Alta M. WESTOVER

Alta M. WESTOVER, 95, passed away quietly on May 24, 2002. She was born 10/10/1906 to Richard & Ida Rowe in Pilchuck, WA. She married Don Westover in 1948 where they started a Nursery specializing in Fuchsias and Begonias. They created a beautiful park setting to which people from all over the world came to enjoy. They created many new varieties of Fuchsias. Clippings were taken and shipped worldwide. They were lifelong members of the World Fuchsia Society and the Begonia Society. She is survived by her brother Richard Rowe, 90, a brother Bert Rowe 97 and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Purdy & Walter at Floral Hills in Lynnwood, WA. at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1st. (Obit dated 05/30/2002.)

John B. WHITTLE, Jr.

John B. WHITTLE, Jr., 89, of Everett passed away on May 22, 2002 in Bothell.
There will be a time of viewing held on Saturday May 25th from 9-5 at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday May 28th at 12pm at Floral Hills cemetery in Lynnwood and a memorial service will be held and Thursday May 30th at 1 pm at Everett Baptist Church in Everett. (Obit dated 05/26/2002.)

Archie E. WILCOX

Age 94, of Seattle, passed away on May 25, 2002. He was born in Black Hawk, South Dakota on April 24, 1908. Archie came to Seattle in 1941. He worked as a Carpenter for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Lillian E. Wilcox, daughter Joyce Christensen and husband Victor, of Oregon, sons Glen Wilcox and wife Linda, of Duvall, Brent Wilcox and wife Susan, Gary Shelton and wife Sharon, of Kirkland, grandchildren Alaynia, Carly, Safauna, Venessa, Ben, Kim, Patty, John, and great-grandchildren Halee and Brynnea. Archie is also survived by four nieces and a host of friends. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2002, 3 p.m. at Abbey View cemetery in Brier. Arrangements by Evergreen - Washelli Funeral Home. (Obit dated 05/29/2002.)

Charles H. WINDERS II

Charles H. WINDERS II, 87, passed away on May 20, 2002 at the Bessie Burton Nursing Facility in Seattle Washington. He was born on Sept. 10, 1914, the son of C.H. Winders, prominent Seattle attorney, and Anabel Winders Rose. He attended Moran School, Lakeside, and Whitman College. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He spent 40 years as a real estate broker, owner of Golden Rule Realty. He is survived by his wife, Helen Smith Winders of Springfield, Or. and daughters Catherine Gardanar, Seattle, WA, Caroline Johnson, Lacey, WA, and son, Charles Winders III of Novato, Ca., sister, Phyllis Ayers, Mercer Island, Wa., and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private family services were held on May 22 at Woodlawn cemetery in Lacey, Wa. (Obit dated 05/27/2002.)

Josephine WITTEK

Josephine WITTEK, 84, of Seattle, WA., passed away May 23rd at Hearthside of Issaquah. She was born in Liverpool England and was preceded in death by her husband Gunter. She is survived by brothers, Les Whamond of Ottawa, Canada and Richard Whamond of Liverpool, England; sisters, Millicent Stewart of Liverpool, England and Grace Long of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jo was a retired employee of Edmond's School District. She was a long time resident of Seattle and was very active in supporting the Seattle Opera. Jo worked very diligently with the Artists Aid Program. She was a member of the Magnolia Preview Group of the Seattle Opera Guild and was a devoted and sincere friend to the many singers who came to Seattle Opera. Jo has also been a chairman of Divas and Diamonds. She will be missed by all. At Josephine's request, there will be no memorial service held. In lieu of flowers, please send remembrances in her name to the Seattle Opera Fund, P.O. Box 9248, Seattle, 98109. (Obit dated 05/30/2002.)

Robert T. YONEMITSU

Age 81, passed away on May 24, 2002. A resident of Kent, Washington from 1960 through 1990 and then resided in Sedro Woolley, WA. Bob was born in Los Angeles, California to Francis and Alice Yonemitsu in April 4, 1921. In 1940, Bob graduated from Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles, CA. where he played baseball and basketball. At the beginning of World War II, he and his family were interned in Manzanar, California. He volunteered for military service in the U. S. Army Nisei 442 Regimental Combat Team, Company I and became a medic corpsman from 1942 through 1946. He saw military action in 1942 through 1943 in Anzio, Italy. On November 2, 1946, he married his beloved wife Sue Nishimori of Bainbridge, WA. in Chicago, Illinois. He resided in Chicago until 1957 when he moved to the state of Washington. He spent most of his career as a machinist and worked 35 years for Boeing at the Plant 2 in Seattle and Auburn Plant until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed athletic sports and outdoor activities. He taught his sons and daughters how to fish, hunt, the finer points of gardening, and how to appreciate the beauty of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. In his retirement years he spent time doting on his eight grandchildren, visiting friends, and family. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years Sue of Sedro Woolley, his brother Mike and his wife Dorothy of San Diego, Sister Lucy Takeuchi of Gardena, CA., and seven daughters and sons, Linda and her husband Jerry Mizokawa, David and his wife Mary Strunc, Kathy and her husband Eric Anderson, Teri and her husband Jim Chihara, Mike and his wife Charlene, Tony and his wife Nancy, and Francine all residing in the state of Washington. He has many nieces and nephews residing in Washington, California, Minnesota, and Colorado. A Memorial Service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary of Sedro Woolley, Washington located on 719 - Ferry Street at11 a.m. on May 31, 2002. Remembrances may be made to Northwest Group Home for the Deaf, 10209 - 20th N.E. Street, Seattle, WA. 98125. (Obit dated 05/28/2002.)

