Thomas William BRANLEY

Age 84, passed away Monday, November 19, 2001, of pancreatic cancer. He was born March 11, 1917 in Everett, Wash. and lived and worked in the Seattle area most of his life. Tom is survived by his beloved wife Eileen, to whom he was married 60 years, their five children Tom Jr., Doug, Meg, Mary Jo, and Dan, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Tom's third child, daughter Barbara, passed away in 1952. Beginning as a clerk for the Great Northern Railroad in 1938, he retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad as Chief of Manpower Con trol in 1982. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was especially known for his strong Catholic faith, caring heart and dry sense of humor. An active member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years, he served as Grand Knight of Seattle Council No. 676, and as past State Deputy of the Knights. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednes day, November 21st, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, and will be preceded by a Rosary Service at 8:30 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle, 425 Pontius Ave. N., Suite 300, Seattle, WA. 98109. George D. BRANSON

George D. Branson passed away peacefully October 24, 2001, after fighting a heroic battle with cancer and other related illnesses. George was very generous and always willing to help others. He had a great sense of humor and a passion for cooking. He was born in Taft, Calif. January 10, 1923 and raised in Los Angeles, Calif. He graduated from Englewood High School with a silver seal on his diploma and a scholarship to UCLA as a pre-law student. He later attended Southwestern University Law School. In September 2001 he received his Gold Certificate as a 50 year member of the Kern County Bakersfield Lodge No. 224 F&AM, a member of York Scottish Rite and Supreme Council 33. He was an independent owner operator in the bakery industry and later became a member and officer in Teamsters Local 87. He served as secretary treasurer of Local 87 in Bakersfield for 29 years; secretary treas urer of Teamsters Joint Council in Sacramento for 10 years; and 19 years as trustee on the Teamsters Western Conference Pension Trust Fund in Seattle. He was a loving, loyal and devoted husband and father. He married his wife Helen on June 4, 1950, and is survived by her; sons, Gordon of Salt Lake City, Utah and Gary of Woodinville, WA.; two grandsons and two great grandchildren; his sister Betty Triede of Lincoln City, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Kathryn Branson of Bakersfield, Calif. He retired in 1986 and moved to Woodinville. He was a friend and lover of all animals, fur, feather or otherwise. He requested cremation and no memorial services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be mailed to Hooterville Pet Safehaus, P.O. Box 2293, Woodinville, WA. 98072 or another related facility. (Obit dated 11/21/2001.)

Harold V. 'Vic' BRIGGS

Born September 9, 1913 in Monticello, Wisconsin. passed away on November 17, 2001 in Seattle, Washington. He was in the United States Army during WWII fighting in the European Theatre. Vic was a mechanic working for Boeing for over 30 years. He is survived by the love of his life, Jane, after 60 years of marriage, daughters Karol Roberts and her husband Bill of Port Angeles, WA, Marilynn Honsowetz and her husband Jack, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild, brothers Albert, and William Sr. of Albany, Wisconsin. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 12 Noon, Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle. Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association. Arthur J. BURGH

passed away Sunday, November 18th. He was born in Trenton, NJ to Pauline and Arthur Burgh on July 1st, 1916. A.J., as he was known most of his life, made a passion for radios into a life long hobby as a Ham (amateur radio operator) holding the W7KEQ call sign since high school. That passion for radios extended to his service in the Navy where he was a Chief Petty Radio Officer in a night bombing squadron aboard the USS Carrier Enterprise. After WWII and back in civilian life he earned his degree in Electrical engineering at Seattle University graduating in 1953. During his long career he was one of the developers of the Loran Navigation System with Sperry Gyroscope and ended his career at Boeing, which he fondly referred to as the "Lazy B". Early in his Boeing career he work in the Dyna Soar program and ended it in the Minuteman program. In addition to radios, A.J. had a life long love of golf. He was a charter and longtime member of Sahalee Golf & Country Club. Over the years he won his share of tournaments and even made several holes-in-one. His son Christopher and wife Ruth preceded A. J. in death. His wife Margaret (Pegge) Burgh, her daughter Judy, son-in-law David and their two children, Isaac and Luke survive him. A son, Steven, daughter-in-law D.J. and two grandchildren, Samantha and Christopher, of Bellevue, also survives him. In Addition his sister Betty and Nephew, Randy who lives in De troit survive A.J. A simple graveside ceremony will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24th at Sun set Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue. A.J. re quested that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to Children's Orthopedic Hospital, P. O. Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98105-0371. (Obit dated 11/24/2001.)

