Burton L. Robinson
Vancouver
A lifetime member of Vancouver Elks Lodge 823 and member of the Vancouver Eagles, Burton L. Robinson born Aug. 18, 1932, in Page, Neb., and had lived in Vancouver for 18 years. A U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea, he owned and operated Albina Moving and Storage until 1975, and then Robinson Trucking and Leasing until 1995.
He enjoyed yachting, traveling to Mexico and Arizona and spending time with his close friends and family.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Tammy Martin and Cindy Lux; two stepsons, Rick and David Ulmer; one sister, Barbara Harris of Yakima; his fiance, Valerie McDowell; and good friend Ward Mullen.
There will be no service. Davies Cremation and Burial Services is in charge of arrangements.

Tom A. Simmons Jr.
Vancouver
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars, Major Tom A. Simmons Jr. born Jan. 20, 1923, in Roby, Texas, and had lived in Vancouver for 23 years. An honored recipient of the Silver Star, he retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of serving mostly in field medicine and as an adviser in Vietnam. He retired a second time from the Oklahoma State Employment Service in 1973.
He enjoyed his family, singing, fishing, golfing, dancing and travel.
He was preceded in Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara E. Wilson
Vancouver
A member of the Vancouver Public Employees Retirees Association who enjoyed traveling to state and national meetings, Barbara Evelyn Wilson born Sept. 8, 1913, in Quincy, Mass. She moved to Washington in the early 1940s and worked for the Washington State Department of Agriculture in Olympia. She later moved to take a job with the State Department of Social and Health Services and retired from the Vancouver DSHS office in the late 1970s.
She enjoyed spending winters with her husband at their home in Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Gerald, at home; five stepdaughters, Jerri Lou Wickwire of Kelowna, B.C., Vivian Edersheim of Tacoma, Mary King and Bertha McPherson both of Salem, Ore., and Margaret Hanson of Alton, Mo.; and three stepsons, Gary of Monmouth, Ore., John of Stayton, Ore., and Dan of North Bend, Wash.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur P. Andrew
Vancouver
A manager for a wholesale plumbing company and Vancouver resident for 64 years, Arthur Philip Andrew born July 14, 1937, in Portland. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed gardening, camping, antique tractors and his grandchildren.
He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mary D. van den Bosch
Vancouver
A Vancouver resident and member of First Presbyterian Church since 1933, Mary Delores van den Bosch born May 14, 1917, in Sumner, Wash. Her maiden name was Calavan. She graduated from Vancouver High School in 1934, from Linfield College in 1938 and earned a master's degree in education from Oregon State University.
After college she taught school in Oregon, worked at the former Kaiser Shipyard during World War II and helped her husband develop, build and manage several apartment complexes.
She also belonged to Columbia View Garden Club, Philanthropic Educational Organization and the former Covington Club.
She enjoyed writing, gardening, reading, bridge, dancing, the Bible, big band music, University of Washington Huskies and other college football, traveling with her husband, cruises, her family, friends and dogs.
Mrs. van den Bosch is remembered as a very spiritual woman with a strong faith in God, polite, caring, having a good business sense and understanding money and related issues.
She was preceded in Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

Abraham K. Kuni
Vancouver
A retired firefighter for the Honolulu Fire Department who loved tennis and swimming, Abraham K. Kuni born Aug. 25, 1923, in Waialua, Hawaii. He lived in Vancouver the past 11 years.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Jeffery and Kelii; three daughters, Ruth Kuni-Medeiros, Deborah Kelsey and Michele Kuni; and two grandchildren.
There will be no services. Wilhelm Funeral Home in Portland is handling arrangements.
Mary I. Robertson
Washougal
A 1938 graduate of Washougal High School who enjoyed boating, Mary Irene Robertson born April 3, 1921, on a sheep ranch in Shaniko, Ore. Her family moved to Washougal in 1934 and she worked in the Camas paper mill during World War II.
She then lived in California and Portland with her husband and family before moving back to Washougal, where she and her husband spent 27 years as members of the Dolphin Yacht Club in Washougal.
Her husband since 1945, Oscar, Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will follow at the yacht club.

Walter R. Naffin
Vancouver
A postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1951 to 1979, Walter Roy Naffin born June 28, 1921, in Vale, Ore. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin in the U.S. Navy for three and a half years years. He moved to Vancouver in 1998.
Survivors include his wife since 1943, Anne Marie of Vancouver.

Thomas R. Baker
Clark County
A mortician who worked in the funeral business from 1938 to 1975, Thomas R. Baker born Nov. 21, 1919, in Paris, Texas. He lived in Clark County since 1975 and was a member of Messiah Lutheran church.
He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Baker was a former Mason and a member of Shriners, Elks and Kiwanis groups. Also a past president of Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Chehalis, Wash., he enjoyed winemaking, clam digging, traveling to Alaska, Norway, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal.
His wife since 1946, Jennie, Cemetery in Portland. Davies Cremation and Burial Services is handling arrangements.
Douglas E. Betzing
Ridgefield
A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Ridgefield Church of the Nazarene in Ridgefield for Douglas Earl Betzing, who born Feb. 24, 1942, in Vancouver. He lived in Ridgefield for seven years and was a salesman for Kings Command Meats Inc. in Kent, Wash., for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon at home; his stepmother, Pauline Betzing of Vancouver; two daughters, Kristin Deputy of Ridgefield and Katherine Malcolm of Cle Elum, Wash.; a stepson, Doug Williams of Cocoa, Fla.; four sisters, Diane Allen and Joann McMichael, both of Sun City, Ariz., Marjorie Davis of Washougal and Dorothy Betzing of Vancouver; two brothers, Donald of Seabeck, Wash., and Richard of Vancouver; and six grandchildren.
Burial will follow the funeral in Wilson Bridge Cemetery in Vancouver. Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground is handling arrangements.
