Gregory W. Alm, 51, of Mountlake Terrace, WA, died Saturday May 18, 2002. He is survived by his parents Betty and Wally Alm, his wife Cathy Alm, 3 children Kourtney, Elizabeth, and Zachary and brothers Geoffery and Kelvin. Greg, graduated from Shoreline High School in 1969, served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. For the last 15 years he was a Seattle Police Officer. A memorial service will be held Thursday May 23, 2002 at 12 pm at the Seattle Baptist Church, 24228 76th Ave, W Edmonds, WA. Faye Phifer ANDERSON
In loving remembrance of Faye Phifer Anderson. Born in Nebraska Jan. 5, 1913, she passed away May 18th in Des Moines, WA. Now in the presence of our Heavenly Father, Faye joins her husband Melvin, daughter Marilyn (Dottie) and son Charles. She is survived by granddaughters Karlynne Tazioli (husband Jeff) of Burien, Lori Shine and Kim Greene both of Nevada, Catherine Médal (husband Mike) of Yerba Hills, CA., grandson Carl Anderson of Santa Cruz, CA., and three great-grandsons. Faye will be dearly missed by her family and myriad friends. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 1005 S.W. 152nd in Burien on Monday, June 3rd at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome to join us at Angelo's Ristorante, 601 S.W. 153rd after the Service. Carl H. AUMANN
Age 83, passed away peacefully at his home May 19, 2002. Carl is survived by his daughter Jeanne Boyd; his son Jon Aumann; two granddaughters, Carolyn and Lisa; one grandson, Scott; one great grandson, Jordan; one sister, Anna Emkes; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years retiring in 1960, then worked with the Carnation Milk Company for 20 years retiring in 1982. The Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 3 p.m. at the BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Highline United Methodist Church, 13015 - 1st Avenue South, Burien, WA. Peter P. BACHMAN
Born September 23, 1923 in Bowdel, SD; passed away May 22, 2002 in Des Moines, WA at the age of 78 years. Peter grew up in South Tacoma and played baseball with the South Tacoma Pines. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed golfing, playing and watching base ball. Peter was a member of the Molders and Allied Workers Union, and a member of the Tacoma Eagles. He is survived by his beloved children, Michael Bachman and Susan Bach man-Rose; sister Matilda Benton; brothers Jonas, Francis “Sonny”, Leonard, and Henry Bachman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathryn Ruth BACK
Born in Eau Claire, WI. on May 22, 1919, died at her home in Shoreline on May 11, 2002. Survived by her husband Leonard, her sons Norman, Gordon, and Alan, and her daughter Christine. Also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Thursday Hiking Group, and loved birding, nature and sailing. She enjoyed bridge and looked forward to her weekly Scrabble games. There will be a Memorial Service held at 1:30 p.m., June 15, at Emmanuel Bible Church, 503 - N. 50th St. in Seattle. Gerald W. BALDWIN, C.P.A.
Died May 26, 2002 in Bellevue, WA. at the age of 73. He was born in Seattle on July 14, 1928. He attended grade school at St. Patrick's in Seattle, spent one year at Seattle Prep, then moved to California with his family where he completed the final 3 years of high school. He enlisted in the Army out of high school and served in the Army in Korea in 1946-1947. Attended Seattle University, graduating with a degree in accounting in 1951. He had passed the state CPA exam prior to graduation. He began his accounting career working for the Government Accounting Office (GAO) for several years and then established his own accounting business, first in Seattle, then on the Eastside. Met and married
Beverly Voelker in 1961. They had three sons, Mike, Steve and Brian. Jerry especially enjoyed cruises and traveled extensively with Beverly throughout his retirement, seeing all seven continents. Survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly Baldwin; Son Michael (Kimber), Cincinnati, OH.; son, Steven (Candace) Woodinville, WA., Son, Brian Baldwin of Seattle; Grandchildren Jeffrey Annie, Becky and another to arrive in September, Sister Flavia (Bill) Lagerquist (Seattle) and sister-in-law Alice Baldwin, Santa Clara, CA., predeceased by brother Chris and Dick. Visitation will be May 39 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, Bellevue and Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue followed by burial at Calvary cemetery. Evelyn BALKO
Loving mother of John Balko, passed away May 24, 2002, at the age of 91. She was born 12-15-10 in Springfield, Missouri, the oldest of four children to William and Belle Chase. Evelyn is survived by her son, John Balko, of Seattle, and sister, Betty Parks, of Gig Harbor, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Balko, Sr., owner of Puget Sound Salvage & Equipment Co., her daughter, Fern Balko, grandson, Daniel Shephard, sister, Fern Eckland, and brother, William Chase. Evelyn was known for her love of life, gentle humor and faith in God. She loved to watch reruns of old time movies and even though she was confined to a wheelchair from a massive stroke in 1976 she still, with the aid of her son, was able to enjoy dinner out each evening and to attend any form of entertainment taking place. Her favorite outings were to Mt. Rainier, Leavenworth and Hawaii. She never failed to observe every important day or event of family or friend with a card or gift. A beautiful lady in mind, body, and soul with a deep compassion for anyone world wide incurring misfortune. She delighted in telling a humorous story to one and all and end up laughing along with them. Evelyn was especially proud to be classified as a "Rosie the Riveter" for Boeings during WWII, and had just recently been awarded a plaque for her patriotic war effort by the U.S. Dept. of Labor Women's Bureau. She will be deeply mourned and sincerely missed by whomever's life she has touched. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, 6-02-02 at the Fauntleroy Community Church, 9260 California Ave. S.W. followed by a gathering in the church social hall. Of Seattle, WA was born on July 15, 1921 in Bremerton, WA. Marie, beloved wife of the late Robert F. Barnfather, died Saturday May 25, 2002. She is survived by children Judith (David) Wahl, James (Linda) Barnfather, her twins Jan Barnfather and Jeffrey (Julie) Barnfather; grandsons Scott (Wendy) Simonsen and Sean Simonsen; and great-granddaughter Jamie Marie Simonsen. Marie had a passion for antiques and always felt best when adorned in sequins. She devoted many years as a precinct committeewoman for the Democratic Party. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at WIGGEN & SONS FUNERAL HOME 2003 NW 57th St., Seattle, WA In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland, WA, or the Susan G. Born Sept. 6, 1908 in Somerville, Mass. preceded in death by first wife Pearl Storness Bassett, second wife Beatrice DeYoung Bassett and son Benjamin; he is survived by his wife Sylvia Halstead Bassett; daughter Diane Lynch; son Douglas (Sandy); grandchildren, Christopher (Mary) Lynch, Anthony (Christine) Lynch, Michael Lynch, Peter Lynch, Douglas Bassett Jr., Devon (Shari) Bassett, Melissa (Mike) Johnson, Megan (Matt) Keenan, Brianna Bassett, and Adam Bassett; five great grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He is also survived by stepdaughters Marcia Halstead-Nichols, Gretchen Jovanovich, Cathy Mikkelsen, and Stephanie Marcelynas; step-grandchildren Ryan Wynn, David Skeels and Antoinette Barger. Betty Bates BAXTER
Born January 10, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois. Died May 23, 2002 in Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Baxter was born and raised in Illinois. She attended Hillsdale College in Michigan. She married
Thomas C. Baxter in 1940 (her maiden name was Bates). Mr. Baxter died in 1986. Mrs Baxter was employed at Haggens Bakery in Edmonds, Washington from 1971 to 1986 at which time she retired. Moved to Oregon from WA. in 1999 to be near her family. Member of the Teamster retail clerks union and a Lady Elks. As per her request there will be no service.
