James Metcalf DORR
January 6, 1924 - May 22, 2002

Jim Dorr passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, WA. due to complications from surgery. Jim was born in Dayton, WA. to Clark and Ruth Metcalf Dorr. He received his education in the Dayton Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1943. He entered the Army immediately after high school and served in the European Theatre participating in the invasion of France. While stationed in England, Jim met Doris and Charles, Jack and Ivy, Lilian and Beryl, who all became life-long friends to Jim and his family. After the war he married his childhood sweetheart, Marjorie Stott and continued his education at the Lewiston, Idaho Normal School and Washington State College where he received his teaching degree. He began his teaching career in Riverside and St. John, WA and the relocated his family in 1955 to Burien, WA where he finished his distinguished teaching and coaching career of 31 years with the Highline School District. “Mr. Dorr” will be remembered by his many students and colleagues as a kind and compassionate friend and mentor. He also spent many summers managing the Gregory Heights Swim Club in Burien. Besides his family, “our dad's” pride and joy was his and mom's lake home on Lake St. Clair near Olympia, WA where they spent many “Good Times” with family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his father in 1982, his mother in March, 2002, wife Marjorie Stott Dorr in 1996, brother George Dorr in 1988 and niece Susan Dorr Jones in 1995. Survivors include daughters Patty and Pam and granddaughter Amy, who affectionately referred to him as “Papa”; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Janis Dorr of Yakima, WA.; sister-in-law Margaret Folsom and friend and companion Carol Brown both of Burien. “Uncle Jim” is also survived by an extended family of many wonderful nieces and nephews. “His loss leaves an emptiness in all of our hearts which we will fill with loving and cherished memories.” In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA. 99210 or favorite charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at BONNEY-WATSON, Parker Chapel, 900 S.W. 146th, Burien on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Dayton, WA. at date to be announced. Marlin Daniel DUGAN

Born October 29, 1908 in Bismarck, ND. died May 29, 2002 at the age of 93. Survived by his nephews; James, Dennis, Gerald, and Thomas Dugan, his niece, Florence Donaghue and his cousin, Helene Doppler. He was preceded in death by Florence, his wife of 57 years. Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday at 5 p.m. at Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Chapel Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 am at Christ the King Church, 405 N. 117th St. Seattle. Interment icon Holyrood cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Serra Club of Seattle, 1939 10th Ave. E., Seattle, WA. 98102.

Phyllis Lundell EADIE

Age 86, passed away May 23, 2002 in Seattle. She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law Susan Eadie and Diane and John Smith, two grandchildren Kathy and Matthew, five great-grandchildren, one sister Elsa Mahan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Park Shore, 1630 - 43rd Avenue East, Seattle, WA. Private family graveside Committal Service will be held at Lake View cemetery, Seattle, WA. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements, Bonney-Watson Capitol Hill. Kenneth Earl ELLER

Kenneth Earl ELLER, 55, of Seattle, WA., died Sunday, May 19, 2002 at the home of his brother after a long illness. He was born October 3, 1946 in Beckley, W.V. Kenneth was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was currently employed by Boeing Aircraft as a Flight Engineer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Johns Eller. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Miskel and Charlotte Eller of Barboursville; a daughter, Melissa Eller of Ft. Wayne, IN.; two sons, Chris Eller and Shawn Eller, both of Oklahoma City, OK.; eight grandchildren; a sister, Robin Wilson of Wayne, W.V.; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Renee Eller of Barboursville; his girlfriend, Pam O'Hara of Seattle, WA.; several loving nieces and nephews and a host of friends and co-workers. Private family services will be held at a later date. Beard Mortuary, 3001 3rd Avenue, Huntington, W.V. is in charge of arrangements. (Obit dated 05/29/2002.)

Genevieve EMERSON

Genevieve EMERSON passed away peacefully at her son's home in Mount Vernon, WA, on May 22, 2002, following several years of illness. She was born in Eden Prairie, MN on June 1, 1909 to Ragna Aune and Charles Frederick Beard. The family moved to Iowa, Genevieve graduated from Dallas Center High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree in English and Latin at Cornell University, and then began teaching those subjects at the High School level. When World War II started, she joined WACS, and instead of teaching Latin, she soon found herself teaching wounded soldiers how to regain movement in their arms and legs. The Army enrolled her in an intensive Master's Degree curriculum in Physical Therapy at Stanford University, and upon completion she began to develop and practice physical therapy and orthopedic treatment programs for traumatic wounds. Her duty assignments included Warm Springs, Fort Benning, and Walter Reed, and she was appoint Chief of Physical Therapy at Tokyo General. She retired from the Army in 1959 at the rank of Major, and married Frank H Emerson, residing on Magnolia Bluff in Seattle, and then Ocean Shores. She performed some consulting work through the Mason Clinic for Police Officers who had suffered traumatic injuries in the line of duty. Genevieve is survived by her two sisters, Charlotte and Elsie, children Norma Jean, John, and Frank, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Her husband and brothers Charles and Harold passed away in recent years. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam, WA, at 12pm on May 31, 2002 Arrangements by Coleman Mortuary. Remembrances suggested to Children's Orthopedic Hospital, PO Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98105 (Obit dated 05/26/2002.)

