Lucille R. Johnson
Lucille R. Johnson of Kent died Sept. 2, 2001, in Burien. She was 80.
Born March 2, 1921, in Bellingham, Mrs. Johnson graduated from Kent High School in 1939 and lived in South King County for 65 years.
Mrs. Johnson retired in 1984, after 36 years as a telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and White River Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Johnson on Oct. 4, 1998. She is survived by her son, Gary Johnson of Seattle; daughter Sally Cole of Port Orchard; sister Anna Wenkert of LaJolla, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Edline-Yahn Funeral Chapel in Kent.

Alan F. Trulson
Alan F. Trulson died Sept. 6, 2001, in Hobart, after an eight-year battle with cancer. He was 58.
Born April 1, 1943, in Omaha, Neb., Mr. Trulson lived in South King County for 45 years. He married
Toni Jean Junevitch on Sept. 7, 1964, in Renton.
Mr. Trulson was a mechanic for 15 years at Pacific Coast & Coal in Black Diamond. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. He enjoyed camping, going to Reno, and spending time at the ocean.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Trulson in 1977. Mr. Trulson is survived by his wife, Toni Jean Trulson; daughters Debra Tvedt of Enumclaw, Renee Rogers of Kent, and Terri Percival of Olalla; father Edmund Trulson of Port Townsend; brothers Rodney Trulson of Hobart, and Eddie Trulson of Fernley, Nev.; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hobart Valley cemetery. A reception will follow at the family home.

James Wade Smith
James 'Cowboy' Wade Smith died Sept. 1, 2001, in Renton. He was 61.
Born Jan. 29, 1940, in Gause, Texas, Mr. Smith lived in Renton for 10 years. He retired in 1999 after working as a laborer for Anthony's Construction for 10 years.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Laborers Union Local No. 440 for 35 years and the Renton Eagles Post No. 1722. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, singing, listening to country music, camping, playing bingo, and going to casinos.
He is survived by his son, Aaron Smith of Spokane; daughters Kelli Smith of Renton and Denise Hackett of Pasadena, Calif.; brother Robert Smith of San Diego, Calif.; sister Elizabeth Morgan of Bryan, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be a private cremation.

James D. Register
James Davis Register died Sept. 14, 2001, in Renton. He was 75.
Born March 20, 1926, in Wilmington, N.C., Mr. Register lived in South King County for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1970. In 1975, Mr. Register married
Ella 'Rose' Hays in Burien.
Mr. Register was a member of Fleet Reserve Association, Kent Eagles No. 362, and American Legion Post No. 15 in Kent. He enjoyed fishing, camping, flowers and gardening.
Mr. Register is survived by his wife, Ella Register of Kent; son Michael Register of West Seattle; step-sons Jerry Hays of Kent and Randy Hays of Pacific; step-daughter Sandy Archer of Maplevale, Ark.; brother Walter Register of Neffs, Penn.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent.
A funeral service will be held at 11 p.m. Wednesday at Marlatt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's cemetery in Kent.

Monte Salisbury
Monte Salisbury died Sept. 13, 2001, in Auburn. He was 73.
Born July 2, 1928, in Mount Harris, Colo., Mr. Salisbury lived in South King County for 65 years.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Salisbury; sons Monte Salisbury, Scott Salisbury, Grant Salisbury and Chad Salisbury; daughters Cathy Wickizer and Kim Esp; brothers Tom Salisbury and Claude Salisbury; sisters Gwen Rice and Joyce Close; and 10 grandchildren.
There will be a private service for the family.

Ralph Edgar Walker
Ralph Edgar Walker of Renton died Sept. 12, 2001, in Bellevue, He was 86.
Born Dec. 21, 1914, in Ontario, Ore., he married
Betty Mae Schmidt on Nov. 30, 1946, and served in the Army Air Force. He lived in the Renton area for 55 years.
Mr. Walker retired in 1976 as a truck driver with the Teamsters union. He was a member of the Renton VFW and Teamsters Local 174. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood crafting and hunting.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Betty Mae Walker of Renton; son James Edward Walker of Auburn; daughters Martha Jean Denton of Carnation, Winnifred Ann Roice of Lacey and Susan Lee Knisley of Rathdrum, Idaho; sister Muriel Caldwell of Ontario, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.

Raymond C. Utterback
Raymond C. Utterback of Auburn died Sept. 10, 2001, in Tacoma. He was 82.
Born Oct. 29, 1918, in Hanford, Calif., he married
Mary Lecorneau in 1942 and served in the Army during World War II. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1959 with a degree in education and lived in the South County area since 1968.
Mr. Utterback retired in 1977 as an elementary school teacher in Federal Way, where he taught fifth and sixth grade. He was a member of Grace Church in Federal Way and directed many church choirs. He played the clarinet, tenor saxophone and piano.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Utterback of Auburn; sons Raymond Utterback of Manteca, Calif., and Randall Utterback of Bothell; daughter Tami Ellingson of Auburn; brothers Robert Utterback of Iowa and James Utterback of Calif.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Yahn & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Irene Theresa Langer
Irene Theresa Langer of Tukwila died of a heart attack Sept. 11, 2001, in Kirkland. She was 76.
Born Nov. 15, 1924, in Devils Lake, N.D., she married
Joseph Langer at Fort Totten, N.D.
Mrs. Langer retired from The Boeing Co. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Tukwila and enjoyed fishing, camping and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Langer; son John Langer; daughters Carol Houlihan, Colleen Goodbear and Patricia Koth; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Tukwila.

Dorothy Ruth Carey-Owens
Dorothy Ruth Carey-Owens of Renton died Sept. 13, 2001, in Renton. She was 85.
Born April 19, 1916, in Seattle, she attended school in Hobart and played basketball in high school. She was a lifetime resident of the Renton area.
She retired in 1978 as a bookkeeper for Kelly Clark Food Brokerage. For a time, she was a part owner of the Kent Bowl. She was a member of the Renton Senior Center and enjoyed playing bridge and golf, bowling, sewing and flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Owens in 1964. She is survived by her son, Charles Owens of Renton; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
Memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice.

Margaret Miller
Margaret Deborah 'Debbe' Miller of Skyway died Sept. 11, 2001, in Seattle. She was 52.
Born Jan. 23, 1949, in Bozeman, Mont., she graduated from Renton High School in 1967, then from Green River Community College. She married
Robert Miller on Aug. 19, 1967, in Skyway. She lived in the Renton/Skyway area since 1954.
Mrs. Miller worked as a bookkeeper for 10 years. She enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, sewing, camping and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Miller of Skyway; daughter Noelle Gillett of Gaithersburg, Md., and Michelle Miller of Eatonville; foster daughter Angie Bailey of Oak Harbor; brother Melford Rae of North Bend; and five grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held.

Elmer R. Dodge
Elmer R. Dodge of Renton died Sept. 13, 2001, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. He was 82.
Born March 29, 1919, in Seattle, he served in the Army in the Pacific Theater from 1940 to 1943. He married
Gwen Stephens on July 14, 1946, in Renton and was a resident of Renton for six years.
Mr. Dodge retired in 1977 after more than 20 years of service as a truck driver at Acme Fast Freight.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Dodge of Renton; daughter Debbie Dodge of North Bend; and two grandchildren.
At his request, a private service will be held.
