Douglas C. Babbitt

Douglas Clifford Babbitt, a machine operator for West Mark Industries, born March 10, 1956, in Yakima. He lived in the Clark County area more than 20 years.
Survivors include his mother, Lorraine Babbitt of Vancouver; his father, Clifford Babbitt of Mill City, Ore.; two sons, Jason and Justin, both of Lyons, Ore.; and three sisters, Patricia Harris of Ridgefield, and Tyrell Babbitt and Rebecca Babbitt, both of Vancouver.
A graveside service will be held later. His body was cremated. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Tommy R. Nuzum

Tommy R. Nuzum, a Vancouver resident for 26 years, born March 13, 1942, in Tulia, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Hiroko, at home; his mother and stepfather, Kathryn and Bill Pryor of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Kristina "Tina" Nuzum of Vancouver; one son, Tommy Jr. of Vancouver; one sister, Pat Wienstroer of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Nuzum liked his dog, P.J., and taking trips to Las Vegas and Reno, Nev.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
Private burial will be in Vancouver Barracks Post died of a heart attack Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, while on vacation in Montana.

Charles Emery Clark, a retired general contractor who owned and bred Thoroughbred horses, born Jan. 16, 1918, in Elk Point, S.D., and lived in Clark County for 30 years before moving to Phelan 12 years ago.

Maurice C. Eiden, a retired corrections officer who worked for Multnomah County for 20 years, born June 4, 1923, in Gully, Minn., and had lived in Vancouver for 15 years. He served in the Air Force during World War II and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Emmy L. Feris

Emmy Lou Feris, a certified nurses assistant who moved to Vancouver four months ago, born June 1, 1943, in Dover, Del. She enjoyed puzzles, collecting teddy bears and visiting with friends. She was a member and greeter at Northwest Community Fellowship in Vancouver.
She was preceded in Cemetery.

Phyllis Garrison
Vancouver
Phyllis Garrison, a seamstress and avid reader who enjoyed visiting with friends, born Sept. 30, 1934, in Bellingham, Wash., and had lived in Vancouver for two years. She retired from Qwest Communications in 1990, where she had worked as a manager.
Her husband, Kenneth, died Aug. 1, 2002, in Vancouver. Mr. Piontek and his wife, Mildred, had served as volunteers at the museum since it opened in 1995.
Dwayne L. Sprecher
Vancouver
Dwayne Leon Sprecher, a 1968 graduate of Evergreen High School who had lived in Clark County all his life, born April 8, 1950, in Vancouver. He was employed as a union painter by Schiller and Vorman in Portland and loved sports, especially softball and auto racing. He coached a woman's softball team for several years, which is how he met his wife, and took them to the national playoffs.
An active member of New Beginnings Christian Center in Portland he worked as a teacher and camp counselor for the Kids Zone Children's Ministries.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Dawn, at home; one daughter, Desirae, at home; his mother and step-father Joyce and Kenneth R. Bonge of Battle Ground; two sisters, Donna Albus of Astoria, Ore., and Diane Schick of Louisville, Colo.; two brothers, Dennis and Douglas, both of Battle Ground; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at New Beginnings Christian Center, 7600 N.E. Glisan, Portland.