Dorothy Jean ERICKSON

Born December 5, 1917 in Mackay, Idaho, passed away May 19, 2002. Dottie was a rare person that was pure of heart and completely without guile or malice. She possessed an inner beauty that was evident to all who had the good fortune to meet her. Her ever-present smile and positive attitude was, and continues to be, an inspiration for us all. Val Fields, age 43, of Bellingham, WA., passed away May 21, 2002 in Glacier, WA. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, June 1, at 5 p.m. at The Boathouse, 3600 Harbor Loop, Squalicum Harbor, Bellingham. (Obit dated 05/31/2002.)

Mary J. FISHER

Born August 27, 1931 in Spokane, WA; died May 26, 2002 in Seattle. Survived by John, her loving husband of 45 years; children, Deborah Gunderman (Jody) and David Fisher (Amanda); grandchildren, Jerome and Erica Gunderman and Ethan Fisher; brother-in-law, Gene Fisher (Marie); and nephew, John. A long time parishioner of Christ the King Church, Mary was past president of the Christ the King Sodality and volunteered often at the church including the Funeral Reception Committee. She loved boating, motorcycling, sewing and quilting. Recitation of the Rosary will be today, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. at Hoffner Fisher & Harvey Chapel Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 30th, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church. Esther FLICK

Beloved wife of Jim Flick, died May 27, 2002 at her home in Kent following a two and a half year battle with cancer. She was 70. She was born on June 25, 1931 in the village of Ouzinkie on Spruce Island in the Territory of Alaska. Esther was the youngest of eight children born to Arthur Levine and Angelina (Larionoff) Levine. She lived in Kent since 1962. She was a homemaker, loved reading books, gardening and camping, and was a talented seamstress. She is survived by her husband Jim, brother Roy Levine of Alaska, daughter Maureen Petan of Ohio, sons Steve and Michael Griffin of Alaska, Jeffrey Griffin of Missouri; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at Covington Memorial Service on May 30, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Graveside Services will follow at 1 p.m. at Tahoma National cemetery. Harriet Estella FORD

Found peace and comfort Tuesday, May 21, 2002. Harriet was born April 27, 1918 to George H. and Estella P. Adair. She graduated from Queen Anne High School and attended the University of Washington where she joined Alpha Phi Sorority. Both brothers, Chester and George, preceded her in death. Following in the footsteps of her predecessors, Harriet was a true native of Seattle, loving the Pacific Northwest and its rich heritage. In 1938 Harriet married Dolph Zubick and they had two sons, Dolph Zubick Jr., now living in Devon, England, and Anthony Zubick, who lives in Los Angeles, CA. Dolph Sr. and Harriet lived in Laurelhurst and owned the Zubick Photographic Studio in the University District. Harriet was active in a Children's Orthopedic Hospital Guild, loved to play bridge and was a keen sailor. She was an avid Husky fan and the Seattle Mariners won her heart in her last years. In 1969 Harriet was an Admiralette for Seattle Yacht Club's Opening Day, and was an active member of the Seattle Yacht Club throughout her life. After Dolph Sr.'s death, Harriet married Arne Vesoja and following Arne's death she married John P. Ford in 1979. They enjoyed sailing, traveling together and spent many happy hours at the Seattle Yacht Club until John's death in 1994. She returned to Queen Anne Hill, where she lived at The Viewpoint on Queen Anne until her death. Harriet leaves behind: her two sons, Dolph and Tony and their wives, Angela and Sharon; two granddaughters, Kelleen Zubick of Denver, CO., and Kimberly Zubick of Encino, CA. ; niece, Janet Adair Eichler and her family of Mercer Island, WA.; nephews Fred Adair of Olympia, WA., and George Adair of Seattle, WA; stepson John Ford of Bellevue, WA.; and step-daughter, Jakelyn Van Pool of Fed eral Way, WA. Harriet had requested that memorials be sent in lieu of flowers to the Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle. There will be a private family service. A reception for family and friends, honouring her life, will be held at the Seattle Yacht Club, Sunday, June 16, 2002, in The Heritage Room, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Harriet will be remembered for her beauty and style, sparkling eyes, quick smile, wonderful sense of humour, and her love for her family and friends. Julia May FORD

Of Bellevue, died May 23rd, 2002 at age 65.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Earl, daughters Lynn (Peter) Boileau of Seattle, Debbie Price of Bonney Lake, son Ron (Susie) Ford of Lake Stevens and five grandchildren Tyler, Gavin, Addie, Chandler and Cameron.
Funeral Service 12 noon on Wednesday, May 29th at Green's Bellevue Funeral Home, 1215 145th Pl. S.E. (Obit dated 05/26/2002.)

John David FOULKES

Born October 11, 1924 died May 25, 2002.
He will be greatly missed by his family, Bess Foulkes, Eileen Foulkes, Janey Hildebrand, Emily and Craig Hildebrand, Catherine Foulkes, Liz and John Fisher and many friends.
