Saturday at Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel.

Norma Alba Dickey born Jan. 15, 1924, in Tacoma and was a 25-year resident of Clark County.
Her maiden name was Bini.
Survivors include a daughter Susan Matz, Gresham, Ore.; a son, David Peters of Forest Grove, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Her husband, John, Cemetery in Hood River, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to Lions Club Eye Bank or American Heart Association.
Ella Mercer
Battle Ground
Ella "Jean" Mercer born May 7, 1934, in Evansville, Ind. A homemaker, she was a 13-year resident of Clark County. Her maiden name was Hales.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F.; three daughters, Beverly Raffaele of Vancouver, Diana Morton and Zenetta Yost, both of Brookings, Ore.; five sons, Thomas Gee of Portland, Robert Geeof Wilsonville, Ore., Donald Gee of Vancouver and Rudy Mercer and Patrick Mercer, both of Battle Ground; two sisters, Charlotte Keck and Barbara Hales of Evansville; one brother Hardin "Bud" Hales, both of Evansville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mercer was a poet, singer and cook and loved her computer and flowers. She put lace on lots of things. She loved her dog, Annie.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground. Inurnment will be at Willamette National died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, in a Vancouver care center. She was 95.

Catherine E. Johnson

Catherine E. Fellner Johnson, 96, born March 20, 1905, in Portland and was a homemaker on a farm in La Center.
She loved gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was death.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Buckbee of Portland; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A service will begin at noon Monday at Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes at Northeast Halsey Street and 106th Avenue, Portland. Burial will follow in Highland died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in Vancouver. She was 74.
