She was died in 1961.
Mrs. McCarthy worked for the Builtwell Co. in Portland and as a dietician at the Milwaukie Hospital. She retired in 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Benson and Nancy L. Vergori; two sons, Michael and Tim; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Sylvia L. Modrall

A funeral will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for Sylvia Lucille Modrall, who born Aug. 24, 1911, in Bethany, Mo., and had lived in Clark County since 1944. Her maiden name was Baker.
She was a floor manager for Del Monte Cannery for 30 years.
Her husband of 50 years, Ralph, died in 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Hammerstaedt of Vancouver, Helen Loughry of Woodland and Linda Ellis of San Jacinto, Calif.; three sons, Lynn and Don, both of Vancouver, and Gail of Battle Ground; two brothers, Frank Baker of San Jacinto and Tom Baker of Sun City, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Modrall was a member of First Christian Church. She worked in the shipyards during World War II.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens died near his home in Mexico on Friday, Sept. 6, 2002. He was 52.

Charles L. Tallmon Sr.
Ridgefield
There will be a private service for Charles "Chuck" L. Tallmon Sr., who born July 10, 1920, in Portland and lived in Clark County nearly all his life.
He was a maintenance engineer and construction supervisor in commercial construction.
Mr. Tallmon was a volunteer with the Ridgefield Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed fishing, clam digging and the beach.
He was a Ridgefield girls softball coach.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Delcia, at home; two daughters, Terri McDowell of Vancouver and Toni Mortensen of Ridgefield; one son, Charles L. Jr. of Vancouver; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground is in charge of arrangements.
Joseph M. Tooley
Vancouver
Joseph M. Tooley born Sept. 8, 1915, on Sauvie Island, Ore. He had lived in Vancouver since 1941.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Evelyn, at home; one daughter, Gloria Gipson of Olympia; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Tooley, an Army veteran of World War II, was a mechanic.
He liked improving and updating the 40-foot windmill he built at his home.
A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lacey, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Robby R. Chmelik

A Vancouver resident the past 75 years, Robby Ruth Chmelik born Sept. 27, 1912, in Little Rock, Ark. Her maiden name was Wright. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, watching wildlife out her window and reminiscing about old comedians.
She was preceded in died July 22.

James A. DiGregorio

A retired business owner, James A. DiGregorio, born Nov. 19, 1915, in Portland.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Bobbie, at home; and two daughters, Karen Rankin and Marcia Langhorst, both of Portland.
A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private.

Carol P. Hartman

Carol P. Hartman, a retired Vancouver School District elementary music teacher, born April 4, 1922, in Shawano, Wis., and lived in Clark County more than 50 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Hartman of Federal Way, Wash.
Mrs. Hartman was a member of many music organizations and First United Methodist Church, Washington Education Association, Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed traveling, music and being a volunteer.
A service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at First United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel for Barbara Ann Kipp, who born June 3, 1947, in Santa Barbara, Calif. She had lived in Vancouver since 1987.
Survivors include her husband of five years, John Kipp of Vancouver; two daughters, Robin Greathouse of Yuba City, Calif., and Tina Mann of Baker, Mont.; a son, Andrew Morris of Vancouver; and nine grandchildren.

Vida M. Warner, a Vancouver resident since 1940, born July 11, 1914, in Independence, Okla. Her maiden name was Leon.
Her husband, Ralph J., died in January 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy McChesney and Lois Tomlinson, both of Vancouver; two sons, Larry and Gary, both of Vancouver; two brothers, Randall Leon of Salem, Ore., and Ray Leon of Brookings, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Warner worked for the Clark County Extension Office from 1957 to 1976.
She was a member of First Church of God and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, knitting and traveling.
A service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. The casket will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
