Charles Knauer
Charles Knauer of Auburn died Sept. 27, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Seattle. He was 71.
Born May 26, 1930, in Kansas City, Kan., he retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service and lived in Auburn for 22 years.
Mr. Knauer retired in 1993, after 15 years of service with The Boeing Co. He enjoyed planes, cars and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen Knauer of Auburn; son Erik Knauer of Seattle; and sister Charlene Nesbitt of Diamond Bar, Calif.
No services were held.

Lois Evangiline Hansen
Lois Evangiline Hansen of Des Moines died Sept. 29, 2001, in Des Moines. She was 100.
Born March 18, 1901, in Sioux City, Iowa, she lived in the South County area for 72 years.
A homemaker, she enjoyed weaving and playing the organ and the piano. She was a member of Ark Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Seattle.
Mrs. Hansen was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Hansen in 1990. She is survived by her nieces, Virginia Schepper of Des Moines, Laura Guinn and Margaret LaBolle, both of Kent and Mary Kryger of California.
A family service will be held. Inurnment was at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.

Alfred C. Grubb
Alfred 'Al' C. Grubb of Kent died Sept. 25, 2001, in Renton. He was 74.
Born Aug. 27, 1927, in Halfway, Ore., he served in the Navy from 1944 to 1945. He married
Betty Arnold June 8, 1956, in Albany, Ore. He lived in Kent for three years.
Mr. Grubb worked as an educator with the Oregon Department of Education. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the Albany Elks Lodge 359 for 45 years and the Lions Club. He enjoyed photography and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Grubb of Kent; sons George Grubb of San Ramon, Calif., and Jay Grubb of Kent; daughter Barbara Snodgrass of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.
Memorials may be made to Boys and Girls Club of America.

Gerald Lloyd Wilson
The Rev. Gerald Lloyd Wilson of Burien died Sept. 24, 2001, at Valley Medical Center in Renton. He was 81.
Born April 4, 1920, in Drums, Pa., he graduated from Bucknell University and Boston University School of Theology. He lived in the South County area for three years.
He retired in 1986, after 34 years of service as the director of Church World Service, having worked in Iowa, South Dakota and Indiana.
He is survived by his sons, Gerald Wilson of Sacramento, Calif., and Jonathan Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters Ariel Judge of Burien, Pamela McVey of Indianapolis, Ind., and Susan Farkas of Cummings, Ga.; brother Charles Wilson of Allenstown, Pa.; sister Ethel Kirschner of Drums, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Drums, Pa.

Donald Wayne Morgan
Donald Wayne Morgan of Auburn died Sept. 30, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. He was 62.
Born March 30, 1939, in Coquille, Ore., he served in the Navy and married
Charline Pettelle May 19, 1991. He lived in the South County area for 15 years.
Mr. Morgan worked as a truck driver at DeVries Moving & Storage in Auburn and previously at Atlas Van Lines. He collected antique toy cars and enjoyed driving his truck.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Charline Morgan of Auburn; sons Montgomery Morgan of Lacey and Wayne Morgan of Watsonville, Calif.; daughter Debra Lyman of Boulder Creek, Calif.; stepsons Jeff Hahn of SeaTac and Scott Elam of Lakewood; stepdaughters Lisa Willis of Maple Valley and Andrea Mortenson of Tacoma; sister Genny Lacy of Obetz, Ohio; and 21 grandchildren.
A private family memorial will be held. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Constance Green
Constance Green of Auburn died Oct. 2, 2001, in Auburn. She was 71.
She was born April 19, 1930, in Ashland, Ore.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald; four children; and five grandchildren.

John Francis Stangle
John Francis Stangle of Covington died Oct. 8, 2001, in Covington. He was 71.
Born May 26, 1930, in Creston, S.D., Mr. Stangle served in the Air Force for 21 years, retiring in 1969. He lived in the South County area since 1969.
Mr. Stangle worked for the state Department of Licensing, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed antique cars and flying.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Stangle of Covington; sons John Stangle Jr. of Enterprise, Ala., and Mike Stangle of San Diego, Calif.; daughter Julie Stangle of Seattle; brothers Sonny Stangle, Leo Stangle and Tom Stangle, all of South Dakota; sister Mary Ann Voyles of Wall, S.D.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by burial at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.
Joe Shabaz
Joe Shabaz of Auburn died Oct. 9, 2001, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. He was 79.
Born Dec. 6, 1921, in Chicago, Mr. Shabaz served in the Army's 4th Armored Division in Europe during World War II.
In recent years, Mr. Shabaz was a steward of racing for the Washington Horse Racing Commission. He also had worked as a business agent for the Bartender's Union for many years and served as sergeant-at-arms for the state Senate.
Mr. Shabaz was very active in the thoroughbred racing industry and was past president of the Washington Horse Breeders Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Shabaz, in September 2000. He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Babal and Helen Johanan, both of Chicago.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. today at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn. A funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.
Memorials may be made to the University of Washington Medical Center.
John H. Sorg
John Husebye Sorg of Renton died Aug. 23, 2001, in Renton. He was 82.
Born Nov. 15, 1918, in Glendive, Mont., Mr. Sorg served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. In 1950, he graduated with a business degree from Washington State University.
Mr. Sorg lived in Lakeridge for 25 years and moved to Renton in March 2000.
Mr. Sorg was a senior tripper at Associated Grocers for 25 years, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his son, David Sorg; brother Albert Sorg of Galdstone, Ore.; and sister Inez Edlich of Renton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley. Inurnment was under the direction of Faull-Stokes Mortuary in Renton.
Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association or Swedish Hospice Home Care.
TV Neely
TV Neely of Kent died Oct. 9, 2001, in Renton. He was 74.
Born March 26, 1927, in Overton County, Tenn., Mr. Neely served in the Army for two years and married
Cleo 'Pat' Hartwig March 26, 2000, in Redmond. He lived in the South County area for three years.
Mr. Neely retired in 1988, after 30 years of service, as a machinist at Ford Motor Co. He was a member of Renton Church of the Nazarene and went on five missions to Central America. He enjoyed golfing, house projects, reading, music and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo 'Pat' Neely of Kent; son Michael Neely of Danville, Ind.; daughters Sandra Igo of Renton, Melinda Beeson of Lakewood, Donna Denny of Pendleton, Ind., Jennifer Blake of Naples, Fla., and Debra Schoger of Markleville, Ind.; stepsons Robert Russell of Redmond, Stephen Russell of Seattle and Kevin Russell of Everett; stepdaughters Sharon Skogman and LaRae Pedersen, both of Renton; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Renton Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be Wednesday at Grove Lawn cemetery in Pendleton, Ind.
Memorials may be made to Renton Church of the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry.

Bud F. Sherwood
Bud F. Sherwood of Enumclaw died Oct. 9, 2001, in Enumclaw. He was 76.
Born Dec. 30, 1924, in Baker, Ore., Mr. Sherwood lived in Puyallup until 1969.
He retired in 1986 as an operating engineer, and had worked in mines, logging and construction.
Mr. Sherwood is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Sherwood of Enumclaw; son Curtis Sherwood of Enumclaw; daughter Sandra Evenson of Bonney Lake; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial gathering will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Osceola Community Hall in Enumclaw. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund, 431 18th St. N.W., third floor, Washington, D.C. 20006.
