Barbara M. Wilson
Barbara Maye Wilson died of heart complications Sept. 22, 2001, at her home in Kent. She was 70.
She was born Sept. 3, 1931, in Alamosa, Colo. Mrs. Wilson served at the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station in California for 19 years. She moved to Kent in 1985.
Mrs. Wilson enjoyed world travel and arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Perry; mother, Blanche Perry; sister, Myrna Perry, and daughter, Cynthia Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mose Wilson of Kent; son, Craig Wilson of Puyallup; daughters, Pamela Betancourt of Covington and Denise Wilson of Kent; brother, Johnny Perry and sister, Rhonda Perry, both of Valley, Ala.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent. Burial will follow at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.
Marian L. Thomson
Marian Louise (Duff) Thomson of Skyway died Sept. 11, 2001, in Renton. She was 93.
Born Jan. 12, 1908, in Renton, she graduated from Renton High School in 1925 and from the University of Washington in 1929. She taught home economics and seventh grade in the Mukilteo School District for three years. She married
John Thomson on June 30, 1932, and was a longtime resident of the South County area.
Mrs. Thomson was a home tutor for the Renton School District from 1934 to 1980, when she retired. She was a member of Seattle First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Renton Child Welfare League. For many years, she was leader of the Renton Girl Reserves. She was involved in her church music program and enjoyed oil painting, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling to Ireland.
Mrs. Thomson was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 1, 1974. She is survived by her son, Robert Thomson of Soap Lake; daughter, Jane Foster of Renton; and a grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
Memorials may be made to Seattle First Baptist Church, or the Philanthropic Education Organization education fund.
Ruby D. Kuhn
Ruby Delores Kuhn of Kent died Sept. 22, 2001, at Gig Harbor Manor. She was 81.
Born July 1, 1920, in Cando, N.D., Mrs. Kuhn lived in Kent for 44 years.
Mrs. Kuhn, a homemaker, was a member of Kent Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hiking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Kuhn; son, John R. Kuhn; daughter, Janice Bowman; and sister, Helen Baker. She is survived by her son, Don Kuhn of Grandview; daughters, Della Robinson of Gig Harbor and Sherry Grant of Maple Valley; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. today at Edline-Yahn Funeral Chapel in Kent.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Gerald L. Banks
Gerald Lloyd Banks of Covington died Sept. 23, 2001, in Covington. He was 44.
He was born June 1, 1957, in Aitkin, Minn.. He married
Karla Oliver on Dec. 23, 1985, in Auburn and had lived in the South County area for 41 years.
Mr. Banks was a machine parts finisher for The Boeing Co. at the Auburn plant for 18 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and fishing and camping in the mountains.
Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Banks. He is survived by his wife, Karla Banks of Covington; son, Kerry Banks of Tacoma; daughters, Tina Van Matre of Kent, Shirley Radoievici of Colorado, and Tonya Banks and Anna Banks, both of Covington; father, Jerry Banks of Concrete; brother, Robert Banks of Tacoma; sister, Kim Firestone of Tukwila; grandmother, Florence Workman of Aitkin, Minn.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent.
Betty Jane Rodgers
Betty Jane Rodgers of Renton died Sept. 25, 2001, in Renton. She was 79.
Born July 12, 1922, in Olympia, she had lived in the South County area for 60 years.
Mrs. Rodgers worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Issaquah Elks Climbing Club and a member of two bowling leagues at Roxbury Lanes in Seattle. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, bowling and cats.
She is survived by her husband, J. Mike Rodgers of Renton; son, Gary Mattson of Woodinville; stepdaughter, Melody Hansen of Wasilla, Alaska; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton. Inurnment will be at Riverton Crest cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bryan Gene Cook
Bryan Gene Cook of Renton died Sept. 25, 2001, in Renton. He was 51.
Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Mesa, Ariz., he graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1967 and attended Green River Community College. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1974 with a sociology degree. He served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. He married
Julie Wood on Nov. 7,1992in Auburn and lived in the Renton for the last three years.
He worked as an account manager at RBC Bearing Co. for two years. He also worked at the Boeing Co. for 20 years, and Giddens in Everett for a year. He was a member of the Duck Golf Association and secretary of the Martini Club, an investment group. He enjoyed motorcycles, playing golf, and international travel.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Julie A. Cook of Renton; son, Matthew B. Cook of Bellingham; daughter, Amy E. Cook of Sterling, Va.; brothers, Richard Cook of Coleman, Ala., Robert Cook of Whidbey Island and Lynn Cook of Tacoma; and sister, Jean Henning of Puyallup.
Visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton will be today from noon to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church in Covington.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross.
June C. Botting
June Carol Botting of Renton died Sept. 24, 2001, at her daughter's home in Renton. She was 71.
Born Aug. 5, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., she graduated from Lincoln High School in Michigan in 1948. She lived in Renton for six months.
A homemaker, she enjoyed camping, fishing, board games and old movies.
She is survived by her son, Mark Botting of Boise, Idaho; daughters, Janie Kent of Renton and Marsha Marazas of Michigan; brother, Ronald Schoeberlein of Florida; father and stepmother, Vern and Eleanor Schoeberlein of Florida; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Private services will be held.

Lillian Alexine 'Billie' McDaniel
Lillian Alexine 'Billie' McDaniel of Auburn died in an automobile accident Sept. 23, 2001, in Klamath Falls, Ore. She was 74.
Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Portland, Ore., she married
Harold McDaniel on May 27, 1950, and lived in the South County area for 66 years.
Mrs. McDaniel was a retired surgical nurse at Auburn Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Auburn, the Philanthropic Education Organization, the Cyclamen Chapter of Eastern Star and the Frank D. Merritt Guild of Children's Hospital.
Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her husband, Harold McDaniel, on May 18, 2001.
She is survived by her son, Bruce McDaniel of Federal Way; daughter Carole Alexander of Auburn; brothers Malcom McDonald of Bowen Island, B.C. and Jim McDonald of Coquitlam, B.C.; sisters Gert Phillips of Vernon, B.C., Lois Crawford of Auburn and Phyllis Hayward of Maple Ridge, B.C.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for a graveside service at Mountain View cemetery in Auburn.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Auburn.

Evelyn M. Kerkes
Evelyn May Kerkes of Auburn died Sept. 23, 2001, in Auburn. She was 78.
Born Nov. 3, 1922, in Weed, Calif., Mrs. Kerkes lived in the South County area for 51 years.
Mrs. Kerkes was a bookkeeper and member of White River Presbyterian Church in Auburn. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leo Kerkes of Auburn; daughters Dana Dowd of Granite Falls and Susan Polenske of Seattle; sisters Eleanor Frank and Pauline Tull, both of Chico, and Helen Baker of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at White River Presbyterian Church in Auburn. Inurnment will be held at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Martha L. Murray
Martha L. Murray of Puyallup died Sept. 24, 2001, in Puyallup. She was 85.
Born Oct. 8, 1915, in Kenmare, N.D., Mrs. Murray lived in Kent for five years before moving to Puyallup a year and a half ago. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Murray. She is survived by her son, Dennis Murray of Camano Island; daughter Bergetta Wells of Fife; brother Robert Kolbo of Zumbrola, Minn.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. today at All Saints Catholic Church in Puyallup.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holyrood Catholic cemetery in Seattle.
