Brian S. Saurdiff
Former South County resident Brian Scott Saurdiff died Oct. 22, 2001, in San Diego. He was 44.
Born Feb. 14, 1957, in Renton, Mr. Saurdiff lived in South County for 28 years.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Balcom of Bend, Ore.; father Dale Saurdiff of Graham; sons Rob Saurdiff of Issaquah, and Alex Saurdiff and Austin Saurdiff, both of Salt Lake City; brothers Glen Saurdiff of Kent and Gary Saurdiff of Oceanside, Calif.; sister Connie Moffat of Oceanside, Calif.; and grandmother Dorothy Larson of Auburn.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday St. James Episcopal Chapel in Kent.

Jewel M. Vegh
Jewel Marie Vegh of Kent died Oct. 24, 2001, at Evergreen Vista in Kirkland. She was 80.
Born April 10, 1921, in Fairfield, Mont., she lived in Kent for seven years.
She enjoyed dancing and was a payroll clerk in Alameda County in California.
She is survived by her son, Peter Tranberg of Kent; daughters Carole Hardy of Kent and Judy Oder of Sugarland, Texas; sister Betty McGuire of San Diego; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
No services will be held.

John 'Jack' Brien Bereiter
John ``Jack'' Brien Bereiter of Kent died Oct. 24, 2001, in Everett. He was 68.
Born March 30, 1933, in Seattle, he graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle and served four years in the Air Force. He graduated from the University of Washington Law School. He lived in the South County area for 33 years.
Mr. Bereiter worked at Brightman and Holm in Renton and later became the city attorney for Kent. He retired in 1988 as the city attorney for Auburn. He enjoyed sports, reading, writing and photography.
He is survived by his sons, Don Bereiter of Renton and Tom Bereiter of Snohomish; daughters Cyndy Bell of Renton and Jeanne Bereiter of Snohomish; seven grandchildren; and companion, Kathleen ``Mickey'' Pike of Kent.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at White River Presbyterian Church in Auburn. Burial will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Lois A. Williamson
Lois A. Williamson of Federal Way died Oct. 23, 2001, in Federal Way. She was 72.
Born Sept. 26, 1929, in Minot, N.D., she graduated from Corvalis High School in Corvallis, Ore., and attended Oregon State University. She married
Robert B. Williamson in 1950 in Corvallis and moved to the South County area.
A homemaker, she was a member of Grace Community Church in Auburn. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening and entertaining.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Williamson of Federal Way; son Ronald Williamson of Bothell; daughter Janet Norwood of Federal Way; brother Dale Shuck of Redmond; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn.

Mable Rohrer
Former Auburn resident Mable Rohrer of Minot, N.D., died Oct. 25, 2001, in Minot. She was 85.
Born Dec. 18, 1915, in rural Minot, N.D., she graduated from Minot High School in 1933 and married
Rowland B. ``Bones'' Rohrer Aug. 10, 1946, in Minot. She lived in Auburn from 1981 to 1998.
Mrs. Rohrer worked as a bookkeeper, having worked at Winston Newell, Sebby's Flooring Inc., Mayflower Transit Agency and Montgomery Ward Co. She attended Augustana Lutheran Church and served as the bookkeeper and volunteered her time preparing meals for the homeless. She was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary. She traveled to Scandinavia and enjoyed studying the language and her heritage. She enjoyed bird watching, fishing and working crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Rohrer was preceded in death by her husband, Rowland Rohrer in 1976; daughter Julie Howard in 1991; brothers Emil Strandberg and Edgar Strandberg; sisters Ruby Huber, Signe Alm, Olga Salmonson, Margaret Levno, and Lillian Woods. She is survived by her son, Terry Rohrer of Minot, N.D.; daughter Sandra K. Brown of Auburn; brother Maynard Strandberg; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot, N.D. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Minot. Burial will be at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
Gail L. (Bauman) Ravet
Former Kent resident Gail L. (Bauman) Ravet of Ellensburg died Oct. 24, 2001, in Ellensburg. She was 92.
Born Jan. 24, 1909, in Seattle, she graduated from Holy Angels Catholic High School in Ballard and married
Henry ``Hank'' Sabastion Ravet in 1929. She lived in Kent for 46 years.
Mrs. Ravet worked at the Frederick & Nelson department store prior to her marriage.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, and by daughter Mary Lou Aughney in 1993. She is survived by her sons, William Ravet of Seattle, David Ravet of Bellevue, John Ravet of Alameda, Calif., and Richard Ravet of Ellensburg; daughters, Catherine Howard of Enumclaw and Teresa Barnes of Federal Way; 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1-7 p.m. today and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Steward & Williams/Cascade Funeral Home in Ellensburg. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Andrew's Church in Ellensburg. A funeral Mass will celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Church.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick's cemetery in Kent.
Charles J. Cosand
Charles J. Cosand of Kent died Oct. 22, 2001, in Auburn. He was 83.
He was born Nov. 28, 1917, in Ellis, S.D. He married
Jeanette L. Nordstrom in 1941 and served in the Navy during World War II and had lived in the South County area for 43 years.
Mr. Cosand retired in 1969 as an associate with Langendorf Bakery. He enjoyed playing golf and going to the Kent Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Cosand; and sisters, Hazel Sunderman and Elda Midguard. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Cosand of Kent; sons, Ronald Cosand of Renton, Daryl Cosand of Maple Valley, and Charles L. Cosand and Dale Cosand, both of Kent; daughter, Cheryl Braden of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; sister, Deloris Flynn of Boston; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Marlatt Funeral Home. Burial will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley.

Susan Hamilton
Susan Hamilton of Covington died of cancer Oct. 24, 2001, in Renton. She was 49.
Born Dec. 3, 1951, in Blackfoot, Idaho, she graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1970 and from the University of Idaho in 1974. She was a resident of South County for 25 years.
She was a computer programmer at The Boeing Co. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, woodworking, traveling, riding horses and baseball.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Hamilton. She is survived by her mother, Elouise Hamilton; brothers George Hamilton of Rigby, Idaho, and Roger and Gary Hamilton, both of Blackfoot; and sisters Jeanne Hamilton of Kent and Kathleen Hamilton-Katseanes of Boise, Idaho.
A memorial service was held yesterday in Kent.
A graveside service will be held at Grove City cemetery in Blackfoot.

Selma C. Bartlett
Selma Constance Bartlett of Renton died Oct. 25, 2001. She was 85.
Born Sept. 6, 1916, in Pierpont, S.D., she lived in South County for 50 years.
She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1936. She worked on the family farm in Minneapolis. In 1941, she moved to Los Angeles and in 1951, moved to Seattle.
She worked at Boeing for 27 years. She was a quality control worker.
She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, flower gardening and watching the Mariners. She was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Renton.
She was preceded in death by husbands Stanley Jacobson in 1972 and Lyle Bartlett in 1992.
She is survived by stepdaughter Lorene M. Nordstrum of Montana; sister-in-law Lucille V. Johnson of Renton; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Greenwood Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow.

M. Lucille Stewart
M. Lucille Stewart of Kent died in her home Oct. 26, 2001. She was 80.
Born June 7, 1921 in Ava, Mo., she lived in Kent for 44 years.
Mrs. Stewart was a housewife who enjoyed crafts, quilting, sewing, crochet, travel and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Franklin M. Stewart.
She is survived by her son, Cal Stewart of Kent; her daughters, Margaret Brown of Bellingham, Doris Lattin of Edmonds, Jeanne Urquhart of Kent and Janet Lambert of Stafford, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday. A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent. A burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery in Renton.
Memorials may be made to any hospice organization.
