JOAN O. JOHNS
JOAN O. JOHNS, 80, of Seattle, died July 27, 2002. She was born Joan L. Okland on October 21, 1921 in Everett, Washington. She graduated from Everett High School in 1937. She married
George Johns in 1943 in Discovery Park Chapel over looking Puget Sound. They moved to New York City where her son, Stephen was born. In 1952 Joan returned with Stephen and her mother, Eline Okland, to Seattle. Joan worked for the G.A.O. Office of the U.S. government until she retired in 1978. She then enjoyed a full career and social life managing family properties. Joan is survived by her son, Stephen Johns, as well as a gallery of very special friends who will all remember Joan by the sparkle in her eyes. Edith Virginia JOHNSON
Born in Chicago, IL March 23, 1921 to Eric and Emma Dalman and died July 29, 2002 in Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1987. Beloved sister of Marianne and her husband Karre of Norway; aunt of Siri of Oregon, Kari and Kris both of Norway. She is also survived by her many faithful and loyal friends. Edith was a graduate of the University of Washington with a BA in Swedish and a Masters in Library and Information Science. She worked for the University of Washington for 30 years. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and kind and gentle ways. Graveside Services will be announced later. Abraham Tomas JOSE, Sr.
Died July 25, 2002 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born March 16, 1918 in Paranaque, Philippines. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Felisa; daughter, Anita (deceased); sons, Jun (Carole), Oscar (Linda), Fred (deceased) (Luz), Rene (Rosemarie), Ed (Heidi), JoJo (Tess) and Henry (Joy); 20 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Abraham was a band leader, leading a traveling band all over the world. They played for many dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth when she visited India. He was a devoted family man and was the stronghold of the Jose clan. Visitation Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2002 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 28, 2002 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Acacia Funeral Home in Seattle, WA. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 29, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 1240 N.E. 127th, Seattle, WA. with Burial to follow at Holyrood cemetery. (Obit dated 07/28/2002.)
Florence Eleanor KAUTZMAN
Born November 23, 1908, died quietly on Tues day, July 23, 2002 of cancer. Born in Chicago, Ill. as Florence Andruskiewicz, along with her twin sister Phyllis. Her mother relocated with her twins to Washington State in 1910. There were two older sisters, Henrietta and Irene, and a brother, Walter. Her mother married
Jack Dunn around 1912 and they resided in Eastern Washington. Two other children were born, Richard and Ella. The twins were very talented in dressmaking and tailoring. Florence married
Michael Kautzman in 1930. Phyllis was born in 1935. They moved to Seattle in 1941. Michael worked as a machinist and Florence sewed parachutes and rain gear for the war effort. Marcia was born in 1944. They moved to Bellevue in the mid-60's and remained there. Florence worked as a tailor ist at J.C. Penney and Nordstrom until she was 78. Michael died in 1993. Florence enjoyed all social occasions, music, gardening and reading. She volunteered at Overlake Hospital. She belonged to the Emblem Club and the Ladies Eagles. She is survived by her twin sister Phyllis Brown of Yreka, CA, her daughters Phyllis Silver of Seattle, and Marcia Ator of Olympia, her grandson Mark Silver of Seattle, her granddaughters Suzanne Lawrence of Seattle and Teresa McInroy of Tacoma, her great granddaughter Emily Lawrence of San Antonio, Texas. A private memorial service is planned at a future date. Arthur F. Kelly, 88, of Burley, Washington, passed away on November 20, 2001.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 3 at 11 a.m. at Haven of Rest Chapel, Hwy. 16, Gig Harbor.

Joan Marie KENNEDY
Born in Seattle to Hilding & Signe Engstrom on 10/9/1932; died in Seattle on 7/18/2002, surrounded by her loving family. She attended Ballard High and graduated cum laud from Pacific Lutheran University in 1954. Joan married
Stephen Kennedy 5/24/1954, and taught elementary school in Seattle for 3 years and in Port Angeles for 25. She acted as a court-appointed special advocate for wards of the court in Clallam County. The Kennedys traveled to Tanzania 9 times to work with the Lutheran Secondary School and Hospital in the Arusha area. Survived by her husband, Steve, children, Kerry Phan, Erik Kennedy and Andrew Kennedy, sister, Judy Edinger, and brother, William Engstrom. Her ashes were interned in the memorial garden at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles on July 23. Memorials to The Tanzanian Connection at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Dorothy Anne KIELY
Of Seattle, Washington, died peacefully at Evergreen Corner just one week after her 95th birthday. The lovely lady was born in Butte, Montana on July 18th, 1908 to Anna Conway Kiely and Maurice J. Kiely. Dorothy and her siblings Margaret, Kathe rine, Maurice (Bud), and Arthur (Honie) all graduated from the University of Montana. Following college, Dorothy taught at Lom bard, Montana, after which she became the first Dean of Women at the Montana School of Mines. Later she taught at Butte Central High during which time she excelled at swimming, tennis and basketball...once again ahead of her times. Dorothy headed west with friends, settling in Seattle, where she became Deputy Director of the YWCA. She has been a long time member of St. Joseph's Parish on Capitol Hill where she lived for many years, after living some years in Madison Park. Dorothy is survived by nephews Steve Parker of Campbell, California, Kiely Parker of Boise, Idaho and Walter Parker of Minneapolis, Minnesota and their families. Memorials may be sent to Maryknoll Fathers, P.O. Box 302, Maryknoll, N.Y., St. Joseph's or charity of choice. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph's on Wednesday, July 31st at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception at the church. At a later date, a gathering will be held at her good friend, Roy Miller's north Capitol Hill home. (Obit dated 07/31/2002.)

Thomas Burton KINGSBURY
Tom Kingsbury, of Seattle, died July 26, 2002. He was 90 years old. Born in Seattle, he graduated from Lincoln High School. He married
Enid Ratti on September 7, 1941. Not only was he a partner in the Northwest Tile Company in Seattle, but also he was a member in University Rotary and a Shriner in the Nile Temple. He is survived by his wife, Enid Kingsbury, his sister, Grace Tickner, his daughters, Diane Dolwig and Gordon Brown and Barbara Fogle and William Fogle, and by his grandchildren, Wendy Dolwig, David Dolwig and Scott Fogle. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A Remembrance honoring his life will be held in his home on Tuesday, July 30th at 2 p.m. (Obit dated 07/28/2002.)
