Zola C. McClure

A funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church for Zola Clair McClure, who died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 81.
Mrs. McClure was born June 25, 1920, in Missouri and lived in Clark County for 50 years. Her maiden name was Boyd.
Her husband, Arthur "Oz, " died in 1974, and a son, Greg, died in 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Marcia McClure Limoges of Vancouver; two sons, Scott T. and Brian K., both of Vancouver; four brothers, Alden Boyd of Eugene, Ore., Robert Boyd of Creswell, Ore., York Boyd of Cheshire, Ore., and Herbert Boyd of Albany, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. McClure, who served as an Army first lieutenant and dietician during World War II, attended Oregon State University and the University of Oregon. She enjoyed gardening, camping, watercolor painting and traveling.
Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Irving E. Ott

Irving E. Ott died of Parkinson's disease Friday, April 26, 2002, in a Vancouver care center. He was 89.
Mr. Ott was born Dec. 24, 1912, in Portland and lived there until he moved to Vancouver in November 2001.
He was a member of the Portland Yacht Club since 1934, and he loved his 52-foot yacht, Ott's Yott, which he chartered for 35 years to sport fishermen. He was a charter member of Central Eastside Lions Club and a member of Portland Parkrose Club, with more than 50 years of perfect attendance.
Mr. Ott, a Coast Guard veteran, owned Ott's Radio and Appliance store in Portland.
His wife, Helen, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma, at home; one daughter, Darlene Buys of Portland; one son, David of Portland; one stepdaughter, Lois A. Davisson of Battle Ground; one stepson, Timothy Blackburn of Battle Ground; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Holman's Funeral Service in Portland.

Billie R. Pederson

A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel Evangelical Methodist Church in Ridgefield for Billie Ruth Pederson, who died Monday, April 29, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 56.
Mrs. Pederson, a homemaker, lived in Clark County for the past 18 years. She was born Sept. 24, 1945, in Billings, Mont. Her maiden name was Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph, at home; three daughters, Christy Lambdin of Roseville, Calif., Melissa S. Pederson of Ridgefield and Joey Gillis of Woodland; two sisters, Terri Teel of Vancouver and Becky Harrison of Billings; three brothers, Randy Smith of Utah, Mike Smith of Billings and Tony Smith of Kelso; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Pederson loved e-mail, horses, fishing, and playing the slot machines in Reno.

Martha H. Quick

Martha H. Quick, who enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 92.
Mrs. Quick was a member of Peach Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Lawrence, died in 1992.
A homemaker, she was born Jan. 22, 1910, in Saginaw, Mich., and lived in the Vancouver area since 1933. Her maiden name was Wenzel.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth E. of Vancouver; and one sister, Eda Behnke of Saginaw.
A service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Nancy L. Karvonen

Nancy L. Karvonen, a senior analyst for AT&T; for 30 years, died Monday, April 29, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 57.
Mrs. Karvonen was born May 30, 1944, in Longview. Her maiden name was Kodad.
Survivors include her parents, Betty and Dale Kodad of Castle Rock; and one sister, Virginia Johnson of Castle Rock.
Mrs. Karvonen attended Washington State University. She loved the outdoors and her pets.
Her body will be cremated. A service will be later.

Jimmy K. Kirk

A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Skyline Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Portland for former Vancouver resident Jimmy Kelsey Kirk, who died Monday, April 29, 2002, in a Portland hospital. He was 45.
Mr. Kirk was a federal police officer with Federal Protective Services, General Services Administration.
He was born July 17, 1956, in Toppenish and lived in Clark County from 1964 until 1983 when he moved to Portland.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha I., at home; his father, Joe K. of Vancouver; one daughter, Kaitlyn R. Kirk of Beaverton, Ore.; one son, Christopher D. of Beaverton; three sisters, Linda Younger, Jolene Kirk and Brenda Shirley, all of Vancouver; and one brother, Dan of Vancouver.
Mr. Kirk, an Air Force veteran, was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police and a certified Red Cross trainer. He worked with Cub Scouts and was an assistant coach with the Wolf Creek Little League.
The casket will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home in Vancouver.

Charles Peterson

Former Woodland resident Charles "Pete" Peterson died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Kelso. He was 38.
Mr. Peterson, a journeyman carpenter, enjoyed cars, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Bread of Life Four Square Church in Woodland.
He was born April 27, 1964, in Aberdeen. Mr. Peterson lived in Woodland for a year before moving to Kelso two months ago.
Survivors include his wife, Tami, at home; his mother, Gloria J. Gandesbury of Pasco; his stepmother, Donna M. Peterson of Washougal; three sons, Cameron Peterson, Kody Mathis and James Peterson, all of Kelso; four brothers, Rodney Peterson and Robert Buchanan, both of Washougal, Jake Sherman of Lacey and Eddie Prescott of Yakima; and one sister, Debra Timms of Tumwater.

A Vancouver resident for 54 years, Donna J. Ellertson, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Southwest Washington Medical Center. She was 72.
Mrs. Ellertson, a homemaker, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clark County Altrusa Club and Vancouver Christian Women's Club. She enjoyed traveling, tennis and skiing.
Mrs. Ellertson was born June 25, 1929, in Lincoln, Neb.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, at home; three daughters, Kathryn McPike of Indianapolis, Ind., Gretchen Brown of Milton-Freewater, Ore., and Jan Ellertson of Sherwood, Ore.; one son, Mark of Vancouver; one sister, Marilyn Lasater of Bella Vista, Ark.; one brother, Curt Loewen of Jakarta, Indonesia; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ralph W. Fishel

Ralph W. Fishel died April 27, 2002, in an adult foster home in Vancouver where he lived nearly two years. He was 92.
Mr. Fishel was born Jan. 25, 1910, in Olympia.
He was a logger for 46 years before retiring in 1965.
Mr. Fishel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Lamb of God in Kelso.
His wife, Emma, died in 1961, and his wife, Mary, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mae, at home; one daughter, Arlyne of Olympia; two sons, Glen of Burlingtron, Wash., Earnest F. of Neilton, Wash.; stepsons, Timothy Blair of Seattle and Edward Blair of Vancouver; brother, Edward of Neilton; three sisters, Esther Havens and June Watters, both of Hoquiam, Wash., and Dorcas Trafton of Toledo, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Rotary Log Pavillion in Aberdeen, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Hoquiam. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald L. Sheldon, who was raised in Ridgefield, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Vancouver. He was 60.
Mr. Sheldon worked for a box company in Vancouver.
He was born Nov. 26, 1941, in Woodland.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma Sheldon of Battle Ground; eight sisters, Kathleen Koethe, Elizabeth Currie and Juanita Castner, all of Ridgefield, Delpha Schmidt, Linda Wallway and Thelma Curry, all of Vancouver, Susan Davis of La Center, and Virginia Camarota of Battle Ground; two brothers, Jim of Vancouver and David of La Center.
Mr. Sheldon enjoyed making jewelry and collecting Hot Wheels.
There will be a private service. Davies Cremation and Burial Services is in charge of arrangements.
