She leaves her loving husband Ted, twin brother Michael (Lisa) Hess, mother Lorain Hess, daughter Beth (Dan) Mulvany, daughter Amy Lowry, Joe and Camille Holstein, Jil Holstein and Mark Dorman, Scott and Darla Lowry, Lyn and Mark Hippauff, and Randy Nolan. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren. Elizabeth Ann HOLTZ
Age 60, died at her home surrounded by her family on May 17, 2002. She was born on December 9, 1941 in Bellingham, WA. She earned a degree at Western Washington Univ. in English and taught in the Seattle area for several years. In Seattle she met and married
Warren Holtz her husband of 32 years. They settled in Edmonds where they raised their three children. The couple moved to Walla Walla in 1994. Survivors include her children Patrick Holtz, Kathryn Ryan and husband Colin Ryan, Mary Patterson and husband Kirk Patterson and grandson Benjamin Ryan. She is preceded in death by her husband Warren Holtz and her sister Lauretta Damitio. Funeral Services were held on May 21, 2002 in Walla Walla. She is loved and will be missed dearly. Born, May 15, 1919 in Lidgerwood, North Dakota, died peacefully with his family at his Seattle home on May 25, 2002, following a courageous battle with emphysema and CHF. Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma, three children, Connie, Lana and Tim, two brothers, Rex and Charlie, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His mother, father, sister, and great-granddaughter preceded him in death. Butch will be best remembered for his love of bowling, cards, and can collecting. Talliesin (Tal) Evans JONES
A native of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, died May 18, 2002 at the age of 78 due to complications associated with a severe stroke. Tal, of Welsh descent, was born in Seattle January 10, 1924 to Randall and Millie Mooers Jones. He spent his boyhood summers boating, fishing and crabbing at his family's cabin at Tulalip Beach. He graduated from Lincoln High School and received his degree in Journalism from the University of Washington where he was a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity. Tal didn't wait to be drafted and volunteered for the U.S. Army in World War II. He served in the 94th Infantry Division in the 302nd Regiment, 3rd Battalion - all part of Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army. In the European Campaign - including the "Battle of the Bulge"- he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and several other medals for bravery. His Battalion received the U.S. Presidential Citation for "extraordinary heroism in military operations against an armed enemy." Until recently he wrote a column, "The 302 Review", for the official publication of the 94th Infantry Division Association - "The Attack." After the War, while attending the U.W., he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve (R.O.T.C.) where he served as a 1st Lt. until his discharge in 1960. Upon his graduation from the U.W. Tal was employed by The National Association of Manufacturers and later by Pacific Northwest Bell for 30 years before his retirement in 1983. Tal served as U.W. Assistant Alumni Director under Curley Harris and later, as an avid Husky fan, volunteered for a number of years in recruiting for Husky Football Coach Jim Owens. He received the Gold Tyee W Award for his contributions to the athletic program. One of his most valued recruitments was that of Rose Bowl Quarterback Bob Schloredt. Tal was a past member of the Edmonds and Roche Harbor Yacht Clubs. He performed as pipe sergeant of the Portland Scottish Pipe Band for several Years. Tal is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Marlene, his daughter, Laurie Hansen-Petersen, granddaughters Sonya Hansen and Samantha Petersen and a cousin Donovan Jones and his family. Tal's life was filled with good times, good cheer and was rich with many interests and accomplishments. His charismatic personality and wonderful sense of humor, jokes and wit will sincerely be missed by his family and friends. At his request there will be no memorial service. A Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, June 7, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Harborside Restaurant, Harborside Room, 1200 Westlake Avenue North, Seattle, Washington, 98109. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle. Edward C. Kopp on 6/11/45. They moved to Seattle in December 1950. She is survived by three sons, two daughters, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One son precedes her in death. Will worked as a police detective with the Seattle Police Department for 20 years following that, he was in real estate sales before retiring. Will is preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1998 and his son Charles in 1963. He is survived by his son Bill (Donna) LaChapelle, of Highlands Ranch, CO.; sister Janet (Ray) Fox, of Shore line, WA.; grandchildren Kevin, Kristy and Will; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great- great-grandchild.
