Nelson B. Humphries
Nelson Burke Humphries died Oct. 8, 2002, in Burien. He was 65.
Born April 1, 1937, in Ewing, Ky., he lived 34 years in Kent.
Mr. Humphries was a cook at the Olympic Four Seasons and the Elks Club in Federal Way. In 1999, he retired from United Airlines after 33 years as a ramp serviceman. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957.
He belonged to Lake Wilderness Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, cooking and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Humphries of Kent; daughters Debra McQueen of Maple Valley and Carol Lee Galbraith of Kentucky; sisters Carol Morgan of Texas and Judy Jones of Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from noon to 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Louis T. Corsaletti
Longtime Auburn resident and newsman Louis T. Corsaletti died Oct. 7, 2002, in Auburn. He was 69.
He was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Pittson, Penn. Mr. Corsaletti served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He married
Dianna Harris of Renton on Feb. 2, 1963.
Mr. Corsaletti was a reporter for the former Auburn Globe News during the 1960s, then worked as a reporter for the Seattle Times for 34 years, retiring in February 2001. He had resided in Auburn for 37 years.
He enjoyed traveling in Italy researching his family's history and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Corsaletti of the home; three sons, Ted Turner of San Antonio, Texas, Vincent Corsaletti of Covington and Steve Corsaletti, in Taiwan; a daughter, Tricia Bradley of Auburn; a sister, Theresa Crawford of Norfolk, Va.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Private inurnment will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Maple Valley. Remembrances may be donations to a hospice organization of choice.
Calvy V. Preston
Calvy Victor Preston of Yelm died Oct. 5, 2002. He was 75.
Born July 19, 1927 in Faulton, N.D., he was employed at Wal-Mart in the sales department.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1953.
He lived in Des Moines in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a member of VFW Post #5580 in Federal Way and the Puyallup Elks Lodge.
He volunteered with the Tacoma Salvation Army, PTA, Boy Scouts and Little League. He was active in many food drives and holiday distributions.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laurel Okert Preston; daughters Lucinda Larson, Michele Skinner and Teresa Fleming; sons Randy Okert, Roylynn Ware, Thor Ware and Zane Ware; sister Verna Quickel; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service has been held.
Remembrances may be made to a favorite charity or the Yelm Fire Department.
Effie E. Simpson
Effie E. Simpson of Seattle died Oct. 8, 2002. She was 80.
Born Jan. 20, 1922, in Pasco, she lived in the Skyway/Renton area for 53 years.
She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for GMAC and various Buick dealers.
She retired in 1960.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Simpson.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jackson of Renton; son, Daryl Yager of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Marie Bell of Seattle and Marjorie Cochran of Renton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held. Arrangements were by the Bonney Watson Funeral Home.
Billy D. Davis
Former Auburn business owner Billy D. Davis died Oct. 7, 2002, at his home in Olympia. He was 60.
Born May 18, 1942, in Clayton, Okla., he was a veteran of Vietnam War and married
Mildred ``Millie'' Mitchell more than 30 years ago.
Mr. Davis owned and operated State Wide Steel in Auburn for more than 15 years. He enjoyed hunting and family time.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Davis; son Jason Davis; daughter Shelly Crocker; father Bud Davis; brother Clifford Davis; sister Ellen Spruell; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at Forest Funeral Home Chapel in Olympia. A funeral will be held at noon Thursday at Forest Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Forest cemetery in Olympia.
Francis R. Woulf
Former Renton resident Francis Renee Woulf of Bellingham died Sept. 27, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham. She was 37.
Born Nov. 13. 1964, in Seattle, she graduated in 1983 from Liberty High School in Renton and lived in Renton for 31 years. A homemaker, she was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her adopted mother, Helen Woulf of Renton; and her biological parents, Leland Cooper and Ardellina Rose Phair.
A funeral was held Oct. 2 at the Lummi Reservation cemetery in Bellingham.
Arrangements were by Moles Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ferndale.
Kathleen E. Price
Kathleen Elise (Puhich) Price of Renton died Oct. 6, 2002, in Renton. She was 75.
Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Cardin, Okla., she lived in Renton for 57 years. She is survived by her son, Marc Puhich of Shoreline. At her request, no services will be held.

Richard Merle Oxford
Former Skyway resident Richard Merle Oxford of Issaquah died Oct. 5, 2002, in Bellevue. He was 62.
Born Dec. 20, 1939, in Broken Bow, Neb., he served in the Army for two years and lived in Skyway for 10 years.
Mr. Oxford. worked at The Boeing Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1995 as a numerical control mechanic. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles and hunting.
He is survived by his sons, Rennick Oxford of Renton and Richard C. Oxford of Bothell; sister Pauline Oxford of Seattle; and two grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Tahoma National cemetery.

Former South County resident Laverne Gloria Bocek of Sumner died Dec. 1, 2002, at Auburn Regional Medical Center. She was 76. - Born July 4, 1926, in Chicago, she lived in the Auburn and Federal Way areas for 40 years. - She worked as a registered nurse at Auburn Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1987. - She is survived by her son, John Bocek of Bisbe, Ariz.; daughter Nancy Parsons of Sumner; and three grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn.
Vivian E. Lorren
Vivian Etherton Lorren of Auburn died Dec. 5, 2002, in Auburn. She was 94.
Born Dec. 13, 1907, in Carbondale, Ill, she moved to Auburn in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Lorren Jr., of Longview, Texas and Larry Lorren of Carmel, Calif.; daughters Sharon Smith of Auburn and Patricia Parmele of Lincoln, Neb.; brothers Wellington Etherton and Gene Gent, both of California, Harold Etherton and Homer Etherton, both of Oregon; Dr. Jack Gent, M.D. of Georgia; sisters Vida Blue and Mary Jo Randall, both of California, Frances Gent of New York and June MacDonald of Oregon; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in Enterprise, Oregon.

Marietta Jacobsen
Former Kent resident Marietta Jacobsen of Beavercreek, Ohio, died Nov. 21, 2002, at Patriot Ridge Nursing Home in Fairborn, Ohio. She was 74.
Born July 20, 1928, in Wichita, Kan., she lived in Kent for 40 years.
She worked as a medical office manager.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Jacobsen of Auburn, David Jacobsen of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Jeffrey Jacobsen of Kent.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastridge Baptist Church in Kent.

Bernie J. Scheuble
Bernie J. Scheuble of Auburn died Dec. 4, 2002, in Auburn. She was 89.
Born June 6, 1913, in Towner, N.D., she lived in Auburn for 50 years.
Mrs. Scheuble retired as a claims assistant for the Farmers Insurance Group and also worked for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Scheuble. She is survived by her daughters, Claudette Kearney of Auburn and Gayle Warren of Enumclaw; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn.
