Glen M. Johnson
Glen Marvin Johnson of Kent died Oct. 12, 2001, at North Auburn Rehabilitation Center. He was 82.
Born Sept. 20, 1919, in Halma, Minn., Mr. Johnson married
Mathie Petterson Dec. 31, 1948, in Lake Bronson, Minn. He lived in the South County area for 45 years.
Mr. Johnson worked as a tireman at Smith Brothers Dairy in Kent for 28 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed gardening, puzzles and current events.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard; and sisters Winfred, Violet and Stella. He is survived by his wife, Mathie Johnson of Kent; and daughters Glenice Johnson of Seattle and Sybil Johnson of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent.
Donald D. Detwiler
Donald Dean Detwiler of Kent died of heart failure Oct. 16, 2001, in Auburn. He was 73.
Born Aug. 19, 1928, in Arlington, Mr. Detwiler served in the Army Air Force from 1945 to 1947. He married
Martha Smail on Sept. 16, 1967, in Idaho. He lived most of his life in Kent.
Mr. Detwiler was an operations engineer at Hoss Brothers-Local 302 for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Karl Detwiler in 1983, and Wayne Detwiler in 1967. Mr. Detwiler is survived by his wife, Martha Detwiler of Kent; sons Donald Detwiler of Soap Lake, Michael Detwiler of Kent and Dennis Detwiler of Yakima; stepsons Curtis Huskins of Arizona and John Dearinger of Cle Elum; stepdaughters Joan Thompson of Kent, Linda Edwards of Wenatchee, and Roxanne Dearinger of Anchorage; brothers John Detwiler of Hoquiam, Ted Detwiler of Montana, David Detwiler of Hawaii, and Harry Detwiler and Larry Detwiler, both of Yakima; sisters Barbara Weaver of Kent and Doretta Gamiles and Gretchen Montieth, both of Yakima; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Meridian Grange, 15422 S.E. 272nd St., Kent, followed by a reception.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

William R. Goeman Sr.
Former South County resident William Robert Goeman Sr. of Marysville died Oct. 10, 2001, in Marysville. He was 77.
Born April 22, 1924, in Hayti, S.D., Mr. Goeman served in the Army during World War II and had lived in Kent, Auburn and Federal Way for 50 years.
He was a contractor and had worked as a superintendent at Baugh Construction and Timberland Custom Homes. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, playing pinochle and cooking.
Mr. Goeman is survived by his wife, Judy Goeman of Marysville; sons Gary Goeman of Marysville and William Goeman of Berkeley, Calif.; daughters Gayle Richards of Kent and Patricia Sanders of Marietta, Ga.; brothers Jerry Goeman of Chehalis, Gene Goeman of Kent and Donald Goeman of Mossyrock; sisters Carol Purtle of Brinnon, Elizabeth Sims of Kennewick, Sharon Parks of Puyallup and Vivian Bumann of Missouri; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the family home in Marysville.

Calvin G. Jones
Calvin G. Jones of Menan, Idaho died of leukemia on Oct. 13, 2001, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 75.
Born Sept. 27, 1926, in Menan, Idaho, Mr. Jones served in the Navy and lived in Auburn for 25 years.
He was a teacher at Auburn High School for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed golf and traveling.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his daughter, Vonna Lee; and brothers Harold Jones and La Von Jones. He is survived by daughters, Darci Jones of Orting and Janine Edelbrock of Spokane; brothers Cecil Jones of Garden Valley, Calif. and Kenneth Jones of Garfield, Idaho; sisters Estalene Andrus of Grant, Idaho, Cleo Muehlfeit of Coltman, Idaho, Audrey Ellingson of Salt Lake City, Utah and Shirley Poole of Menan, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Eckersell's Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the LDS Church in Menan, Idaho, followed by burial at 12:30 p.m. at Pioneer cemetery in Grant, Idaho.

Albert N. `Bud' Shinpoch
Albert Neil ``Bud'' Shinpoch of Renton died Oct. 16, 2001, in Renton. He was 76.
Born Dec. 8, 1924, in McIntosh, Okla., Mr. Shinpoch lived in the South County area for 49 years.
He worked in management at The Boeing Co. for 34 years and was a member of the Washington State Senate for eight years and the state House of Representatives for seven years. He served as state revenue director and director of the state Department of Social and Health Services under Gov. Booth Gardner.
Mr. Shinpoch is survived by his wife, Barbara Shinpoch of Renton; daughters Terre Scappini of Renton and Jane Shinpoch of Tacoma Park, Md.; brothers Richard Shinpoch, Thomas Shinpoch, and John Shinpoch, all of Council Hill, Okla.; foster sister Lola Chase of Almeda, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
No service will be held. Inurnment will be in Council Hill cemetery, in Council Hill, Okla.

Deborah L. Henson
Deborah L. Henson died Oct. 12, 2001, at her Skyway home. She was 46.
Born May 27, 1955, in Tacoma, she was a lifelong resident of Skyway.
She is survived by her three daughters, Valerie, Jennifer, and Jeanene; father Donald E. Henson of Skyway; and brother Donald S. Henson.
No service will be held.

Joseph William Rust
Joseph William Rust died Oct. 17, 2001, at his home in Des Moines. He was 71.
Born Nov. 30, 1929, in Herrick, S.D., Mr. Rust was wounded while serving in the Army in Korea in 1951, and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Service Star and United Nations Service Medal.
He was the founder of Friend to Friend, a nursing home visitation charity, and was awarded the 1977 Seattle Times Humanitarian Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with Friend to Friend.
Mr. Rust is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlene Rust of Des Moines; sons John Rust of Kent, Dale Rust and Jim Rust, both of Seattle and Don Rust and Joey Rust, both of Des Moines; daughters Marilyn Soderquist of Seattle, Diane Minnick of Federal Way and Janet Trout of Tacoma; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philomena's Catholic Church in Des Moines. Burial will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Inez M. Everhart
Inez M. Everhart of Auburn died Oct. 17, 2001, at Auburn Regional Medical Center. She was 87.
Born March 12, 1914, in Black Diamond, she married
Charles Everhart on Nov. 3, 1940. She worked for the Army as a nurse during World War II and lived most of her life in the South County area.
Mrs. Everhart worked as a registered nurse at Auburn General Hospital and had worked as a nurse for three doctors.
Mrs. Everhart was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Pellini, of West Seattle, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Charles A. Cummings
Charles A. Cummings of SeaTac died Oct. 16, 2001, at Valley Medical Center in Renton. He was 86.
Born Sept. 22, 1915, in Great Falls, Mont., Mr. Cummings was a self-employed mechanic. He retired in 1986 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the outdoors.
Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife of 64 years, Coletta L. Cummings of SeaTac; daughters Marilyn K. Netherda of Enumclaw and Marjorie E. Longo of Phoenix; brother Pete Cummings of Great Falls, Mont.; and four grandchildren.
No service will be held.
