A former Vancouver resident, Walter B. Murray, 96, born Oct. 10, 1905, in Hughson, Calif. He moved to El Dorado Hills from Vancouver about 31/2 years ago. A devoted churchgoer, he concentrated most of his energy on church and family.

A truck driver who enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and citizens band radio, Robert James Ray, born Oct. 12, 1936, in Prairie City, Ore. He served in the Navy and the National Guard, and moved to Vancouver six years ago from Oregon.
His wife, Beatrice, Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie N. Spetnagel
Vancouver
A homemaker who enjoyed participating in rifle target- shooting competitions when she was younger, Marjorie Nutt Spetnagel, 91, born May 6, 1911, in Portsmouth, Ohio, and moved to Vancouver seven years ago. She also enjoyed playing golf, reading and knitting.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Lane of Vancouver and Frances Owran of Summit, N.J.; three sisters, Janice Stoklin of Atlanta, Jeany McCollister of Columbus, Ohio, and Veda Fees of Chillicothe, Ohio; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated and inurned at Grandview died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in Ridgefield.
She was death.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia McClure and Jan McKay, both of Woodland; two sons, Harold Anderson of Texas and Virgil LeRoy Ray of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a private service. Davies Cremation & Burial Services is handling arrangements.
Dorothy M. Birchell
Battle Ground
A member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who liked music and playing piano, Dorothy Mae Birchell, 91, born Feb. 28, 1911, in Seattle. Her maiden name was Reis. She lived in Clark County for 15 years.
She began a nursing career during World War II and retired in the mid-1960s. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans and traveling in China.
Mrs. Birchell is remembered as having a good sense of humor.
Her daughter, Carol Birchell, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in Battle Ground. She was 78.
Ms. Dahlin liked collecting stuffed animals and playing the piano.
She was Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
Lulu E. Higgins
Brush Prairie
A service will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverview died of asbestosis Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at home in Brush Prairie. She was 89.
Mrs. Higgins was died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in Vancouver.

Eunice W. Laikko
Vancouver
A Vancouver resident since 1956, Eunice Laikko born July 8, 1925, in Floodwood, Minn., where she was raised and met and married her husband, Reino, in 1946. Her maiden name was Wenstrom.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and enjoyed dancing and socializing at Luepke Senior Center.
Mrs. Laikko liked to travel to visit her sons and their families. She especially enjoyed returning to her hometown in Minnesota to see her brother and his family.
Survivors include her husband, Reino; two sons, Paul of Omaha, Neb., and Bruce of Phoenix; a brother, Reuben of Grand Rapids, Minn.; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will start at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a reception following. Vancouver Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
