A graveside service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens died Aug. 30, 2003, in Battle Ground. She was 103.
Her husband, Cecil J., preceded her in born Aug. 10, 1900, in Salem, Ore., and lived in the Vancouver area her entire lifetime.
She worked for Del Monte Co. for about 30 years.
Survivors include one son, Lyle D. of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Leach enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and singing.
Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Virgel D.L. Mattson

Virgel Dale Larue Mattson born June 24, 1922, in Elm Creek, Neb.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he was an electrician before he became a Nazarene pastor. Mr. Mattson retired from the ministry after serving 14 years as pastor at Smith Towers in Vancouver.
He loved reading, spending time in his garden and traveling. He also liked crafts and woodwork projects.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lorenia, at home; one daughter, Pamela of Salem, Ore.; two sons, Duane of Ridgefield and Terry of Seattle; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The casket will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. A funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, in a local nursing facility. She was 95.
Her husband, William M., born April 22, 1908, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, and lived in Vancouver the past 63 years. Her maiden name was Kostman.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no service. Burial will be in Memory Memorial Park. Vancouver Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Verner G. Sheldrew

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Portland Foursquare Church for Verner G. Sheldrew, who born Jan. 24, 1918, in El Paso, Wis.
He enjoyed genealogy, creative writing, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Margaret, at home; one daughter, Carol Groenevelt of Vancouver; one son, James of La Salle, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sheldrew was a member of Portland Foursquare Church and head usher and director of the bus ministry.

Mr. Soun, who worked in the electronics industry, enjoyed sports and fishing.

John R. Stockburger, an accountant who lived in Vancouver the past eight years, born Nov. 6, 1931, in Braddock, N.D.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joyce A., at home; two daughters, Lisa Snively and Carol Decembre, both of Salem, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
An Air Force veteran and a member of Mensa, he enjoyed traveling and reading.
A celebration of his life will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be in Fisher died Aug. 28, 2003, in Vancouver. He was 69.
He was Cemetery, followed by a 1 p.m. memorial service at Orchards United Methodist Church. Brown's Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
Charles H. Wood

A retired sheet metal contractor, Charles H. Wood born Oct. 2, 1915, in Texas.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy D., at home; one son, Leslie of Vancouver; two sisters, Billy Barton of Garland, Texas, and Charlotte Low of Sulpher Springs, Texas; one brother, Glynn Gardner of Garland, Texas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wood, a Navy veteran, enjoyed restoring old cars and airplanes and traveling.
A service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, followed by burial.
Geneva R. Bacon

Geneva R. Bacon, a Vancouver resident since 1954, born Feb. 26, 1914, in Sheridan, Mo. Her maiden name was Baker.
She and her husband, Louis E., operated Bacon's Jewelry in Vancouver from 1954 until his died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, in Vancouver. He was 24.
Mr. Bisenius, a customer service representative for several banks, was Cemetery.

Wilbur C. Carroll

Former Camas resident Wilbur C. Carroll born Nov. 18, 1909, in Mitchell, Ore.
He operated The Shamrock Tavern in Camas until 1963 when he moved to Trout Lake, Wash., to work for the U.S. Forest Service. A Navy veteran, Mr. Carroll also worked in the lumber industry, drove trucks, fought fires and ran a tavern.
He was a member of Twin City Saddle Club when he lived in Camas.
Survivors include his wife, Vernamae, at home; one daughter, Carla Dillenburg of Brookings, Ore.; one son, Jack of Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be Saturday in Ocean Park. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach is in charge of arrangements.