June M. BURINK

Long time Seattle resident June Burink, 84, died November 17th, 2001 in Oregon after suffering a stroke.
She was born on June 21, 1917 in Seattle, WA. to John and Mary Taylor.
She grew up in Seattle and graduated from Queen Anne High School.
Early years she worked at the telephone company, later for the Seattle Public Schools in the cataloging department.
On December 13, 1941, she married Fred A. Burink.
He preceded her in death in 1996. Survivors include brothers Harold and Ray Taylor of Seattle; four children in Oregon: sons Fred D. and David Burink, daughters Susan Pearson, and Vicki Mills; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Clayton John BURNARD

Clay Burnard, long-time Kirkland resident, died November 19, 2001 at Redmond Retirement Manor.
He was born on January 28, 1911.
He was preceded in death last year by his wife of 65 years.
He is survived by his daughter Andrea Delaney of Redmond, son Jay Burnard of Tacoma, son and daughter-in-law John and Lydia Burnard of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and granddaughters Robin Delaney of Renton and Erin Delaney of Maple Valley.
At Mr. Burnard's request, no Services will be held.

Leslie Bennett BUTTERFIELD

Leslie Bennett Butterfield passed away November 21, 2001 after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer. She was born December 1, 1953 and lived in Edmonds, Washington for 47 years. Leslie graduated from Edmonds High School in 1972 and from Washington State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While at Washington State, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Leslie was a branch manager, operations director and Human Resources Vice-President for Doug Fox Travel for 23 years. During the past five years, Leslie worked as a real estate agent for Windermere Real Estate in Edmonds. She was very active within the community which included her involvement with Young Life of Snohomish County, Edmonds Police Foundation Board and a number of youth-oriented civic endeavors. Leslie and her family loved their cabin in the mountains and especially enjoyed cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, hiking and travel. She was an avid writer and poet. She is survived by her husband; Brad Butterfield and daughter, Alex Butterfield. Leslie is also survived by her mother Crisse Bennett and her five brothers, Geoffrey, Peter, Leigh, Rick and Alex Bennett, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Chester R. Bennett. Leslie's family deeply appreciates the extraordinary gifts of care-giving by all of her friends over the last months of her life. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, November 26th at 1 p.m. at the Edmonds United Methodist Church at 828 Caspers St., Edmonds, WA. 98020. In lieu of flowers, an academic scholarship will be established in her memory and memorial contributions may be made to the Leslie Bennett Butterfield Scholarship Fund, 400 Dayton Street, Suite A., Edmonds, WA. 98020.

William E. BYERS
10/31/16 - 11/16/01

Beloved husband of Nancy and father of Gail (John) Duncan and Pamela (Robert) White and predeceased by daughter, Dena. Grandchildren, Julie Evenson and Chad Duncan, Christine and Jeff White, great grandson Cree Evenson, sister Betty Slyfield and sister-in-law Ann Byers. Bill was employed by the Seattle School District for 30 years. He was an avid golfer, woodcarver of Northwest Indian art, dedicated volunteer at the Seattle Aquarium, and enjoyed his time spent at their summer home on Camano Island. Memorials may be sent to the Seattle Aquarium Society, 1402 - 3rd Avenue, Suite 1000, Seattle, 98101. Private graveside services have been held. (Obit dated 11/24/2001.)

