Carl M. Martin
Renton resident Carl Max Martin died Aug. 7, 2000, in Renton. He was 65.
Born Nov. 4, 1934, in Renton, he graduated from Renton High School in 1953 and married
Patricia Zinter on Sept. 2, 1972. He was a lifetime resident of Renton.
Mr. Martin was a salesman and a member of Auburn Elks, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Teamsters Local 174 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed elk and deer hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Renton; sons Craig and Andy Martin, both of Renton, Brian Balsley of Auburn and Jeff Martin of Puyallup; a daughter, Tami Zeigler, of Tacoma; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton followed immediately by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
Judy N. West
Judy Nadine West died Aug. 7, 2000, at her home in Auburn. She was 59.
Born July 31, 1941, in Butte, Mont., she graduated from Ballard High School and married
Stuart J. West on Aug. 14, 1965, at the University Congregational Church in Seattle. She lived in the South County area most of her life.
Mrs. West worked at Nordstrom as a secretary. She also worked at Mid Mountain Construction, Far West Electronics, Grange Insurance in Seattle and D. K. McDonald Insurance in Seattle. She enjoyed helping people and crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart, of Auburn; a son, Paul, of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters Tammie York and Julie West, both of Federal Way; brothers Jack Hayes of Shoreline and Jerry Hayes of Lynnwood; sisters Joyce Pattersen of Lynnwood and Janice Johanesen of Anderson Island; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn. Inurnment will be at Lakeview cemetery in Seattle.

Eileen B. Marshall
Eileen Bernice Marshall died Aug. 3, 2000, at her home in Enumclaw. She was 79.
Born Oct. 15, 1920, in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, she married
Kenneth Marshall on Oct. 9, 1950, in Reno, Nev. She lived in Renton before moving to Enumclaw.
She worked as an operator at Tele Communications.
Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1982. She is survived by her daughters Karen Johansen of Lincoln City, Ore., and Kay Forsythe of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; a brother, Percy Harvey, of Gull Lake; sisters Myrtle Nesbitt and Eleanor Jensen both of Gull Lake; and two grandchildren.
No local service will be held.

Rica Hansen
Rica Hansen of Renton died Aug. 8, 2000, in Des Moines. She was 94.
Born Aug. 28, 1905, in the Kennydale area of Renton, she was a lifetime resident of South County.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for 48 years, a Past Worthy Matron Neiska in 1962 and a member of the Fred Hancock American Legion Post 19 auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Lester, of Renton; son, James, of Aptos, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Faull-Stokes Mortuary in Renton. Burial will be at Mount Olivet cemetery.
Melvin G. Swanson
Melvin G. Swanson of Renton died Aug. 6, 2000, at Valley Medical Center in Renton. He was 78.
Born Feb. 13, 1922, in Hobart, he graduated from Tahoma High School in 1940 and married
Ilene Malmassari on May 28, 1948, in Seattle. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and as a radio operator in the Merchant Marine during the Korean War. He lived in Renton for 38 years.
Mr. Swanson was a truck driver for Graystone in Seattle, Kent and Bellevue. He was a past commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars Albert-Larson Post 3436 in Issaquah.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Swanson, in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Swanson of Renton; son Jim Swanson of Issaquah; daughter Carol Benn of Spanaway; and five grandsons.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Maple Valley-Hobart cemetery in Maple Valley.

Hailey Ann Griffin of Puyallup died Aug. 4, 2000, in Federal Way.
She was born Aug. 4, 2000, in Federal Way.
She is survived by her parents, Frank and Shelly Griffin of Puyallup; brother Frankie Griffin of Puyallup; grandparents Beal and Jan Rockey of Auburn and Frank and Judy Griffin of Auburn; great-grandparents Ron and Verna Bendorf of Sumner and great-grandmother Blanche Griffin of Auburn.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be at Mountain View cemetery in Auburn.

Margaret C. E. Bullock
Margaret 'Maggie' Cora Elizabeth Bullock of Kent died Aug. 7, 2000, at Valley Medical Center in Renton. She was 74.
Born April 1, 1926, in Johnstone, Ill., she married
John C. Bullock on April 10, 1971, and moved to the South County area in 1952 from Bremerton.
Mrs. Bullock retired in 1988 after 15 years as a newspaper carrier at the South County Journal. She attended Friends Church in Kent.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert B. Airington, in 1986. She is survived by her husband, John Bullock of Kent; sons James B. Airington of Sequim, Bill Airington of Kent and John C. Airington of Aberdeen; stepson Lawrence Bullock of Bowling Green, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today at Edline-Yahn Funeral Chapel in Kent. A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Friends Church in Kent. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.
Louis G. Krauer
Louis G. Krauer of Kent died Aug. 5, 2000, in Salinas, Calif. He was 93.
Born Feb. 22, 1907, in Lucerne, Switzerland, he served in the Army during World War II and moved to Kent from South Bend in 1924.
Mr. Krauer retired in 1971 after 20 years of service as a caretaker/sexton at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent. He was a member of the Titusville Oddfellows Lodge in Kent and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laveta Krauer, in 1997. He is survived by his stepson, Dallas Mooney of Stockton, Calif.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.

Patricia M. LaFrance
Patricia M. LaFrance of Auburn died Aug. 5, 2000, at Hallmark Manor in Federal Way. She was 89.
Born Oct. 27, 1910, in Seattle, she graduated from Port Townsend High School. She was a longtime resident of Auburn.
She went to school in Pullman and Port Townsend, and graduated from Port Townsend High School. She retired at the age of 60 from her work at General Services Administration in Auburn and Alaska Communication Systems in Seattle. She was a local artist and rock hound.
She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie LaFrance of Federal Way and Joyce Green of Tacoma; sister Veda Lee of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn.
David A. Browning
David Allan Browning of Kent died Aug. 4, 2000, in Seattle. He was 37.
Born April 24, 1963, in Burien, he graduated from Renton High School in 1981 and was a lifetime resident of the South County area.
Mr. Browning was a lighting salesman at SeaTac Lighting. He also worked at Sears Roebuck and Co., The Boeing Co. and Pacific Lighting. He enjoyed golfing and boating.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Debbie Browning of Kent; son Carter Browning of Kent; daughter Jordan Browning of Kent; mother Shirley Browning of Kent; and sisters Linda Espe and Pam Browning, both of Kent.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kent United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.

Willie L. Worley
Willie Lee Worley of Renton died Aug. 4, 2000, in Renton. She was 87.
Born July 28, 1913, in Hoxie, Ariz., she was a homemaker and enjoyed talking to people, crafts, quilting, sewing and traveling. She had been a member of the Ladies League of the Salvation Army. She lived in Renton for 21 years.
Mrs. Worley was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Worley, in 1983; son William Worley in 2000; and daughter Elizabeth Worley in 1937. She is survived by her daughters, Nola Rodgers of Cle Elum and Nadine Cooper of Slidell, La.; brother John Lindley of Bono, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no service.
