Isobel Marguerite CHAPMAN
Born January 30, 1916. Died July 28, 2002. Isobel was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in a family of six children. She moved to Montreal during WWII, working in a book publishing company. In Montreal she met and married
Douglas George Chapman. Her husband was the center of her life and she and Doug were married
for 53 years. Isobel and Doug moved to the U.S. in 1947 when Doug entered the University of California at Berkeley to study for his Ph.D. They became U.S. citizens in 1954. Doug took a position at the University of Washington in 1949 and was with the University for most of his life. Doug and Isobel had three children, Patricia Levine, Sheila Chapman and Christine Chapman (Olympia). Isobel was active in her community, holding several positions with the Haller Lake Improvement Club, including editor of the club's newsletter. She wrote news articles about the community and complied them into several short books regarding history of the north end of Seattle, including the Northgate area, and the University of Washington. She also wrote of her trip to Spain to discover her family roots. She painted landscapes and found a great deal of enjoyment in her painting. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Isobel and Doug traveled extensively. They enjoyed the outdoors and camped, hiked, and bicycled for most of their lives. Her husband Doug died in 1996, from lingering injuries sustained in a bicycle accident. She cared for him devotedly during the final years of his life. Late in life, Isobel was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her three daughters, and three grandchildren, Aaron Levine, Willis Schueler and Shanta Schueler. A Memorial will be held at the Evergreen Washelli Chapel, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle, WA. at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2002. Clarence S. COOK
Age 74, passed away on July 23, 2002 in Seattle. Clarence was born on October 26, 1927 in Okanagon County, WA. to John and Naomi Cook. Clarence resided in Tukwila, WA. for most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandchildren and gardening, which he donated to local food banks. He retired from Kenworth (Paccar) after 40 years of service. Clarence is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene; children Bill (Loretta) Cook, Bev (Jim) Broughton, Bonny (Dave) Lusby, John (Wendy) Cook and Joe (Lori) Cook; four brothers, one sister, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkridge Care Center for the care and attention they gave to Clarence. A Memorial Service will be held over Labor Day weekend in Loomis, WA. Bobbie B. CRAIG
Bobbie B. Craig passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002 in Seattle, WA. Born January 16th, 1922 in Arkansas, raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, Bobbie lived a full and active life. Married to Harley Craig, she relocated to Seattle, Washington where she and Harley raised their two sons, Mike and Rick. She was active in the Lake City Elks, Eagles and Shoreline Senior Center. She loved to travel and those Seattle Mariners. She will be remembered by family and friends as a vibrant, active and assertive individual involved in neighborhood and community who lovingly cared for family and friends over the years. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Harley Craig in July of 1993. Bobbie is survived by her loving sons, Mike (Carol) and Rick (LoRayne); sister, Doris Jean Clark, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren all of Western Washington and nieces, nephews and cousins residing through-out the country. Age 45, passed away July 26, 2002. He was born October 18, 1956 in Seattle, and had lived here all of his life. Paulette Louise (Amato) DAY
passed away suddenly on July 29, 2002, at her home in Everett. Her husband, Steven Day, was at her side. Born in Inglewood, CA. on April 4, 1956, she was 46 years of age. Paulette graduated from high school and nursing school in Rockford, Illinois. She was employed by Virginia Mason Hospital as Utilization Coordinator. She enjoyed crafts, especially ceramics. Beloved by all her family and friends, Paulette was always there when you needed her and always with a smile and a loving heart. She is survived by her husband Steven Day; her sister Denise Showalter of Danville, CA.; three brothers James, Vincent and Paul (Jay) Amato, all of Orange County, CA.; father-in-law Herb Day; mother-in-law Marilyn Day; brothers-in-law Richard Day of Granite Falls, WA., Michael Day of Florida, and Woody Showalter of California; sisters-in-law Suzanne Day, Glynis Day, Wendy Day and Amanda Amato; nieces and nephews Kristi Showalter of Danville, CA., Genesis Day, Zachary Day, Mikayla Day, Natalie Day, Tiannah Day, Annessa Day of Monroe, WA., Paige Day, Joshua Day and Bethany Day of Arizona, Christopher Day and Chandler Day of Florida; and godchildren Cherie Truncer of Seattle, WA. and Jared Woods and Megan Woods of Arizona. Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Magdalena Amato, and a nephew, Anthony Showalter. Pedro De La Rosa was born February 10, 1910 to Luis and Apolonia (Invierno) De La Rosa, and passed away July 25, 2002. He was a resident of Bothell for 23 years, and a past member of the Filipino Community of Puget Sound. He enjoyed gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by sons, Francis (Lillian) De La Rosa of Puyallup, WA., Wilfred (Agnes) De La Rosa of Pacific, WA., Rodolfo (Paulita) De La Rosa of The Philippines; daughters, Juanita (Jim) Solquillo of Malat, Philippines, Margarita (Frank) Molina of Bothell, WA., Magdalena (Doug) Kuzmer-De La Rosa of Puyallup, WA., Emy (Gene) Pilapil of Pacific, WA., Carolina (Ariel) Alcantara of Sumner, WA., Emma (Manolita) Medrano of Santa Domingo, Philippines, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7/31, 8/1 and 8/2, 2 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Ave. in Puyallup. Janice (Proctor) DEVAN
After a very long and crippling illness, Janice died peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2002, at age 75. She is survived by her son and daughter in- law, Don and Jennifer Devan, of Lynnwoood, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband William Devan, and her only sibling, her sister, Joan Culp. Despite being severely handicapped by arthritis for over thirty years, Janice remained cheerful, ac tive and dedicated to her family and friends until the very end. Her great avocation was making Christmas ornaments of intricate de sign and surpassing beauty. Hundreds of these lovely mementos grace the Christmas trees of Janice's family and large circle of friends, reminding them of her gentle and generous life. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Wiggen & Sons Funeral Home, 2003 N.W. 57th St., Seattle, followed by a reception at the Hotel Edgewater on Pier 67, Seattle. Peggy Anne DIBBLE
Peggy Anne DIBBLE, 66, passed away on July 5, 2002 from a fast acting cancer in Seattle. Daughter of Leighton and Harriet Conn, she was born on March 25th 1936 in Bellaire, Kansas. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Keith, her daughter Christine Williams, her two sons Kevin and Mark Dibble, her mother Harriet, her brother William Conn and her four grandchildren, Isaac, Sarah-Margaret, Megan and Claire. A graduate of University of Colorado and Stanford University, she lived most of her life in the Midwest where she worked as a part-time Audiologist while raising her children. After Keith retired in 1999, they moved from Palatine, Illinois to Edmonds, Washington where Peggy was very active in planning their new home. An avid reader, she also loved to travel visiting almost all the states in the U.S. as well as five trips to Australia and New Zealand and trips to Ireland and Scotland. Beside her grandchildren, other interest included music, art, cooking, archeology, mystery novels, bridge and the TV show Jeopardy. A Memorial Service to Celebrate her Life will be held on August 3, 2002 at 4 p.m. at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel, 11111 Aurora Ave N. Seattle, Washington. A Reception will follow. Born January 8, 1911 in Sacramento, CA; died July 29, 2002 in Seattle. Susie was a ballet dancer with the Fancho-Marko Troupe in Sacramento, a bit player in the movies from 1934 to 1936, and did professional modeling in Sacramento and at Frederick & Nelson. She married