Walter H. CABLE

Of Everett, passed away November 20, 2001.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. the 27th at Olympic Baptist Church in Edmonds, WA, at 1 p.m.
Viewing will be held on Monday the 26th at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood from 10 to 5.

James Edward CAMPBELL

Age 69, passed away Friday, November 16, 2001 in Puyallup, WA.
He was born February 6, 1932 in Shrewsbury, MA, to George Joseph and Alice Green.
He moved to Seattle in 1960 starting a career with Boeing, retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his sons, Jason, Alan and Brian; daughter, Janet; sister, Ruth McKeon; brother, George Campbell, and 10 grandchildren.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. at the Church at Palisades, 5015 S.W. Dash Point Road, Federal Way.

Leonard Avery CAREY

Went to be with his Lord on November 15, 2001. Leonard was the husband of his beloved wife, Miriam Elliott Carey, for over 52 years, the father of David Leonard Carey of New York City and Melissa Carey Terwiske of Irvine, California, the brother of Nancy Garceau of Tustin, California, and the father-in-law of Donald Terwiske of Irvine. He had six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Leonard was born in San Francisco and raised in Seattle, attending John Muir grade school, Franklin High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and the Naval R.O.T.C. He served his country during World War II in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and in other naval engagements. Leonard had two careers. He was an executive with Fibreboard, Inc., in Seattle, San Francisco and Phoenix and later was involved in real estate as a developer, investor, broker, consultant and commercial appraiser in the Russian Far East, China, Japan and the western United States. He was a member of several professional organizations and was active in community and Christian affairs. Upon returning to Seattle in 1993, he and Miriam rejoined the University Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and Stephen minister. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 7th and Spring, on Wednesday, November 21, at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Parking will be provided in the church garage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leadership Development Foundation, 6659 - Kimball Drive, Suite A-101, Gig Harbor, Washington 98335-5138 or to the Union Gospel Mission, 3800 - South Othello, Seattle, 98118. Mary Anna COLE, 69, died November 22 in Nampa, ID., wife of Eugene, Paul Cole, deceased; mother of Susan Fewell and Arthur Shupe.

Flora CONSEGO

A Memorial Service for Flora (Tiny) Consego, will be held on Saturday, November 24th in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 820 18th Ave., Seattle at 12 p.m. Flora (Tiny) Consego passed away October 18th, 2001 in Torrance, California. The Funeral was held at Philomena's Parish in Carson, with the Burial in San Pedro, California. Tiny was born January 5, 1927 in Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii. An alumna of Seattle University, she lived in Torrance for 32 years after moving with her family from Seattle. Tiny worked for Boeing and retired from TRW. She was a 47-year volunteer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1954-55 she was president of the VFW'S Seattle Post 6599 Ladies Auxiliary. A professional Hawaiian dancer, she served for many years in the ministries of St. Philomena Parish in Carson. She was one of the founders of the Filipino Youth Activities of Seattle (FYA), a folk dancing moderator and served as the FYA Drill Team's chairperson at its inception in 1959. Surviving members of the Consego family, headed by its patriarch and Tiny's husband of 55 years, Ben Consego of Torrance, California. Other survivors include four daughters, Regina (Frank) Seidl, Dulcinda (John) Salatich, Debra Murray, and Rochelle (Frank) Spitzer, and son, Ron (Lynette) Consego. 10 grandchildren, Alycia (Calvin) Consego Luke, Sinamon Consego, Natasha and Sonja Seidi, Shane, Steven, and Scottie Salatich, Elena Murray, Nicholas and Kirsten Spitzer; one great grandchild, Trevoe Salatich; a brother, Steve Tania; six sisters, Bobbie Balios, Ellie Jacinto, Bessie Labrador, Mary Kautz, Elaine Ginn and Carol Tania; and other numerous and nephews.
