A homemaker who enjoyed bowling, camping and working in her yard, Karnetha P. "Connie" Bellinger, 62, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Vancouver. Mrs. Bellinger, whose maiden name was Woodley, was born Dec. 4, 1939, in Vancouver. She attended school in Clark County and lived in the area most of her life. Her husband, L.D. "Bud" died in March. Survivors include two daughters, Vickie L. Niday and Denise K. Bellinger, both of Vancouver; one son, Brian K. of Portland; three brothers, David and Darold Anderson and Ed Woodley all of Vancouver; and two grandchildren. Private family services have been held with burial in Park Hill Cemetery. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Walter L. Haller

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in World War II and received the Purple Heart, Walter "Skip" Loffing Haller, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Battle Ground. He was 79. Mr. Haller was born April 20, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo. and had lived in Clark County for seven years. He worked as an import and export customs broker and had served as a reserve lieutenant for the Hawthorne, Calif., police department. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and as a Boy Scout Master had completed his Silver Moccasin. He was also a member of the Good Times Camping Club and enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. Survivors include his wife Darlyne, at home; four daughters, Sharon Tate of Lawndale, Calif., Karen Hulbert of Westminster, Calif., Kathy Hoffman of Battle Ground and Janet Noel of Sheridan, Ore.; one son, Steven of Torrence, Calif.; one sister, Ruth Heidemann of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Emil of Ithaca, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Willamette National Cemetery. The casket will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground.
Marguerite Hull

Marguerite Hull, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, in Vancouver. Mrs. Hull, whose maiden name was Holtman, was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Traskwood, Ark., and had lived in Clark Country 70 years. She was a homemaker and also worked for the Battle Ground School District administration and served as a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, gardening, knitting, crocheting and tatting. She also enjoyed her children and grandchildren, who fondly called her "Boil Bone Granny" because she could make a meal from very little. Her husband, Clarence, died in 1978. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Byrd of Long Beach, Calif. and Evelyn Leimbach of Vancouver; one son, Gary of Union, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Private services will be held. Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground is in charge of arrangements.
Donald F. Klockner

A laborer who worked in the trucking industry, Donald F. Klockner died of cancer Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at a local care center. He was 53. Mr. Klockner was born April 23, 1949, in Tacoma. He attended grade school in the Tacoma, Parkland area and then moved to El Cerrito, Calif., where he attended junior high and high school. He enjoyed playing the guitar and piano, fishing, day drives, canoeing on Detroit Lake and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Kellie, at home; one son, Mitchell B. of Suisun City, Calif.; his mother, Marjorie Klockner of Des Moines, Wash.; one sister, Mary Ellen Petersen of Federal Way, Wash.; and one brother, James of Gresham, Ore. A celebration of life gathering will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Red Lion Hotel at the Quay. Davies Cremation and Burial Service was in charge of arrangements. Claire M. Lemon

A cook who most recently worked for six years at Orchard Hills Golf and Country Club in Washougal, Claire Marie Lemon, 82, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, in Portland. Mrs. Lemon was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Lorient, France. She married Holmes W. Lemon, Sr. while he was serving in the military in France in 1945. They moved to the United States in 1948 and settled in Portland in 1970. She worked as a cook at the Pink Feather Restaurant in Portland, for 12 years and also owned and operated several restaurants in Salem. Her husband, Holmes, died in 1978. Survivors include one daughter, Jacquie McPherson of Vancouver; three sons, Holmes Jr., of Portland, John of Wamic, Ore. and Maurice of Murdock, Wash.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Vancouver Barracks Post Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home in Camas, is in charge of arrangements. A homemaker who also worked as a machine operator in production work and as a salesperson for the Minnesota Woolen Clothing Co., Darlene Ruth Marshall, 71, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, in Vancouver. Born Nov. 30, 1930, in Pleasant, Iowa, Mrs. Marshall's maiden name was also Marshall. She lived in Vancouver 61 years. When younger, she was active in the Fruit Valley Parent Teacher Association, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and roses, houseplants, sewing and re-covering furniture. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Eugene Harold, at home; one daughter, Cheryl Fritzner; five sons, Eugene Jr. of Kelso, David R. of Washougal, Rodney L. of Cougar, Gregory A. of Vancouver, and Danny W. of Seattle; one sister, Pat Price of Camas; one brother, Melvin Marshall of Vancouver; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Columbia Shores Condominiums Clubhouse. Former Vancouver resident Joseph Stanker died of cancer Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in Fort Pierce, Fla. He was 70. Mr. Stanker was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Washington and lived in Vancouver most of his life. He worked at Crown Zellerbach for 35 years and was a lifetime member of the Vancouver Elks Lodge. He moved to Florida five months ago. Survivors include his wife, Marie, at home; one daughter, Debra Fisher of Fort Pierce; two brothers, Jim of Montana and Robert of Hawaii; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Hudson's Bay graduate who worked as a deputy for the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Linda M. Talbot, 49, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at her home in Vancouver. Mrs. Talbot was born July 31, 1953, in Vancouver and lived in Clark County her entire life. She was a member of the First Church of God and enjoyed photography, camping, her family and ice cream. Survivors include her husband, John, at home; one daughter, Michelle Talbot of Vancouver; one son, Jeff of Vancouver; her father and step-mother, Sy and Carol Hartsell of Vancouver; and one brother, Garry Hartsell of Vancouver. Longtime Carson resident, Wilma May Truitt, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at home. She was 72. She was born May 16, 1930, in Skamokawa, Wash. Mrs. Truitt attended Stevenson High School. She was an active community member and served as Skamania County Democratic chairwoman for many years. She was also a member of the Willard Women's Club and the Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Truitt enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening and picking huckleberries. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include one son, W.D. Truitt of Carson; three sisters, Hazel "Corky" Combs and Ellen Mobley, both of Vancouver, and Barbara Espinosa of Camas; and special friend Karen West of Carson. Her husband, Leo, son, Kenneth, and grandson, Jack, preceded her in death. A private burial will be in the Old Carson Cemetery. Glenn M. Brasmer, 72, died Aug. 7, 2002, at home after a long illness with lung problems. He was born Dec. 15, 1929, in St. Helens, Ore. Survivors include his wife, Goldie, at home; one son, Randy of Casper, Wyo.; one sister, Connie Lemberg of Vancouver; two brothers, Clint of Washington and Delbert; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Brasmer enjoyed stockcar racing and going to the mountains. There was no service. His body was cremated. Davies Cremation and Burial Services was in charge of arrangements.
Virginia V. Hornshuh

There will be a service later for Virginia Vera Hornshuh, who died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in Vancouver. She was 84. Mrs. Hornshuh was a retired bookkeeper for Alcoa. She was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Ariel and lived the past two years in Clark County. Her maiden name was Kramer. Survivors include three sisters, Marjorie Bryant and Florence Easley, both of Vancouver, and Mildred "Sue" Stiff of Baker City, Ore.; and one brother, Donald Kramer of Ariel.
