A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel for Gilbert Johnston, who born April 19, 1943, in West Plains, Miss., and lived in Vancouver for 54 years.
Mr. Johnston was a longshoreman and worked at the Port of Vancouver.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora, at home; one daughter, De Anna Bryson of Vancouver; one son, Dorcy of Beaverton, Ore.; and four grandchildren.
William F.C. Kaiser
Champlin, Minn.
A former Clark County resident, William Francis Charles Kaiser, born July 2, 1938, in Detroit. He lived in Vancouver for more than five years and moved to Minnesota about three years ago.
While living in Vancouver he worked in sales at Freightliner in Portland.
He loved his greyhounds, Roady and Bricky.
Survivors include his wife, Clare, at home; one daughter, Julie L. Broste of Minneapolis; one son, David E. of Minneapolis; two sisters, Liz Frost of Chesterfield, Mich., and Rose Marie Tocco of Shelby Township, Mich.; two brothers, Ken of Reading, Pa., and Donald of Warren, Mich.; and one granddaughter.
Mass was at the Church of St. Stephen and burial was in Calvary died Sept. 10, 2002, in Steven's Hospital in Lynnwood. She was 75.
Mrs. Murdock was died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Washougal. He was 80.
Mr. Murdock was a member of the Northwest Convertible Club and the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed collecting cars, roller-skating, swimming and traveling the world.
He was Cemetery.

Herbert J. Peters

A former Clark County resident, Herbert James Peters, born June 15, 1923, in Waynoka, Okla.
After 22 years in the Navy he retired in 1962 as a lieutenant commander. While stationed in Japan, he was in charge of Navy tugboats in Tokyo Bay. He studied the Japanese language and culture passionately while living in Zushi City. After he retired from the Navy, he worked as an engineer for Mattel Toys in Hawthorne, Calif., from 1962 to 1968. He enjoyed fishing, leather crafts, playing guitar and was an avid reader.
Two wives, Janice L. and Phyllis M., preceded him in Cemetery in San Diego. There will be a service in Longview later. Whiteside Family Mortuary in Aberdeen was in charge of arrangements.

Sarah A. Schmidt
Santa Rosa, Calif.
A former Clark County resident, Sarah Alice Schmidt, born Jan. 21, 1913, in Nebraska.
She was a member of the Elks Emblem Club in Vancouver.
Her husband, Harold C., preceded her in Cemetery in Salem, Ore. Daniels Chapel of the Roses Funeral Home and Crematory in Santa Rosa is in charge of arrangements.

Alan Parrish

A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. today at Vancouver Barracks Post died Sept. 19, 2002, in Portland. He was 55.
Mr. Parrish worked on heavy equipment in construction.
He was died in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Lani of Franklin, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Angie Bellew of Vancouver, Cathy Short of San Jose, Calif., and Lisa Walters of Tennessee; five sisters, Beverly Wade of Bellevue, Idaho, Dorothy Classburn of Stockton, Calif., Nancy Burleigh of California, Betty Vegedos of Kentucky and Bobby Emlet of New York; and two brothers, Aaron Parrish of Vancouver and Lew Wade of Modesto, Calif.
Mavis J. Smith

A 50-year Vancouver resident, Mavis J. Smith, born Aug. 25, 1931, in Montevideo, Minn.
Survivors include one daughter, Jannette Brummel of Vancouver; three sons, Wayne of Vancouver, Andy of Battle Ground and Greg of Woodland; two sisters, Beverly Cox of Vancouver and Sandra Jones of Longview; and three grandchildren.
There will be a private service. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Corinne H. Foster
Vancouver
A longtime Clark County resident, Corinne H. Foster, born May 18, 1912, in Newburyport, Mass. After attending grade school in Vancouver, she went to a Seattle business school and returned to Clark County about 1934.
She was a business manager for the Washington State School for the Blind. She retired in 1966.
Mrs. Foster was a past president of the Soroptimist Club and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Her first husband, Jose P. Torres, died in 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita Springer of Vancouver; one stepdaughter, Betty Bishop of University Place; one son, Ronald Torres of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren; four step-grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Park Hill died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Apache Junction. She was 64.
Mrs. Howard, who enjoyed playing bingo, was a homemaker.
She was death, Ronnie Johnson in 1999 and Mike Johnson in 1981.
Survivors include four daughters, Penny Eddy of Portland, and Jade Johnson, Renee Rhodes and Peggy Howard, all of Vancouver; two sons, Lonnie Johnson of Portland and Cody Howard of Seattle; three sisters, Pam Scott of Seattle, Polly DeLappe of Shelton and Penny Lange of Bonnie Lake; two brothers, Gary DeLappe of Puyallup and Grant DeLappe of Seattle; and 19 grandchildren.
Barbara J. Jackson

There will be a private service for Barbara J. Jackson, who born March 22, 1934, in Omaha, Neb., and lived in Vancouver for 40 years.
Mrs. Jackson graduated from Clark College with a nursing degree.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Lealos of Vancouver and Jacqueline Thames of Grays River; two sons, Robert Monfort of La Center and Cary Monfort of Vancouver; two sisters, Martha Cresap of Long Beach and Nancy Staggers of Vancouver; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
