Marjorie J. Brown
Former longtime Renton resident Marjorie ``Marge'' Jean Brown of Stanwood died of cancer Oct. 21, 2001, at Eastside Group Health Hospital in Redmond. She was 67.
Born Dec. 24, 1933, in Bellingham, she graduated from Renton High School and married
Charles Brown on June 23, 1950, in Renton. She lived most of her life in Renton.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Horse Breeders Association. Besides thoroughbred horse racing, she enjoyed animals and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Brown of Stanwood; sons Allan Brown of Des Moines and Michael Brown of Renton; daughter Catherine Bouthillier of Boston, Mass.; seven sisters; two brothers; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Green's Funeral Home in Bellevue, followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue.

Richard E. Langlois
Richard Earl Langlois of Renton died of leukemia Oct. 19, 2001, in Renton. He was 70.
Born Dec. 22, 1930, in Seattle, Mr. Langlois served in the Navy and lived in Renton for 50 years.
Mr. Langlois was a mixologist. He was a member of East Renton Community Church, and the Renton VFW and Eagles. He enjoyed golfing, music and Husky football.
Mr. Langlois is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Langlois of Renton; sons Jerry Langlois, Michael Langlois and Barry Langlois, all of Renton; daughters Denise Jackson of Renton, and Melody Morefield and Robyn Agnew, both of Auburn; mother Elva Langlois of Sedro Woolley; sisters Darlene Godfrey and Trudey Spencer, both of Renton; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.
Arrangements are by American Memorial Funeral Directors in Renton.
Max M. Whittlesey
Max Murel Whittlesey of Des Moines died Oct. 19, 2001, in Burien. He was 80.
Born Aug. 8, 1921, in Center, Texas, Mr. Whittlesey married
Eloise Hanson on Sept. 1, 1941. He served in the Army, retiring as a major, and lived in the South County area for 24 years.
Mr. Whittlesey was a supervisor and auditor for the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Des Moines and served several short-term missions to Alaska, Taiwan, China, Sweden and Australia.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Whittlesey of Des Moines; sons Max Whittlesey Jr. of Edmonds and Don Whittlesey of Mill Creek; daughters Cherie Koedyker of California and Brenda McCoin of Pacific; sister Myrtle Sayes of Panorama City; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Judson Park Retirement Center in Des Moines.

Florence M. Stephens
Florence Marie Stephens of Auburn died Oct. 19, 2001, at North Auburn Rehabilitation and Health Center. She was 83.
Born Sept. 17, 1918, in Coleraine, Minn., she married
Paul Stephens on June 19, 1943, and lived in Auburn for 17 years.
A homemaker, Mrs. Stephens retired as a woman's apparel clerk at Cleo's.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Stephens of Auburn; daughters Julie Karam and Linda Stephens, both of Seattle; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held from 2-5 p.m. Friday at Alta Vista Community Club House in Auburn.

Raymond Dennis Banzet
Longtime South County resident Raymond Dennis Banzet of Edgewood died Oct. 22, 2001, in Auburn. He was 80.
Born Jan. 3, 1921, in Vinita, Okla., Mr. Banzet served in the Air Force. He lived in Pacific and Renton for 25 years.
Mr. Banzet was a member of the VFW and Eagles. He was an electrician at The Boeing Co. for more than 21 years, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching football and baseball, dancing and barbecues.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Kenneth Lovett. Mr. Banzet is survived by his son, Raymond Banzet of Edgewood; daughters Debra Grant of Edgewood and Geneva Sherwood of Winlock; stepdaughters Ava Davis of Edgewood and Irene Lewtas of Tacoma; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. today at Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Price-Helton Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.
Ruth Dorothea May Landis
Ruth Dorothea May Landis of Renton died Oct. 17, 2001, in Seattle. She was 77.
Born Nov. 20, 1923, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Mrs. Landis lived in Renton for 15 years.
She was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Renton and enjoyed being involved in the tape ministry at King of Kings Church. She most recently worked as a librarian in California.
Mrs. Landis was preceded in death by her husband, George Landis, in 1999. She is survived by her sister, Janet Davis of Chicago, Ill.; and her close friend, Gary Gable of Renton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at King of Kings Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery.

Mabel O. Wickham-Knowlton
Mabel O. Wickham-Knowlton of Buckley died Oct. 23, 2001, in Lakewood. She was 82.
Born May 20, 1919, in Brooten, Minn., she was a resident of Auburn for 47 years before moving to Buckley in 1993.
She enjoyed photography and cooking.
She is survived by her two sons, Duane Wickham of Enumclaw and John Wickham of Covington; daughters Lois McGinnis of Tacoma and Mary Black of Buckley; brothers Phillip Halvorsen of Mill Town, Wis., and LeRoy Halvorsen of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters Evelyn Butterfield and Ella Mae Kisslinger, both of Grand Rapids, Minn., Wanda Kortekas of Hill City, Minn., Helen Halvorsen of St. Paul, Minn., and Rose Reich of Aitkin, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Charles J. Fashana
Charles J. Fashana of Renton died Oct. 18, 2001, in Renton. He was 66.
Born Sept. 23, 1935, in Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Fashana served in the Navy. He lived in South County for 13 years.
A self-employed painter, Mr. Fashana was a member of the VFW, Skyway Post No. 9430.
Mr. Fashana is survived by his wife, Victoria Fashana of Renton; sons Dustin Fashana of Beaverton, Ore., Ray Fashana of Tacoma, and Paul Fashana of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Leola F. Parsnow
Leola Francis Parsnow of Kent died Oct. 19, 2001, in Burien. She was 85.
Born Feb. 20, 1916, in Brashear, Mo., Mrs. Parsnow lived in Kent for 30 years.
A housewife, she had worked at White's Shoe Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1969. Mrs. Parsnow enjoyed beachcombing, dancing and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Parsnow of Kent; daughters Betty Spragg of SeaTac and Connie Roberts of Bellevue; sisters Dorothy Lewis of Kirksville, Mo., and Evelyn Munson of Fort Madison, Iowa; and a grandchild.
A private family service will be held at the ocean in Westport.

James W. Hughes
James William Hughes of Kent died Oct. 18, 2001, in Kent. He was 59.
Born March 29, 1942, in Seattle, Mr. Hughes graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960. He married
Rosalee Miles in May 1964. He lived in Kent for about 25 years.
Mr. Hughes began working at The Boeing Co. in 1962 in Huntsville, Ala. In 1974, he and his family returned to the Puget Sound area where he continued working for Boeing, retiring in 1998 as manager of computing, data processing, and operations.
He enjoyed woodworking, photography, travel, tropical fishes and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rosalee Hughes of Kent; daughters Shannon Pedersen of Bothell and Kellie Michelle Butterfield of Groton, Conn.; sister Carole Nichols of Kent; and one grandson.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kent Commons, Green River Room, 525 Fourth Ave. N. in Kent.
Memorials can be made to Puget Sound Blood Center or Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
