Bernice VILLAFLOR
Bernice Almarth Villaflor, 78, passed away on July 31, 2002. She was born in Tacoma, WA, but lived all her adult life in Seattle. Bernice had several nicknames: Bernie, Benny, Bea, Bonzo and most favorite, 'Tutu'(meaning grandmother.) She, and her husband, Donald (Danny) were lifelong members of the Wakinikona Hawaiian Club. Known for her fine talents as an artist, she enjoyed being creative. Painting landscapes, stills, portraits, and ceramic figurines were among her favorite past times. She won several awards for her outstanding photography. Bea was an exquisite seamstress and created several porcelain dolls dressed in authentic costume. She enjoyed making all types of crafts for her children and grandchildren. It was often said that 'Tutu could fix anything'. Bernice was preceded in death by her son William Richard Olson and great-grandson Kaden Andrew Shearer. Her husband, Donald Kuualoha Villaflor, survives her, as does her sister: Elizabeth Alyne (Elmer C.) Wigger, son: Robert Lewis (& Linda) Olson, daughter: Jo Anne Elizabeth (& William) Hickey, Diana (Olson) Goben and stepdaughter Danielle Piilani Villaflor. To her delight she had 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Tutu shall be greatly missed and cherished in memory by all that knew and loved her. Friends are invited by the family to a celebration of her life, August 3 at her home in Seattle.

Died July 29, 2002. Born November 3, 1939. 28-year employee of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Survived by wife Sandy; children: Kirk (Angela) Walden, Kristi (Sirilo) Soria, Todd (Holli) Walden and five grandchildren. Also parents: Roy & Thelma Walden and brother James (Linda) Walden. Anne WEISS
Anne WEISS, 91, of Santa Barbara, CA., formally of Mercer Island, WA., passed away on July 20, 2002. Anne was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her sons Paul Weiss, and his wife Beverly of Mercer Island, WA. and Joseph Weiss and his wife Kristine of Sale, OR. She is also survived by her sister Sylvia Axelrod. Anne was the beloved grandmother to Debby Nerpel, Robin Weiss, DeeAnn Widby and Erin Weiss. She was a great grandmother to Samantha Nerpel and Katelyn Widby. Born in Brody, Austria, she came to America at nine years of age and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. Anne married
the late David Weiss on December 7, 1941, in N.Y., where they made their home and raised their family. She will always be known for her courage, strength and gentle spirit. Her precious memory will be a blessing to all who knew her. (Obit dated 07/28/2002.)
Richard (Dick) Suil WHITAKER
Born June 15, 1919, entered into eternal rest July 8, 2002. Richard was born to Nancy and Robert Whitaker in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. He proudly served his country during World War II and again during the Korean War as a United States Marine retiring after thirty years service. He was employed by the National Bank of Commerce (now Bank of America) for thirty years. Richard was a Pilgrim in the Loyal Order of the Moose and a Mason. Richard is survived by, Evelyn, his loving wife of 46 years. Two sons: David Whitaker (Orlando, FL), Mark Whitaker (Seattle). Four daughters: Kathleen Kinley (Port McNeil, BC), Claudia Whitaker-Greenway (Seattle), Carol Dixon (Charleston, SC) and Mary Lint (Whidbey Island, WA), eight grandchildren and lifelong, family friend Art Bryant. Three brothers and two sisters preceded Mr. Whitaker in death. Memorial Services will be held: Saturday, August 3rd, 11 a.m. at Lake City Christian Church, 1933 N.E. 125th, Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the University Of Washington Cancer Research Center or the Lake City Christian Church Building Fund. (Obit dated 07/30/2002.)
Luella Evelyn WHITE
Formerly Sr. M. Jude, O.P. Luella Evelyn White was born to Florence Boileau and Thomas Carlisle White May 14, 1929, in San Francisco, California, a city she dearly loved. There she spent her childhood and received her education. As a Dominican sister, she taught grade school. In 1965, she earned a master's degree in library science from the University of Washington. After leaving the convent she was employed as a school librarian in Auburn and Kent School Districts retiring from Meridian Junior High School in 1991. In her career as an educator, Luella was passionate about seeing each child as an individual and cared deeply for those children who were nonconformists. She was equally passionate about women's rights. Although her immediate family has predeceased her, she leaves behind many friends. There will be a gathering of friends to celebrate her life, Wednesday, July 31, 6:30 p.m. Mass, 7 p.m. sharing at St. Stephen the Martyr Church, 13055 SE 192nd St., Renton, Washington, 98058; 1-253-631-1940. James Terrance WITT
Greybull, WY. Former Seattle, Washington resident, now living in Greybull, Wyoming, James Terrance Witt, age 55, passed away early in the morning on Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in a trucking accident in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. James Terrance Witt was born on April 8, 1947 in Seattle, Washington, the son of Albert and Julia (Harold) Witt, Sr. He received his schooling in Seattle. He joined the military right after high school and served in the Viewnam Conflict in the U.S. Army from May 13, 1964 until April 30, 1970, when he was honorably discharged. He married
Mari D. Mitchell on November 28, 1968 in Kennewick, Washington. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Four years ago he and Mari moved to Greybull, Wyoming to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. At the time of his death he was employed by Werner Enterprise as a truck driver. James is preceded in death by his father, Albert Witt, Sr. and his mother, Julia Witt. He is survived by his wife, Mari Witt of Greybull Wyoming; two daughters, Jill (Ryan) Powers of Greybull, Wyoming and Jenifer (Joshua) Hendrickson of Greybull, Wyoming; four grandchildren; six siblings, Albert Witt of Seattle, Washington, Tom Witt of Seattle, Washington, Charlotte Morales of Ontario, California, Kathleen Reddeman of Seattle, Washington, Ed Witt of Seattle, Washington, and Monica Witt of Portland, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2002, 10 a.m. at the Hillside cemetery in Greybull, Wyoming with full military rites conducted by the V.F. W. Born in Seattle on September 2, 1928 and passed away on July 30 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Norma, two daughters, Traci Jay and Wendy Wong and granddaughter, Kelly Jay. Survivors also include sisters, Daisy Owyang of Oakland, CA., Mary Woo (Jerry) and brothers, Robert (Ida) Wong, Phillip (Sandra) Wong and Albert Wong as well as many nieces and nephews. Kathleen Renshaw WOODSON, 84, resident of Burlington, Washington, died peacefully at home on July 26, 2002. She was born March 2, 1918 in Oswego, Kansas to Gladys and Leo N. Roach. She graduated from Pasadena Community College and worked as a legal secretary during her life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Valera Beebe, brother, Harold L. Roach, and first husband, Charles Renshaw. Kathleen is survived by her husband Ed Woodson of Burlington; brother, Leo N. Roach, Jr.; daughters: Charleen Renshaw Relyea, Burlington, Maureen Renshaw Jenner, Sun Valley, ID, and Karen Renshaw Joslin, Bellevue; stepson Mike Wood son, Seattle, stepdaughter Jackie Ferrill, Seattle; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Her family remembers Kathleen as a kind, happy, energetic and loving person living an active life of sailing, golf and tennis. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, August 1st at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Park Lodge in Mt. Vernon, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to your favorite charity. Heidi (Wheaton) ZUMEK
Age 35, died July 21, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Chris, 6-month old son Tyler, mother Linda Silver, father Robert Wheaton (Shann), sister Cheri Jennings (Terey), nieces Lauren and Dana Jennings, and many loving in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins. All of her family, friends and co-workers will remember her as one of the sweetest persons they knew. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
