Eileen Mills NIVEN
Eileen Mills Niven was born in Seattle, Washington to pioneer parents on January 5, 1910, and died on November 4, 2000.
She was a 1929 graduate from the University of Washington, majoring in Philosophy and received her masters from Radcliffe.
On a trip around the world she met her future husband, Alexander Niven, in Singapore, she was widowed in 1964.
After World War II she earned a second Bachelor's Degree in Classical Studies and was later a secretary to the Classics Department at the University of Washington until she retired.
She is survived by a nephew, David Mills and his three children.
Nieces Claudia and Elizabeth, and her sister in law Dorothy Mills who resides at the Horizon House. At her request there will be a private family service.

Gladys Irene NORTHFIELD
Born July 22, 1914 in Big Springs, NE.; went home to be with the Lord November 4, 2000 in Edmonds, WA.
She lived in Colorado and Cali fornia before moving to Washington in the 1940's.
She married
Kenneth E. Northfield in 1947 and lived in Edmonds, WA. until the time of her death.
Loving mother of K. Edmund North field, and his wife Carol, and their daughter Tonya; William Northfield and his wife Denise, and their children Nicole and Lindsay; Nancy Bell and her husband, Jay, and their children Jason Bell and Kristi Nelson and her daughter Megan Nelson.
Also survived by her brother Fred Foltz.
Gladys was well traveled, enjoyed reading and card playing, and most of all loved her family.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Northfield will be celebrated Thursday, November 9th, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lynnwood.
Interment, Washelli cemetery.

Joined 116th Combat Engineers in 1940 and served in World War II for five years, three of those in the South Pacific area. Honorably discharged 1945 with the rank of Captain. Graduated University of Idaho, 1949. Married Mary Gano in Moscow, Idaho in 1946. Joined General Electric Major Appliance Division in 1950, Boise, Idaho and retired 35 years later in Bellevue, Washington, 1985. Humor loving member of AA since 1975. Avid tennis hacker at any time. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary, Bellevue, WA.; daughter, Judy and son Robert, Bellevue, WA.; son, Ralph, Wallace, Idaho; sister Doris Miller, Philadelphia, PA.; and granddaughter, Rachel Gray-Special Best Buddy. Ethel PALMER
Died November 7, 2000 in Lyn-Mar Adult Care in Renton, WA., she was 89. Born April 30, 1911.
She lived in Northgate, till the passing of her hus band, Clyde Palmer. She resided in Renton the past 10 years. She enjoyed shopping, bowling and golfing, and worked for many years in the dry cleaning business. She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Williams of Renton, and Shirley Nelson of Kent; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ann C. Kjeldsen PATTEE
Ann Pattee died on November 6, 2000. She was born April 28, 1910 in Hudson, Iowa, the fifth of nine children born to Danish immigrants, Rasmus and Mathilde Kjeldsen. In 1911, the family moved to a farm in the French Town Valley area of western Montana where Ann grew up. Her first marriage ended in divorce. With a young daughter to support and limited opportunities available for her in Montana, Ann moved to Seattle in 1942. She worked for the Seattle Transit System, now King County Metro, for over 30 years. Upon retirement she began a new career as a volunteer for a number of cultural and service organizations, including Intiman Theatre Co., ACLU, Union Gospel Mission, Josephinum Home, the Lion's Club and the Association of Retired City Employees. But her longest association was with the local NPR station, KUOW, which lasted 24 years. When she could no longer actively participate in the pledge drives, she sent her famous "frog belly" cookies to the station for the other volunteers. She was a member of Christ the King Church and active in senior activities at the Church. Through her marriage to George I. Pattee in 1982, she became a member of his large extended family. It gave her great pleasure to participate in their gatherings including a trip to Scotland for a McKay clan event. She deeply appreciated their love and support. Ann will be remembered for her quiet, dignified manner, her generosity, her dedication to important causes and her love for her family. She was a great lady beloved by those privileged to know her. She is survived by her daughter, Irene Joshi (Raj); granddaughters, Manisha (Malcolm MacDonald) and Elysebeth; a great-grandson, Nahele; her sisters, Helen McCulloch, Missou la, MT. and Rhoda Thompson (Warren) of Campbell River, B.C.; and numerous nephews and nieces. Her husband, George, died in 1985. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 11, 2000 at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 405 N. 117th, Seattle. Dr. Lyle Llewellyn PHILLIPS 77, of Raleigh, NC, died Friday November 3, 2000. Lyle was born June 14, 1923 in Long Beach, CA. He received degrees from several universities in California, as well as a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, and a Post-Doctoral Fellow from Washington State College. Lyle is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia McDowell Phillips of Cary, NC; his parents, Llewellyn C. Phillips and Katherine Phillips of Seal Beach, CA; son, Barton A. Phillips and wife Margaret of Vancouver, WA, and their children, Lyle Llewellyn (Cirrus) Phillips and Mike Phillips; daugther, Linda Phillips Boney and husband Dan of Mountain City, TN, and their children, Rae and Rebecca Boney; son, Norman Lyle Phillips and Michelle Grider of Hampstead, NC, and their children, Norman Lyle Phillips and Emily Grider; and brother, Leon N. Sherryl was born August 14, 1940 in Renton, Wa. Our gentle and loving wife, sister and best friend passed away on October 28, 2000 of meta static breast cancer. Sherryl married
Dick Ponti on May 29, 1971. She was a member of the Green River Depression Glass Club, National Cambridge Glass Society, National Heisey Glass Society, and the Renegades Glass Club. She was employed by Continental Can Co. for 23 years prior to their closing, and at Long Painting Co. in Seattle, a company that she loved and cherished until being forced to retire because of her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Eunice Maher, and sister Deborah. Sherryl is survived by her husband at home, brothers Gary Maher and wife Lauree, and Mark Maher and wife Chris; and very special friends Kay and Swede Larrson, Bea and Terry Martin, Jackie and Clarence Dieu, Tim and Robin Cook, and Ray Mears, plus a host of others that will never be forgotten. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, November 6, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 350 Monroe Ave. N.E., Renton, Wa. James Vincent PRICE
Age 53, of Edmonds, Washington, passed away November 4, 2000. He was born the son of Howard and Lucy Price on June 28, 1947, in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone, and raised in Maryland. He retired from the United States Navy in 1986, and then relocated to Washington where he was employed by Todd Shipyards. Jim was well liked and respected by his peers. He also looked forward to his fishing and camping trips, as well as country line dancing, with his friends. Those who knew him will always remember his joyful outlook on life and his great sense of humor. We will truly miss him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Janice Ann Price; son, Jesse Snyder, and daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Randy Bell; two granddaughters, Regina and Deanna Bell; father and mother, Howard and Lucy Price; brothers, Joseph and Jeffrey Price; sis ters, Joanne Simmons, Jeanette and Jennifer Price.