Alice I. YOUNG

Alice I. YOUNG, 80. passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday evening, May 20, 2002 after a several year struggle with stroke and other health challenges. She is now with the heavenly hosts, her husband, Phillip, mother, Minnie Crouch, two brothers and a sister. Alice was born September 16, 1921 in Butler, Missouri, later moving to Ft. Scott, Kansas, where she acquired a degree in education. With her beloved husband, Phillip D. Young and her daughters, she journeyed to Montana and ends their travels at Seattle. Alice's greatest enjoyments in life were working with children, travel, bowling, and playing rounds of bridge as a member of the Idlewyles Bridge Club, acquiring many trophies. Alice loved life and had a smile for all that she met. She knew no strangers. Upon meeting someone new, her comments were "Hello Love". Until her illness, she was a faithful member for 35 years at the Grace United Methodist Church in Seattle. One of her greatest regrets was that she was not able to go to worship God with her family and many friends. But she loved listening to Gospel music and carried God in her heart. Alice is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis Reynolds and Mary Jo Young; four granddaughters, Annette, Angela and Alicia Coleman and Anita Oglesby; five great grandchildren, Phillip, Donald and Dante' Oglesby, Ariana Eaton and Marshall Jones III; two brothers, Fred and Jesse Crouch; sister-in-law, Gracie Crouch, niece, Janis Anderson, along with many other nieces and nephews, and family and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Church Council of Greater Seattle, 4759 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA. 98105. Visitation will be offered Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday, May 29th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at BONNEY- WATSON, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. A Celebration of her Life and a Memorial Service will be offered Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 1 p.m. at BONNEY-WATSON Capitol Hill (Obit dated 05/26/2002.)

Age 65. Died July 26, 2002 in Seattle. Beloved wife of Gerald D. Abrahamson. Sister of Betty Lee and Janice Dorris. Sister-in-law of Phyllis (Donald) Laskowski. Also survived by numer ous nieces and nephews. preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Timms. Tanner McKenzie ABRAM

Age 14, born January 11, 1988, Redmond, WA., died July 23, 2002 in Seattle after a swimming accident on the Skykomish River. Beloved son of Debbie and Randy Abram, brother of Jobie and Renae Abram all of Woodinville, and Amy of Mukilteo, WA. Grandson of Frances Abram, Lynnwood, WA., Marlys and Robert James, Arlington, WA. and great grandson of Donna Johnson, Marysville, WA. Tanner enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, R.C. Cars and especially working to help his family and friends. Visitation Saturday, July 27, 2002, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Weller Funeral Home in Arlington, Monday, July 29, 2002 at 12 Noon at church. Beloved Parents & Grandparents SEATTLE - Services and burial for Jane & Don Adams, formerly of Tucson, AZ., were held at Lake View cemetery in Seattle, WA, on Wednesday, 24 July, 2002. Don died on January 27, 2000. He was born December 25, 1919 in Coin, Iowa. Upon graduation from high school in 1937 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. Don joined the U.S. Army in 1938 at Vancouver Barracks, Ft. Lewis, WA., and retired as a Major in 1957 at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. His career included World War II and assignments with the Seventh Infantry Regiment, 16th Signal Battalion, 158th Regimental Combat Team (Bushmasters), 82nd Airborne Corps, and XVIII Airborne Corps. His career continued upon retirement in industry in the field of Electronic Warfare. He was a member of Washington Lodge #9 in Eatontown NJ., and Sabbar Shrine, American Legion Post 58, and The Retired Officers Association in Tucson, AZ. Don's burial was with full military honors by the Honor Guard from Ft. Lewis, WA. Jane died on July 16, 2001. She was born February 17, 1921 in Seattle, WA. Upon graduation from Garfield High School, she attended the University of Washington and joined Phi Mu fraternity. She and Don were married November 12, 1941 in Moscow, Idaho. As a "military spouse" she endured all the excitement and hardships that came with military life, including establishing homes in many states and foreign countries. She was always active in her local community (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Red Cross, PTA, Officers Wives Club). In Tucson, Arizona she held many leadership positions in and was an active member of the Assistance League, Phi Mu fraternity, PEO, Oro Valley Bridge Club, TROA, and the Tucson Symphony. Don & Jane are survived by their daughter, Colonel Katie Garland, USAF Ret., of Lubbock, TX.; sons and daughters-in-law Donald K. and Sue Adams of Palm Desert, CA, Gregory W. and Trish Adarns of High Rolls NM; and their five grandchildren, Miles Adams, Langley & Lindsey Gilland, and Jayme & Ryan Adams. Family and many friends were in attendance, including the Veltola family. (Obit dated 07/30/2002.)
