James R. Dickinson

Former Clark County resident James Richard Dickinson died Aug. 20, 2002, in Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. He was 80.
Mr. Dickinson was born May 26, 1922, in Galesburg, Ill. He moved to Vancouver when he was a toddler and later attended Providence Academy.
He worked for Boeing Co. in Seattle, and when World War II broke out he joined the Coast Guard. He liked golfing, oil painting and playing guitar.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Abel of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Sally Beutz of Renton.
The casket will be open from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Lewis Funeral Home in Bremerton. A service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Washington Veteran's Home in Retsil.
Mary A. Glascoe
Vancouver
Mary Alice Glascoe died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 85.
Mrs. Glascoe was born June 29, 1917, in The Dalles, Ore. She moved to Vancouver after her husband, Horace, died in January 2000.
She owned a craft shop, The Yarn Tree, in Bingen.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary H. Borigo of Winston, Ore.; two sons, Thomas E. of Boring, Ore., and Gayland L. Glascoe; four brothers, John Wood, Joe Wood and Bob Wood, all of White Salmon, and Paul Wood of Kingman, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
There will be a private service, and burial will be in White Salmon Cemetery in White Salmon. Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon is in charge of arrangements.
James E. Goggin

Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for James E. Goggin, who died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in Clackamas. He was 86.
Mr. Goggin was a postal clerk. He retired in 1977.
He was born April 17, 1916, in DeGraff, Minn.
His daughter, Diane G. Goggin, died in 1950.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Gaylor of Seattle; three sons, David of Vancouver, Randy of Brush Prairie and James B. of Yorba Linda, Calif.; three sisters, Agnes Lunde of Vancouver and Margaret "Peggy" Schaff of Minnesota and LaVina Lang of Nebraska; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Goggin was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and received an Air Medal. He enjoyed gardening.
A funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Private inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jean M. Johnson

Jean Marie Johnson, a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and knitting, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in Camas. She was 75.
Born Feb. 24, 1927, in Greeley, Colo., Mrs. Johnson had lived in Clark County since 1983. Her maiden name was Tyson.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy J. Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Robb E. of Camas; and one brother, Floyd Tyson Jr. of Eaton, Colo.
A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Her body will be cremated.

Elsie G. Mills

A lifetime Clark County resident, Elsie G. Mills, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 89.
Her husband of 70 years, Sylvester, died in 2000, and a son, Carvel, died in 1990.
Mrs. Mills was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 182, and was a mother advisor for Ridgefield Rainbow Girls in the 1960s. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and playing cribbage. Mrs. Mills loved attending her grandchildren's activities.
She was born Dec. 17, 1912, in La Center. Her maiden name was Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Snead of Ridgefield and Connie Mills of Tacoma; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Community of Christ Church in Ridgefield, followed by a graveside service at Ridgefield Cemetery. Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground is in charge of arrangements.

Rose E. Pachl

Rose E. Pachl, who enjoyed gardening, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in a Portland hospital. She was 84.
Mrs. Pachl was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She had a large collection of wind chimes.
Her husband, Clement, died in 1973, and a son, Lawrence, died in 1967.
She was born June 3, 1918, in New England, N.D., and lived in Vancouver the past 62 years. Her maiden name was Ehlis.
Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn A. Taylor of Vancouver; three sons, Larry V. and John, both of Vancouver, and Clement Jr. of Hockinson; one sister, Mary Stampson of North Dakota; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in St. James Acres. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Cora L. Pederson

A service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for Cora L. Pederson, who died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 85.
Mrs. Pederson lived in Clark County the past 60 years. She was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Roseau County, Minn. Her maiden name was Kolberg.
Her husband of 58 years, Melbin C., died in 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Marlys Gagliardi of Vancouver; three sons, Dale, James and Rodney, all of Vancouver; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Pederson enjoyed playing cards, dancing and liked to sing.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Katherina E. Pruter

Katherina E. Pruter, who was active at the Luepke Senior Center, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 92.
Mrs. Pruter, a homemaker, enjoyed dancing, crocheting, knitting, fishing, gardening and bowling. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was married to Emery "Bill, " for 53 years before he died in 1998.
Mrs. Pruter was born June 19, 1910, in Glen Ullin, N.D., and had lived in the Clark County area since 1934. Her maiden name was Mosbrucker.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna M. Green and Lois Frahm, both of Vancouver; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery for Erliss Mary Showalter, who died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in a care center. She was 88.
Her husband, Gerald S., died in 1980, and a son, Gerald W., died in 1991.
Mrs. Showalter was born April 15, 1914, in Bozeman, Mont., and lived in Vancouver the past 28 years. Her maiden name was Callantine.
Survivors include one son, Marvin of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of MacArthur Boulevard Christian Church.

Diane G. Borja

Diane Gogo Borja, who was a student at Clark College, died Aug. 22, 2002, at Oregon Health & Sciences University Hospital in Portland. She was 39.
Miss Borja was born June 20, 1963, in Tamuning, Guam. She lived in Vancouver for the past three years.
Miss Borja was a Catholic and loved music. She was studying accounting at Clark College.
Survivors include her mother, Maria G. Borja of Guam; one sister, Melanie Quintanilla of Vancouver; and four brothers, John, Gerald and Alan, all of Guam, and Frank of Manila, Philippines.
Recitation of the rosary and Mass of Christian burial will be in Guam. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
